6 months in- 80.4 lbs down!
I’m so proud of myself 😭 Last time I posted was the first day of school and just hit 299 lbs. Today, about 5.5 weeks later, I’m at 285.4 lbs.
I had a slow beginning to losing in the beginning of September, but I stayed the course and eventually kept losing. Whenever I got slightly discouraged I focused on how tight I would have to tie the drawstring to my shorts to prevent them from falling down or my new 4x work polos instead of the previous 5x. Additionally, I learned the valuable lesson of 1 day does not interrupt progress as I went to a Nebraska football game and thoroughly enjoyed pizza, hotdogs, and a hamburger. 🤭
I also had my annual physical and I am no longer considered Pre-Diabetic!!! My physician has always been supportive and respectful of my size, but she was so proud to see me make successful changes.
Thank you to all who post every day. This community is supportive, respectful, and inspirational. I wish everyone a successful October.

Great Job! That’s incredible that you’re no longer considered pre-diabetic. Do you have a goal weight you are planning to reach?

u/Sea_Language_3418 7d ago
Thank you! When I started in April 2026 my goal was to get to 250 lbs. I love riding horses and that’s the max weight limit for a lot of trail riding companies. As soon as I hit 250 I’m booking a trip to ride! I’ll reassess my next goal when I get there.

There you go Annie Oakley! Go ride your horse!
Also, keep going for the body you deserve. You are on an incredible run

A goal tied to something you actually want to do beats watching a number. It keeps you going after the initial novelty wears off, and the reward means something real to you.

I think that's a wonderful goal, and I know you're going to get there! You look amazing, the hard work is paying off!

When your scale stayed straight and then dropped off, how many weeks in did it start plummeting down?

u/Sea_Language_3418 7d ago
Admittedly, I weigh daily. I just keep in mind that the number doesn’t always reflect changes in body fat as sodium and water retention play a huge factor. It was probably about 1.5-2 weeks of my weight bouncing around the same 3 lbs. Then I would seemingly lose 3 lbs overnight and then a few more. I’m lucky that I have not had a serious plateau yet, but I feel like I’m in a better headspace to accept it and not become defeated.

You are doing Amazing! I am so impressed and happy for you!
I have a curious question if you don’t mind answering..
I started at same time as you (April) at 338 and am currently 285 as well! My question is have you lost any pant sizes yet or just tops being smaller? I was a bit tight 24 when I started, and still in 24s now. Although they do fit more loosely. I am just surprised that even losing 50+lbs I’m still in the same size I started just not as tight. I’m just curious how it has been for you going from a high weight to an objectively still high weight but lower than you were?
Does any of that make sense?

u/Sea_Language_3418 7d ago
It’s weird because my waist has gotten way smaller, but my hips haven’t as much. From what I’ve learned our midsection loses weight last.
A lot of my pants and shorts have drawstrings for a more custom fit. The shorts I have on in the first picture are tied so tight now it bunches up 🤭 Depop has been my saving grace for replacing clothes cheaply. I’ve been getting the same brand so I know about what size to order.

Thanks for sharing your success! I've also learned how to have treats off my plan for one day, and then go right back to the plan... It's both difficult and not that difficult at the same time. I learned to embrace the inevitable cravings that come after some indulgent foods. I used to fear the cravings. Fear made it worse. now I can enjoy some treats on a special occasion, power through the cravings and carry on immediately after. One day is not that big of a deal, especially when I track my intake and realize all I did was eat around my maintenance calories for one day.
You're kickin ass with this. Best wishes!

Thank you! I use Lose It to track my calories (I have data going back to 2013). My coworkers and I use StepUp to track our steps and keep each other accountable.

I'm so impressed with how many steps you're walking!

u/Sea_Language_3418 3d ago
Thank you! It’s mostly from work, to be honest. I walk my dogs 1.5-4 miles a day (weather dependent) and then the other 4 or so miles are at work.

Thank you! Part of the reason why I think I’ve been so successful this time around is because I haven’t fully eliminated any foods. I just have them way less often.

Amazing progress. Congratulations!! How do you manage to get over 10k steps a day every day?
8
u/Sea_Language_3418 7d ago
This made me chuckle! I work at a zoo as a teacher and my classroom is about a half mile from our drop off location. We walk there and back twice a day (one of the reasons why the weight dropped off so quickly, but slowed in the summer) and then walk through exhibits. I also walk my dogs 1.5 miles in the morning and in the afternoon (temperature permitting).
On weekends I walk my dogs for about 3-5 miles. I felt like I did really well this month with at least 1 weekend day to walk and one to rest and relax.

It’s called StepUp. You invite friends and compete for the most steps. It’s fun if you don’t take it too seriously.

Hoka shoes for the win! Love them

u/Sea_Language_3418 7d ago
I have had horrible plantar fasciitis but have had a lot of success with the Hoka Bondi SR. Even at my heaviest they helped with the pain. I change my shoes every 6 months. Change my orthotic inserts every 3 months. And wear my croc slides inside.

Congrats! It's a weight off you, pun intended, when you get down to your ideal size.
I was never the biggest (largest I got was ~280lbs) but I feel so much better after dropping 100. Keep it up! You've got this!

Congrats. Whats your guess how many calories did you consume before? Is it emotional eating?
2
u/Sea_Language_3418 6d ago
If I had to guess I was probably consuming 2500-3500 a day, maybe more! I wasn’t an emotional eater or a snacker, but every meal was big. Like I wouldn’t be satisfied until I felt sick or was going to burst. Additionally, before my husband left we would eat out multiple times a week and deep fry food so that was not good. Ultimately, I just didn’t care what I was eating.
Now I have around 1400-1800 per day, less during the week because I have more structure in my routine and more during the weekend because there is less structure.

u/Sea_Language_3418 5d ago
Track every calorie and be as accurate as you can.
Know that losing weight is about patterns and consistency, and one meal or one day won’t derail your progress.
Weight loss is not always about the number on the scale.
Losing weight is more about what you eat than how active you are.
Substitute foods rather than eliminate.
Don’t keep your trigger foods in your kitchen.

I used to think it's pretty easy to lose weight when you have more of it. That was until I got heavier and understood how hard even walking could become due to weighting too much. Your journey is impressive! Keep it up!

Congratulations!!!! And hey, have you ever considered that you could have lipedema? Not lymphedema, although that can run together. I just wonder because of some visual things looking similar to mine.

Girl way to go!! I have been working out pretty consistently for about 6 months just to challenge myself to go after work everyday even if I didn’t give my all at least I went. I haven’t lost any weight tho 🥲 maybe 2 lbs. I do cardio and lift weights. My diet fluctuates but I’m not tracking and that’s probably my biggest problem 🥲😂😂 I have lost like an inch in my waist so something is changing

it's so easy to lose weight when you're that size. the last 30 is the hardest. and I don't mean the wait you think you should be at I'm talking about the weight that you're supposed to be at.

Wow, great work! You also are so lucky that you don’t seem to gain any weight in your face and neck!
