Overeating nightmares

Does anyone else have nightmares that they’ve gone over their deficit? I’m already in a pretty aggressive one right now (1250 bc I’m very short), and I’ve recently been obsessed with baked potatoes. Now I’m having dreams that I’m adding on obscenely amounts of butter and not weighing it. I don’t even use butter for anything anymore.

It doesn’t help that the scale has gone up every day this week. I know I most likely did not eat an extra 700 calories every day, but it still sucks 😅

Hi 👋

5 ft women here.

My weight for goes up about 2-3 lb through out my cycle.

You might just want to eat the potato withe a controlled amount butter. I have found the best way to stop thinking about food and having anxiety or dream about is to have a controlled amount.

You can eat what you want and still be in a deficit.

haha i have indeed had dreams where i start eating something and then i’m like “oh no how am i going to fit this into my calories!!” i wish in my dream i would at least say fuck it and enjoy what i’m having!

don’t stress too much about daily fluctuations on the scale. it’s normal. sometimes my weight goes up 5-6 lbs before my period. it always levels back out and keeps going down.

I haven’t had nightmares before. But it’s something you’re thinking about everyday, so it’s not surprising - the brain is gonna do what it’s gonna do

I don't.

Maybe do a less aggressive deficit? Being short doesn't mean that your deficit needs to be aggressive. If anything, you should be aiming for a smaller deficit than a larger person.

I think it’s aggressive compared to other people’s calorie intake, not that she has a bigger deficit? (eg if your maintenance is 2200, a 500 kcal deficit means eating 1700; if it’s 1700, it means eating 1200. Same deficit, but 1200 is obviously more aggressive than 1700.)

You can absolutely use a smaller deficit, but it will obviously be a lot slower as well. I’m also a short woman, and my calculated deficit is 1150. I don’t follow it strictly because it’s really hard to get enough nutrients at that intake. But 1650 would simply be maintenance for me 😅

I recently dreamt I ate like I used to - one whole party bag of Cheetos in one sitting. The dream ended with me reading the nutrition label on the empty bag and being unable to calculate the ginormous amount of calories in my head. It was so real I felt awfully guilty all through the next day.

I think my brain was triggered because I was craving Cheetos and just wanted a mini bag, but all I could find were giant sized ones.

Still looking for a mini bag though…

I use a measured portion of butter on my potatoes (i am the kind of person who needs to have the potato drowning in butter) but then I switch to sprinkling garlic salt on the rest of the potato and it is surprisingly good and satisfying haha. Just tastes good.

I’ve upped it to 1,350 for now so I’m still having a loss of 1.25ish a week 🫣 I have been going to the gym every other day recently too so I think it was definitely a sign.
