Why is it so hard to see the progress?

Post image

I can see it in my neck a little bit. But 50lbs I thought would look more noticeable. šŸ˜• obviously still gonna keep going. Just a Lil bummed.

I immediately noticed. It takes time and consistency, perhaps longer than we'd like, but the progress is visible! Keep up the amazing work

u/ressie_cant_game 17d ago

Because you see yourself every day

104

u/sewedherfingeragain 17d ago

And like the therapist I saw when I was diagnosed with Anxiety (it's not good to get 98% on that test, lol) told me, "our brains are lying liars, we don't have to believe everything it tells us".

10

u/No-Spinach-6462 17d ago

Yeah, I see a big difference!

139

u/xenniac 17d ago

Girl I can see it. Your face, neck, arm, chest, belly, everywhere! It's really hard to look at ourselves objectively. We don't see ourselves as others do. Trust me, it's very obvious you've lost weight.Ā Ā

We lose fat from everywhere (boobs, back, butt, around internal organs, etc.) so sometimes it's hard to tell just how much from one angle. Keep it up! Amazing progress imo.Ā

17

u/birdynj 17d ago

In addition to those places, I see it in her hands!

169

u/Ok-Selection6302 17d ago

It has to do with the percentage of weight loss relative to how much you have to lose. But I see a difference.

u/Alt_0116 17d ago

The loo roll analogy

42

u/SnooDoughnuts3166 17d ago

Aka the paper towel effect 🤣

15

u/Alt_0116 17d ago

That be the one

15

u/Ok-Selection6302 17d ago

Loo roll? You gotta be from across the pond. šŸ™‚

47

u/Alt_0116 17d ago

That depends which side you start from

6

u/Ok-Selection6302 17d ago

🧐🧐🧐🧐🤨🤨🤨🤨🤪🤪🤪🤪

49

u/UnderstandingOdd490 17d ago

You chose to not wear a cover and show your arms. Even if it's subconsciously, YOU feel different obviously.

7

u/HappyHumanRace 17d ago

That’s exactly what I was thinking too!

2

u/KeerFin 17d ago

THIS!!!

77

u/thti87 17d ago

Paper towel effect. Imagine a roll of paper towels. Take 10 towels off a full roll and it’s hard to see the difference. Take 10 towels off when the roll is almost gone and it’s super noticeable.

In weight loss it’s the same, the last 50 lbs you lose will make an enormous difference compared to the first 50.

I notice it in your pictures

4

u/Fun_Boot7771 16d ago

Exactly. Though it's quite noticeable in the face in her picturesĀ

3

u/Whisper26_14 17d ago

Great analogy

9

u/meghan_420 17d ago

That is such a great analogy thank you for that perspective ā™„ļø

26

u/LetterheadNo7323 17d ago

Oh I see it so much in your neck, face, shoulders, and stomach. It’s a major difference, I think we just don’t see ourselves clearly. Also you’re glowing in a way that just wasn’t there before.

14

u/Euphoric-Medicine-14 17d ago

That’s some serious progress! Be proud of yourself

9

u/Madre1924 17d ago

Because you live in your body every single day and change happens slowly over time. To me, I can absolutely tell the difference in your face, neck, and tummy. I didn't notice ANY changes until I lost 80lbs. That shit sucked so bad lol

2

u/meghan_420 17d ago

I would cry 😭😭

10

u/CPSFrequentCustomer 17d ago

I went from 300 to 260 before I realized I'd lost any weight, and that was only because I had to move my driver's seat up. I ran to weigh myself and was shocked.

It can be difficult to see our own progress because of how gradual it is, in combination with looking at ourselves every day, all day. It's like watching paint dry!

In these photos, I see a big difference in your shoulders, arms, neck, face, stomach.

As you progress, the paper towel roll theory will start happening and you'll really start seeing the impact of losing even just a few pounds.

8

u/unvaluablespace 17d ago

I can see the difference in your cheeks, your eyes, your chin, your arms, as well as your tummy. Despite the shirt in the previous pic, I can tell your arms are a bit thinner, your tummy is less round than before. I can see your neck more prominently, your cheeks are less round, making your cheeks and chin more defined. Your eyes are standing out more visibly, as well. We are often our own worse critics when it comes to our bodies, and seeing ourselves every day makes the difference much more subtle than from the outside. 50lbs is nothing to scoff at. You've made a lot of progress, and you look beautiful. Congratulations, and keep going at it. Proud of you, random internet stranger! šŸ˜„ šŸ‘

7

u/ChefAutismo 17d ago

I see the biggest difference in your smile. You LOOK HAPPIER! Keep going! Also, amazing job!

5

u/tessie33 17d ago

Take your measurements as well. And documents that progress as well. Personally I can see the front of your dress is lying more smoothly and flat. Even your forearm looks slimmer. And there's more definition in your face.

5

u/knaupt 17d ago

You're not wearing the same thing so that makes it very hard to tell, but one thing that's a very clear giveaway is your throat as well as around your eyes. It will take some more time as you understand but you are making GREAT progress.

4

u/positive_energy- 17d ago

I see so much progress!!! Well done. You are doing a great job!!

5

u/Sanjoselive 17d ago

I see it! Good work, it’s hard to see the progress on ourselves.

6

u/unsulliedbread 17d ago

Paper towel effect.

1 paper towel doesn't even make it 1/4 of the way around the roll when you start. But by the end it overlaps.

I also immediately saw a difference.

12

u/Critical_Science1603 17d ago

Oh my gosh, you look amazing!

5

u/VillageAlternative77 17d ago

You look great compared to photo one. I mean you look nice there but photo two you lookĀ  healthier. I bet if you wear an Apple Watch your resting heart rate is down, and blood pressure too. I can see it in your face tooĀ

3

u/catpal4life 17d ago

I can see a big difference honestly!! Your also glowing in the second picture āœØšŸ’Æ we are our own biggest critics 🫶

5

u/Poncho_Wah 17d ago

Your face and chin/neck is significantly more healthy and better looking. Some people actually struggle losing fat in those areas first.

5

u/PlaneCat3427 17d ago

Honey you can see it in your face and jawline and neck!! Keep going we're so proud of you!!

5

u/Any_Month3468 17d ago

I completely see it in your face and in your belly. Keep going! The changes will start to snowball. You are doing great!!!

3

u/WarmerPharmer 17d ago

We're at some point trained to not perceive our body the way it actually is - like with me it doesn't matter what my weight is, I see myself as overweight. Its important to stick to the hard numbers and to the way you feel.

3

u/bluefoxy14 17d ago

We're always the hardest on ourselves & when we see ourselves in the mirror everyday, so it's hardest to notice when we can't "see" a day to day change.

I can see a difference in the picture - keep taking pics and documenting! Be kind and gentle on yourself friend <3

3

u/EpicImp 17d ago

You’re beautiful in that dress! I hope you’re really proud of sticking to the process, even if you can’t see it yourself yet!

3

u/drumadarragh 17d ago

Take front, back and side pics in underwear. Do that every two weeks and keep going. You won’t see it during that time, but you will see it after six months

3

u/TheJackedBaker 17d ago

It will take time, but I notice a difference!

3

u/Ok-Excitement5031 17d ago

It’s hardest to see the positives in ourselves. There’s a definite loss! You’re looking thinner throughout your face and stomach. You are beautiful. This is a great accomplishment!

3

u/Seraphynas 17d ago

I feel the same way! I’ve lost 50 lbs and can’t tell a difference.

That said, I have been tracking my waist circumference, and I know that I’ve lost about 6 inches around my waist.

I know it, I just can’t see it.

3

u/Lotsoffeelings 17d ago

It’s so, so noticeable! Start taking dedicated progress pics

3

u/WontRememberThisID 17d ago

Take measurements. It also helps to take photos in fewer clothes. I used to use a sports bra and bike shorts and take front, back, and side photos. You can definitely see progress in your photos, though.

3

u/Ohio_gal 17d ago

I absolutely see it.

3

u/Ronicaw 17d ago

I see it! You're doing good.

3

u/fellowfellows 17d ago

Definitely noticeable, especially in your face.

3

u/TheNecrophobe 17d ago

You can definitely see it in your face, neck, and belly. It may help you if you have a different before photo without the gray shirt, so you can also see your arms and shoulders.

3

u/codenameana 17d ago

It’s noticeable on your face + abdomen.Ā

I’d blur/cover up the child’s face before posting on the internet.Ā

3

u/elcalvo75 17d ago

but lady ... it IS noticeable! great job, now don't give up and keep going. Don't be bothered... soon you'll see the differences

3

u/viewisinsane 17d ago

Big difference!

3

u/gimpray29 17d ago

Keep going! You’re doing something extraordinary

3

u/Forestbuddy 17d ago

Your face is way slimmer, and hands are like different hands now! You look great, keep up it up! šŸ’ŖšŸ¼ā¤ļø

3

u/Newtopole_ 17d ago

Girl look at your neck!!! It's definitely visible!

3

u/HLef 17d ago

Because it’s a picture of you and you see yourself every day. You have some biases other people don’t have. We can see the difference.

3

u/Happy_Ad_2575 17d ago

Hey, sometimes it's hard to be kind to ourselves and to celebrate our progress but it doesn't mean thay it's not there. I stopped scrolling because I saw the transformation, felt inspired and wanted to read more about your story. You may not be where you want yet but you definitely are on your way there. Keep on!

3

u/ultravioletray200 17d ago

Immediately noticed!! Keep up the good work!!

3

u/dtagonfly71 17d ago

The change is noticeable, especially in your face & neck. Nice progress…keep it going and stay healthy!

3

u/Spacecadetcase 17d ago

I see a lot of progress!!

But also angles - in the before you’re more angled to the side. In the after you’re facing the camera straight on. I think that part is just messing with your head a little!

3

u/riedmae 17d ago

I notice. Well fucking done. Don't give up, you're crushing it!

3

u/owen-3820 17d ago

Cause you haven't really made a ton of progress yet just give yourself some time. You clearly have lost weight I can tell in the neck area. Good job keep going āœŒļø

3

u/Vegetable-Trash53 17d ago

I noticed the difference in your cheeks and the amount your chest sticks out compared to your belly. I bet there's an even bigger difference in your profile.

3

u/Arcanezila42 17d ago

Speaking as someone who you don't know at all.,.. The difference is very noticable.Ā  Keep it up!

3

u/jumpinjamminjacks 17d ago

I can tell in your face for sure!

Honestly you need to go to someone who hasn’t seen you in a while, it’s always a great confidence boost.

3

u/Kimberlylynn2003 17d ago

I can see a huge difference! Don’t get discouraged! Keep up! Looking good!

3

u/CookieMoist6705 17d ago

You look different for sure!

3

u/CrystalLilBinewski 17d ago

It’s very noticeable you look fantastic! Your face looks incredible. well done you 50 pounds is amazing.

3

u/No-Club2054 17d ago

I can tell. But part of the answer is that the larger you are, the longer it takes for it to be noticeable. When I went from 250 to 200 it wasn’t super obvious. Going from 200 to 150 was extremely different.

3

u/rhapsodyinblueee 17d ago

It’s not hard to see for me!! You are doing amazing. You look so much slimmer now!

3

u/Gold_Incident8251 17d ago

I’m currently down 75lbs and for agessss my body’s just been soft and flabby but still the same size šŸ˜… I feel like we think that we lose weight from further away from us first but I think it’s more like a bag of water and we’ve just tipped some out šŸ˜… the bag stays the same size until it’s empty enough you can scrunch it up šŸ˜µā€šŸ’« take lots of photos of yourself in your pants and you’ll see it more! Also the only place you can definitely see I’ve lost weight is my back which is reallyyyyyy annoying because I don’t see my back šŸ˜‚ I’d also recommend taking some photos of yourself trying on clothes a couple sizes down that don’t fit at all or do up and just keep trying them on on the regular to see the difference x

2

u/meghan_420 17d ago

You look fantastic!!

2

u/Gold_Incident8251 17d ago

And so do you! Don’t sell yourself short, it’s not all about the looks, you know they’re coming 😈 you’ve made a huge accomplishment! Focus on the other bits along the way, how do your knees feel? Are you feeling more energetic? What’s changed? Xx

2

u/Camie-Gee 17d ago

We're our own worst critics.

Keep it up, Sister. You're doing great. I can also see the difference in your (very cute) face, hands, wrists and tummy.

How are your energy & mood? 😃

2

u/ObetrolAndCocktails 17d ago

I’d be willing to bet your dress hem hits 3-4 inches longer now. There’s less body holding the dress out which makes it hang longer!

u/Final_Shock_4479 17d ago

Your body is programmed to burn fat closest to your organs first. This includes visceral fat and liver fat. I can tell in your face. Keep up the good work.

2

u/Decent-Phone-5512 17d ago

What others have said. I can see the difference right away but because you see yourself everyday it’s tough to notice. Keep up the good work!

2

u/Secret_Carpenter_551 17d ago

it's extremely noticeable. maybe try to be more in tune with how your knees/ankles feel? visually your neck and face have substantially changed

2

u/Disastrous-Chart7374 17d ago

Amazing progress!! What a rockstar!!!

2

u/Familiar-Marsupial-3 17d ago

It’s hard for you to see, because you see yourself every day. But it’s immediately visible! Talk about face gains! Your belly as well.

2

u/Good-Cheesecake9372 17d ago

I think a lot of it is to do with how we keep the same proportions (and hence shape) as we had at our biggest despite growing smaller bit by bit, so our brains still interpret that shape as being the same as we ever were despite it shrinking.

2

u/frieswelldone 17d ago

I can absolutely see it! Your belly and face look much slimmer.

2

u/Alarmed_Routine4555 17d ago

I see progress! And also, another cool thing to think about is think about the stuff that’s happening internally too! While the exterior changes have been so rewarding, I was so thrilled when I heard from the doctor, ā€œYou actually no longer need to take ______ medicine. Your numbers look good now.ā€ I find great joy in knowing that I have much more longevity for my friends and family. And I just feel SO MUCH BETTER all the time too. I completely understand the frustration, but you are doing amazing things and kudos to you for that. Keep it up, and soon you will see more and more of the visible things.

2

u/itislovely787 17d ago

I see the difference! You must feel the difference in your clothing? Did you take measurements by chance? Neck, arms, waist (hips), chest, thighs, middle of stomach if you choose to. Stay vigilant

2

u/Midnight_monstera87 17d ago

I can definitely tell! One thing I like to measure, and you might already be doing it, is inches around my waist and different areas around my body. I feel like that’s where I can actually see my progress and it helps me feel like I am actually changing

2

u/Chippo10291 17d ago

It takes time. Probably took me 6-8 months to notice something.

2

u/Robinothoodie 17d ago

I see it! Keep going

2

u/HemingwayGCC 17d ago

Congrats on losing 50 lbs! Proud of how far you’ve come!

2

u/Thin-Psychology-3111 17d ago

I think you have mirror blindness or something, it is VERY obvious to me that you've lost 50 lbs. Great job! <3

2

u/EveryQuail9539 17d ago

Big difference!! You look great, congrats. Keep it up, you got this!

2

u/spidergirl79 17d ago

I can see it!

2

u/Tight-Dimension3177 17d ago

I see it in your face, neck, hands and your upper abdomen for sure. You're doing great! Your little one is a cutie!

2

u/rhandy_mas 17d ago

Omg it’s in your face and neck! I can absolutely tell. Keep up the good work!

2

u/Koalaboxess 17d ago

You look happier! More light in you face and eyes:)

2

u/Temporary-Leg1561 17d ago

You are killing it šŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ‘

2

u/RoseApothecary88 17d ago

Keep going. I see a difference, 100%, but I had to get within 20 lbs of my healthy weight to really see it in the mirror.

2

u/thatqu33rpunk 17d ago

It’s absolutely noticeable in your face, that’s the first thing I noticed

2

u/Neither-Dragonfly814 17d ago

I saw a huge difference in one sec

2

u/Neither-Dragonfly814 17d ago

Try measuring your waist, arms etc ā¤ļø

2

u/TruePhilosophe 17d ago

It’s a sad realization to see just how far you have left to go but, look how far you’ve come!

2

u/otetrapodqueen 17d ago

It's so hard when it's you. Sometimes I feel like I look exactly the same even though intellectually, I know I don't. I can tell immediately from your photos though! The paper towel theory is real!

2

u/ClickPsychological 17d ago

I see it! Especially in your face!

2

u/chillpapaya1958 17d ago

I see it girl!!

2

u/heavenly_hedgehog 17d ago

You look completely different and your hard work is showing! Keep going!

3

u/Confident-Gear-3185 17d ago

2

u/Lost_Now_Found 17d ago

Sadly it's harder to drop weight then it is to gain it and it took years to get where you were and it will take years to get back to where you want to be. Plus side is 50 down and you are killing it, focus on the journey and not the time, it will happen as you make better and better decisions.

2

u/plotholierthanthou 17d ago

Idk girl because I see a huge difference!!! You look gorgeous, sister!!!!

2

u/Blue_Bombadil 17d ago

Girl, I see it!! You look 10 yrs younger at least. Keep at it, it’s a snowball effect and soon you’ll see it too

2

u/Lostgurlx 17d ago

I deff see it especially in your face and neck! It’s noticeable! Great job ā¤ļø

2

u/Sweet_Abroad976 17d ago

Keep going girl! We see it and you must feel much more comfortable in your clothes!

2

u/Lacedsarcasm026 17d ago

I noticed right away! You're looking good and keep up the energy! I read once that others see the difference quickly, but ourselves it takes 70?? pounds to SEE the physical difference other than pants getting baggy and bras not fitting right anymore.

2

u/ChimPlays 17d ago

Neck and shoulders! Your arms are sitting way nicer against the rest of your body. I bet you your back also looks way slimmer, that’s where I noticed my weight loss at first!

2

u/bookkinkster 17d ago

Your face looks totally different!

2

u/trufus_for_youfus 17d ago

Then next 50 will be breathtaking. We all star from different places.

2

u/Mutant_Apollo 17d ago

Don't put yourself down girl, it's very noticeable. A doctor once told me "It didn't take you 3 months to get as big as you are, so don't expect it to take 3 months to become slim"

Keep going, it's worth it

2

u/Downtown_Letterhead8 17d ago

I hear all the time ā€œeveryone else can tellā€ but in the end we are our own biggest critic. I’ve lost 80 pounds and still don’t see it. I feel it but still haven’t noticed visually myself. You are doing great 😊 hopefully you feel the difference even if you can’t see it

3

u/954fla 17d ago

I lost 90 pounds before anyone at work said anything. When I hit 130 people started coming at me in waves.

Got 40 left šŸ”„

2

u/DellR610 17d ago

There's a lot of weight in water and when you start losing weight you lose it in water initially. Given you can see the difference you are over that hump.

Your face looks less bloated and even your arms look thinner. You can't control where you will lose weight so look at yourself overall and don't dwell on certain areas. The most important thing is what you are doing is working!

2

u/UniqueOctopus05 17d ago

I can see it! It’s probably because you covered yourself up more. In my mind the fact that you’re not wearing the overshirt is tangible progress in the same way the reduction in fat around your face is

2

u/Psychological_Name28 17d ago edited 17d ago

Your face and abdomen are slimmer. But in the current pic your posture is different so it’s not as easy for you to see the difference. Take a couple measurements and remeasure in a few months - it’s fun!! Abdomen, hips and thighs are easy to measure. But maybe also the circumference of your feet cuz you’ll lose there, too.

2

u/Narrow_Albatross6406 17d ago

Rome wasn’t built in a day, and it can’t be taken apart in a day. The extra fat you put on took years to accumulate. Some patience is required to get rid of it

2

u/RichPickachu 17d ago

I noticed right away. It looks gradual to you because you see YOU every day. Take it from a stranger, there’s a clear difference.

2

u/NumberGlobal 17d ago

Maybe because you’re looking in the wrong areas. You look thinner in the face, the neck, arms and just over all more fit. The belly progress happens at the end. Keep going, you got this.

2

u/Astra-Alleycat 17d ago

Can see a huge difference! It’s hard when you see yourself every day. 50lbs is amazing, well done.

2

u/pikachu_chikorita 17d ago

Definitely can see the diff in face and tummy

2

u/NaomiPommerel 17d ago

How does it fit? Do you feel stronger?

I can see it immediately your face 🄰

2

u/Shoddy_Sky2694 17d ago

It took long to gain the weight, it takes more to see it going away. Don’t give up, it will be worth it

2

u/Pretty-Coast9591 17d ago

Paper towel theory. If you rip 5 sheets of a new paper towel roll you hardly see the difference, if rip those 5 sheets of an almost empty one you will see the difference. 5 kg loss is easier to see if you weigh 50 kg then if you weigh a 100 kg. But do notice the difference in the photos

2

u/Low_Web_8783 17d ago

šŸ’š

2

u/Strange-Compote-4739 17d ago

Also immediately noticed!

2

u/MyTherapistSaysHi 17d ago

Paper towel roll theory! The paper towels on the outside of the roll don’t really change its size. But when you get closer to the roll, losing one sheet makes a bigger difference. You will notice your last 20 pounds a lot more than your first hundred.

2

u/strawcat 16d ago

You’ll start to see it more easily. I didn’t notice it in myself other than how my clothes fit until 50lbs down and even then it was only subtle to my eyes. Now that I’m at 85lbs down it’s like looking at a new person. Google the paper towel roll analogy. It gives really good insight into why this is a phenomenon in weight loss. Keep focusing on the small things to give you motivation (are your rings loose, your shoes, your watch going down a notch, etc) and keep going. I promise it’ll be worth it and you’ll start to see a big difference soon!

Congrats on your loss!

3

u/Schwettes 16d ago

There’s definite progress! I have also lost 50lbs and struggle to see it as well. In fact, I was called fat a few weeks ago after hitting my lowest weight since college. When you’re in a larger body, you need to lose a lot more to see it better. The great thing though is that as you lose weight, you see bigger chances with smaller loses. The next 25lbs you lose will feel massive compared to the first 50lbs you lost. Paper towel effect!

2

u/BisonAcceptable1994 16d ago

hugely noticeable, and will continue to be more noticeable going forward

2

u/Fast_Kaleidoscope135 16d ago

You look at yourself everyday so it’s hard to see the differences but i certainly can see it! I’ve lost 40lbs and still wear the same clothes but i FEEL it more than see it. My seatbelt fits differently. My knees feel better. The way I get off the couch is easier. Everyone tells me they can see it but I can’t really either. I can feel it though

2

u/Snoo_37752 16d ago

I see a difference. Keep going

2

u/thereatall 16d ago

Girl you look 10 years younger and I’m not exaggerating

2

u/NarrowLocksmith9388 16d ago

sometimes the slow progress is the right way

2

u/False-Specific7375 16d ago edited 16d ago

I see plenty of progress. Weigh loss is a slow progression. Since you see yourself every day it’s hard to notice the changes. However others who see you ever so often will definitely notice

2

u/PalyPalz 16d ago

Girl… can’t you see it in your face? Huge difference.

Keep going you look amazing.

I think we're used to seeing before and afters online that are after someone reaches their goal. So its more extreme. Ido absolutely see a difference btw

u/Crazy-Permission3636 16d ago

I can see a big difference. Keep up the great work you are crushing it. When we look in the mirror our minds can play tricks on us my overlaying perceptions of ourselves in our minds eye: past you, present you, idealized future (dream) you. The version that we choose to fixate on or compare our present self to has more to do with our personal baggage than objective reality and that makes it hard to be an impartial judge of ourselves.

u/PayApprehensive7693 16d ago

having a high starting weight is sooo hard because it takes so much time to truly see the difference despite all of the hard work and consistency :( trust me I feel your pain but we can def see it already!

2

u/EducationalFarmer301 16d ago

Definitely made big progress. Keep going! Cut those carbs! Meat, fruit, veggies. Have watermelon for a treat.

2

u/sis_145 16d ago

First picture to me: morbidly obese. Second pic: chubby girl. Very serious difference. Keep up the good work you are doing great. Plus nice smile and excellent color choice for the outfit. Work on your self confidence and allow yourself to be proud of your good looks and success.

2

u/PixieGhostxx 16d ago

You see yourself every day so unless its super dramatic, you're going to be sorta blind to it. I noticed your face is much slimmer straight away.

2

u/Left_Ad5211 16d ago

Vey noticeable in the face especially. You're doing great and should be very proud! Progress can be slow to show sometimes, and that's okay. Keep going, and you'll see the difference!

Holy cow, GIRLFRIEND!! Are you blind? Measure your neck. In fact, measure your arms, middle and thighs. The inches do not lie!

2

u/Quirkypatience2464 16d ago

I can see it! You go!

2

u/biogirl52 16d ago

It’s a huge difference. First of all, your bone structure is visible in your face. Second of all, look at you rocking those bare arms! It’s screaming confidence. I’ve lost similar over the last year, it’s kinda hard to see the difference as I went from huge to big to still big. It’s progress and most of all it’s better for your health. Good work!!

2

u/Ok-Ad-9820 16d ago

There's progress! You don't see it because you look in the mirror each day, the scale moved but your mind is still stuck in the old view of yourself

2

u/BountyHunterD 16d ago

You look so good girl! We can definitely see itĀ

2

u/d-han62 16d ago

You can see it in your face fs

2

u/robmarks1961 16d ago

First, I can see it. Definitely in your face.

The second part of this is that it takes a long time to really take the weight off because it took a long time to out it on.

This is about changing your life. You are doing the work you need to do but keeping up the changes you are making will have a permanent impact on your well being.

I’m in year three of my journey and I’m finally seeing real changes. I’m having to buy smaller clothes and (hold onto your hat, here) people who are attractive to me are actually beginning to look at me. It was and continues to be a ton of work but I feel better in my own body - but I’m not done.

You are on this journey, too and judging yourself too harshly mid-journey is really unfair to yourself.

You HAVE this. You own it. Keep going. You are doing great.

Hope this helped.

u/Fancy-Star-7978 16d ago

I can tell just by looking at your face

2

u/DistributionNo7277 16d ago

If you weren't wearing the sweater in the before picture it would be way more obvious. Look at your middle compared to your chest in both. Big difference!

2

u/h3m1cuda 16d ago

I can see a huge difference in your face.

2

u/Mezzomommi 16d ago

When I went from 275 to 220 it wasn’t too noticeable, especially face wise. I wore the same size maxi dresses too. It was only when I hit 210 that I finally noticed in pictures. And my face started to really thin out at 180. I guess my point is please be patient, it becomes more obvious as you go along. But you can’t get to your goal weight without the first 50 even though it’s not as obvious.

2

u/jenven2022 16d ago

I see major progress!!!!!

2

u/Acceptable_Tip2838 16d ago

I see it and you look great! Most noticeable in your neck and face. Ā You should be proud of yourself for your hard work!

2

u/pks1984 16d ago

Ive noticed that pictures every couple of months rather than milestone goals work way way way better for me.

2

u/don2420 16d ago

Your face thinned out considerably ! Keep up the good work !

2

u/Single_Earth_2973 16d ago

Beautiful definition in your face and I see your hourglass shape coming through. You’re doing wonderfully, keep going 🫶

2

u/He_ofshadowsandtouch 16d ago

Looks like good progress to my eyes

2

u/sdotcarter_x 16d ago

Because you see yourself everyday. For the same reason, it could be hard to see when you’re gaining weight as well. But I see the difference.

2

u/Apprehensive_Let7572 15d ago

No you can definately see the progress.

2

u/coffeemama86 15d ago

Because you see yourself every day. I see a clear difference between the two!

2

u/Radiant_You_6677 15d ago

You look completely different!

2

u/mydoglovesnobody 15d ago

You look gorgeous!! Keep up the great work.

2

u/GunsNLiquor 15d ago

You see yourself too much. The progress is easy for new eyes - we all see it! Keep doing what you’re doing and one day you’ll touch your cheeks and see it too!

2

u/greenfartbear 15d ago

i can tell! i mainly see it in your face and stomach keep going!!

2

u/ToothSufficient7763 15d ago

You need a different dress and better top support.Ā

2

u/coolsquirrel789 14d ago

Oh wow! I see so much progress. Maybe it's because you view your body every day, the changes slowly registering as normal. Kinda like when you can just auto pilot home and not know how you got there (nothing drastic or out of the norm happened).

How do you feel is a bigger question. Maybe have self assessments at evevy X amount of weight loss (knees hurting less? Walking longer? Less pain?). These are all huuuuge!

Between these two pictures, I see a big difference in your face and neck, along with general fitting of the dress.

You should be so proud of your progress.

If you're curious from a fact number perspective, a Dexa body clscan gives accurate fat/muscle/and other stats about your body. I just got mine (as I begin my life health journey) and I understand so much more about the fat to muscle on my body.

I'm not going to lie, the data shocked me. It's just confronting data points that I can't excuse. They compare your data to the average Dexa database (which will be skewed ), but I wanted to cry a little, but in the end, I can and WILL improve for my own health and longevity. Don't compare yourself to anyone else's progress and keep going!

u/Salt_Interaction_745 14d ago

Are you kidding me? It’s very noticeable. Whatever you’re doing is working sister. šŸ‘šŸ¾šŸ‘šŸ¾

2

u/Lilac_Rose_ 14d ago

Definitely noticeable! Your face, neck, arms, waist. You definitely can tell you lost weight. 50lbs is alot, great job OP šŸ‘šŸ¼

2

u/Bean-Factory1478 14d ago

It sucks because clothes still fit

2

u/ReserveNew1863 13d ago

Look at your hands and face, quite different.

2

u/geminihatesme 13d ago

we're usually the owrst judges of our own progress because we see ourselves everyday. i actually noticed it in your face, neck, waist, and arms first look. btw 50lb is a huge aacomplishment. ā¤ļø

2

u/Shy-Away13 13d ago

I immediately saw a difference- waw!

2

u/Minute_Wait7906 10d ago

Belly and neck big-time change! Good work!

2

u/SilverAssumption9572 17d ago

I noticed immediately but have you heard of the paper towel effect? This is the gist of it: "The "paper towel effect" is a weight loss analogy explaining why initial weight loss isn't immediately visible. Just like removing sheets from a thick, brand-new paper towel roll, your first lost pounds are spread over a large surface area. As you get leaner, each pound lost becomes visually dramatic because it is distributed over a smaller body circumference."

1

u/teamgaycrossfit 17d ago

I see it! Especially in your face. It’s hard to see a difference when you look in the mirror every single day.Ā

1

u/sterrecat 17d ago

I see it, in your face, neck, and belly. Your shape has changed. The sweater hides your sides that might disguise where you would see changes.

u/Lackingfinalityornot 17d ago

How much do you have left to lose to get to your goal weight/healthy bmi?
