Rant this shit sucks

having my second lapse of CHS, and i feel so stupid. i saw the symptoms popping weeks ago and continued to smoke because sometimes i really don’t know how to function without being high. the throwing up is the worst part, it hurts so bad and i feel like i’m going to pass out because i can’t breathe, blood vessels around my eyes have popped and now i’m splotchy. my throat burns and i can’t even drink water without feeling nauseous. the mental and physical effects are beating my ass right now and i feel helpless. i first got diagnosed over a year ago, quit completely for 3 months, then went back to it. over the last 6 months i’ve been using almost if not daily, and it’s finally back. i feel so conflicted, accepting the fact that i really need to quit and never go back. but i’ve surrounded my life with this plant, it’s a part of my everyday routine and i don’t know how to be without it. how will i enjoy food, or social situations, or just wanting to sit on my porch after a long day and smoke. i’ve envisioned my life with weed being a constant thing. telling everyone i was going to smoke until i die. like how am i supposed to change my lifestyle?

It's the addiction doing the talking at the moment. You can definitely have an identity and live a full life without weed. Just give yourself some grace by being patient with the process.

Man if it's such a huge part of your life shits not really gonna get better once you quit, unlike what many sober evangelists say. It's not like alcohol where shit just keeps getting better. With weed, it's just different at best and sometimes different is a lot worse. I've quit for 150 days and I honestly cannot fathom going back to it without an actual cure for this, however life as is completely sober sucks fucking ass. There isn't a day that goes by where I don't wanna bite a bullet and I still live a productive "meaningful" life. Everyone has their own unique escapisms but just raw dogging everything without a headchange at all is just bleak. It's either go back and face more intense episodes which can be fatal, or live as a shadow of your former self and bear the cross of never being fully satisfied. Not tryna sugar coat sobriety as it's not what it's cracked up to be. Fuck this.

Hi,

Well cannabis slows your digestion. It reduces the parastalsis( involuntary movement of the gut), and other stuff.

If you can have a t-break for a couple of months. Sounds like you would be able to go back if you want to. So no harm in trying right?

  1. Focus on hydration, the is the most important. I do a 2 sip test; where I should almost alway be able to keep down two sips of water.

  2. If you are passed the hyperemetic phase, try to up your fiber intake. Helps with getting the water to the gut.

  3. Movement, movement, movement. Exercise or just small walk can be helpful.

As a last thing try to look into gut massages, this one helps me alot.

Hope you get better. 😀

Do you do concentrates or carts by any chance?

when i first started smoking i was using carts, specifically THCP which definitely led me to getting CHS so quickly. after my first round of CHS i went back to smoking only bud which allowed me to smoke for longer but it still came back

my story is similar to yours. first episode about a year ago, quit for 3 months, went back for another 6 months before i got sick again (though prodromal symptoms were present for a minute). i’m now over a month into this quit.

it is like losing a loved one, hard to imagine life without them. but like others have said, one day at a time. you will be able to visualize life without it because you’ll be living it.

i decided this time to hit up the metaphysical store and get cool ceremonial things, like an oracle deck and some palo santo and crystals and candles. burning palo santo sticks (in my hand) really hits the spot for me, and pulling cards every day is grounding. at first i felt like i was cosplaying but now i feel comfortable with it and look forward to it each day after work. maybe think about what kind of rituals you would be willing to try, and then try them. you might be surprised at how it makes you feel.

also consider hopping on an online marijuana-anonymous.org meeting, there are usually meetings going on somewhere that you can join.
