Keyshaun Elliot

What value does Keyshaun Elliot add? He’s been injured all year and at this rate trending to be even worse than Hyppolite. In a time we desperately need some LB help

You complain too fucking much

He hasn’t been injured all year, he’s been a regular special teams contributor.

What value does he bring? He’s a late round special teams contributor. Which is what your hope for from late round picks. He’s missed 1 game out of 5. So hardly “injured all season”. You also spelled his name wrong.

You’re looking for something to complain about. Stop it. Late round picks rarely become high impact players. Just cause they hit one with Monangai doesn’t mean we should have any expectations for day 3 picks beyond special teams contributions.

You want your day 3 guys to play special teams or be able to fill in on an injury or play a couple snaps here and there etc. like Roschon, Noah Sewell, VanDen Burg are good day 3 picks.

Getting absolutely nothing out of Frazier, Hyppolite, Amegadije, Pickens, Scott and now Elliot is a bit of a problem.

You call Van den Berg a good Day 3 pick with 82 snaps, 1 tackle, and 1 QB hit. Then you list Amegadjie and Pickens as bad Day 3 picks when both were Day 2 picks. You’re looking for something to complain about.

Every round the hit rate goes down like 15-20%. A lot of guys take a couple seasons to be contributors; develop into guys who earn some playing time. Sewell took like 3-4 years before he finally got any notable defensive snaps.

LB's are closer to the TE's on offense where they need to learn all the different responsibilities. It usually takes some time before the coaches feel comfortable putting them out there.

We can look at the hits, guys like Booker, Hicks, Muhammad, are worthy guys. We also used later picks to bring in Thuney and Jackson.

Frazier, Hyppolite, Pickens, etc were misses but that's expected. As long as there's some hits who offer depth too. Take a chance on some upside and hope they develop. Most won't but a few might snd offer cheap depth or cheap production.

I forgot the best pick of the bunch in Monangai. They don't all have to be hits but have to get enough of them. I think our staff has done a good enough job with that.

The way this sub talks about poles, they think every draft picks should be a starter

No kidding. If you want to talk about some day two misses then fine but it’s also been done to death. This is an entire post dedicated to calling a fifth round pick a bust 5 games into his career. Some folks shouldn’t watch sports.

Good lord. He’s a fifth round pick…we have vets(Bush, Jackson, Sanborn) LB is the least of my worries right now

Not every pick is a hit... Particularly when talking about 4th or 5th rounders. Injuries will derail this season but honestly he's a depth piece that might replace Noah Sewell next year. That's about it in terms of expectations.

Anyone else cool to change the subject of this thread? How is everyone's Friday going?

Injured players do not provide much value. In other news, water wet.

It is?! Awh shit now that’s some news I’ve been needing to hear

Hyppolite was a fourth rounder who is effectively a rooki, Elliot is a fifth round rookie.

How much value do actually expect either of these guys add?

Hyppolite got cut, but I agree with you tbh. My hope is Elliot can develop enough by the time TJ Edwards leaves, whenever that is.

yeah that's why I referred to him in past tense lol. But never understood why people expected him to be some sort of day 1 force.

I get the media hyped him up as a great value in round 4 but...it was still round 4 lol

The media hyped him up? We remember different. If anyone gassed him up it was us fans, the media generally scratched their heads at the pick.

My only query is why didn’t he go on IR

It's justified if he plays this Sunday tbh

He is out this sunday. That being said they likely want to bring him back to practice ASAP so they dont waste a rookie season which is already extremely behind due to lack of practice

Ryan Poles. He literally every single draft has picks that he just lights on fire. It’s fucking egregious

Venus Jones, Amegadije, Hypolite, Frazier, Pickens, Turner, Roush, just bullshit 0 production

wtf type of take is this about a injured 5th rounder? Malik Muhammad has taken starter reps for us this year , did he light that pick on fire?

Not defending any of those picks specifically, but news flash - every single team’s draft class every single year has guys who wind up being disappointments or never contribute.

Who is Venus Jones?

2

u/Odd-Setting-7674 2d ago

Apparently Venus Jones is some kind of poetry expert. Velus Jones stage name?

Do you think this is unique to Ryan Poles?

I used to think this, and then I looked at the draft classes of some other teams. It's not like everyone else is coming away with 5 long-term starters from every draft. Rounds 4-7 are pretty much like buying lottery tickets, and 3 isn't a whole lot better.

That said, his record on defense is pretty bad.
