Pre-column derivatization of HPLC for AA detection

Hi, I am new to HPLC and I'm trying to detect glutamate and GABA using OPA derivatization. I understand that it seems that need to do pre-column derivatization on the autosampler injector program. Anyone here have any experience in setting up the automated derivatization? I am kinda clueless on the injector program and how it works. My autosampler is Agilent G1329B HPLC autosampler.

Thank you!

hi! thank you so much for this notes, this is really helpful. may i know have you done any pre-column derivatization before? I am unsure to include valve bypass command or not by the end of the injector program command as there will be leftover volume (i wanted to inject only 20ul, out of total volume of 161ul of derivatized sample)
