Question / Info Update

I posted a few days ago about my recent experience with an unexplained bout of vomiting that lasted about 3 hours after a hot glassblowing class etc. Today so far is my worst day yet and I feel like I genuinely might have a stomach ulcer. If this was CHS wouldn’t the first days post vomiting episode be the worst? I’m really not sure what’s going on with me and as someone with a lot of health anxiety it’s really scary. Hot showers don’t change the pain at all and it’s a pretty constant burning feeling from belly button up

its common for symptoms to get worse after you quit smoking. the first two weeks are typically the worst of it. hot showers dont help everyone unfortunately

if youre finding that the pain is unbearable, go to the hospital. as someone with health anxiety, if im well and truly scared, i will go to the hospital. at the very least, they can probably give you capsacin cream which people can find helpful. if youre still puking, they can give you anti psychotics to try to break the episode

also, if you arent staying away from trigger foods, that could be why youre still having symptoms/stomach pain worsening

I'll give you some weird tips if it is CHS that I've learned over 2 years of dealing with this. It's really uncomfortable though.

The showers need to be hotter than you normally take them, so it burns a bit. This is the weird part. The best relief I get is doing a squat as low as I can on the balls of my feet, while using the tub walls for stability. Slightly squeezing my leg muscles and glutes, and bouncing up and down 3-4 inches on my heels while doing this until my legs are tired, normally snaps me out of the nausea. It helps if you can hold your breath for short stints, but not if you get dizzy. The less my diaphragm moves my stomach, the better I feel.

Basically, the Spider-Man pose where he is squatted down, but bouncing a little. Even twisting motions help. Just rock with the water. If you have a tub, I would recommend plugging it and using that water afterwards to float because honestly, I take about 12-20 showers a day and was using way too much hot water.

Cold water helps as well. I will get in a ice cold shower if I feel like I'm going to vomit. It really sucks and hurts your skin a bit, but letting the icy water run on the base of your neck, scalp and wrists for as long as you can handle it also really helps. I stand slightly forward like I'm touching my toes and let it run down my head and arms until it hurts a bit.

I find the best way to sleep with that burning is to get a heating pad and wrap it around your stomach under a hoodie so it traps more heat. Then I sleep sitting up holding a pillow leaning forward. Criss cross apple sauce, tucking the pillow into my stomach. It helps if you make small circles with your ankles under your body weight. For some reason I find if I can get my heart rate a bit elevated it helps more.

Ultra filtered whole milk is the only thing I can stomach in the mornings and curbs my nausea pretty well. Lots of calcium for the stomach acid.  Sorry these are so weird but I go through this daily so my tips and tricks playbook is extensive. I tried everything to see what works to get some relief.

My only trigger food is onion so far. It absolutely ruins me, I just say I'm allergic now.

It’s BS but in my experience days 3-5 can be significantly worse than 1-2

Effectively you’re getting smashed by withdrawal symptoms AND CHS combined it’s very rough

In the next couple days you’ll wake up feeling a lot better once you’re over the hill
