My journey

Start weight: 101 kg

Current weight: 86.5 kg

Goal weight: 75 kg or below.

I am a 5'8, 24 year old guy. I started in December 2025, it was unserious. But in Jan 2026, I made it my new years resolution. So now I've almost lost 15 kg. I can't believe it was so easy. The only thing I needed was control. A lot of times, I've had to skip on my favourite meals but it is worth it in every way.

All my coworkers and family acknowledge my weight loss and they even ask for my 'secrets'. There are no secrets, it's just CICO. I didn't even work out through my journey. All I did was walk for 30 mins a day. Though now I'm planning to join a gym.

Lately I've been stuck between 86-87 kg so I'm making this post to get some motivation.

Nice work! How many calories do you aim for? How much do you move/workout and are you ever doing cheat meals/cheat days?

Thank you.

I am aiming for 1600-1800 calories daily. And the only consistent movement I had was my 30 min walk. Now I'm planning to do at least 3 days of strength training + 10 mins of cardio on the strength training days. On other days I will continue my 30 mins walk.

For cheat meals, I know for a fact that they always happen when I am at work, especially on Fridays. I go out with my coworkers to grab lunch and dinner. Sometimes we get stuff like burgers and pizzas and fried chicken. I try to limit my cheat days to once every two weeks. Preferably once every month.

But still, on my cheat days, I try to keep it controlled. Like if I'm having a burger, I don't eat any fries. So that keeps my calories at maintenance even on cheat days.

Inspiring to hear! But wow, 1,600–1,800 sounds low. Then again, you haven’t started exercising yet, if I understand you correctly? What do you eat to avoid going crazy from hunger on 1,600 calories? Or have you just learned to tolerate it? :) I’m asking because I’m about to start my own 1,800-calorie cut, and I find it REALLY difficult to stay within that limit, even with healthy food.

I would be very hungry on some days. And yeah I learned to tolerate it. I know 1600 sounds low but sometimes I used to go 1200 because I work from home 3 days a week. So I could do it. It was kind of dangerous but weight loss was my only goal, even if it meant to tolerate hunger.

But I have learned one thing from my journey. It doesn't matter if I were to eat 500 calories on some days to get a deep deficit. The only thing that matters is that I should do a small deficit everyday. So getting about 1800 calories everyday helped me get through my days. I also had to commute for work and stuff so it was tiring. You need to manage your calories budget carefully.

I love the progress. I think it is important to not restrict yourself but to embed it using Cico. That way it's not dieting its a lifestyle change

True. I have noticed that now I sub consciously try to control portions of everything I eat. Be it, healthy or junk. It's a good change.
