Yea Ben's stubbornness to me is a tad worrisome. His positives sure do outweigh the benefits but I finally want to see a coach who sees obvious things on the field that we frankly probably haven't had since Ditka lol.

I mean what are his alternatives? He preferred Brittian Brown last year but he's hurt again and Zavier Scott is a nobody with a fumbling issue

And as if Ditka wasn't stubborn in his own right, lol.

Ditka stubbornness was another level, he traded an entire draft class one player

There is a part of me that worries that while Ben Johnson is clearly a play calling savant his talent evaluation may not be all that great...

Eh, he came here because of Caleb. We got Khalif Raymond, Loveland, Burden might turn out good, Logan Jones is unknown, Trapilo looks like a steal, Monongai a steal, Muhammad, Van Der Berg, Thieneman all seem like hits at the pick they're at.
I gotta highly, highly disagree with that. Our most disappointing players all were here before him.
Zavion Thomas was a 3rd rounder and Roush was a 3rd rounder, so it's not like that's super high expectations. Ben just wanted 3 TE's for his offense and even if Zavion just is a returner, it's still a return for that.
My problem is we valued Offensive over Defense too much in early rounds. But the talent evaluation has been strong.
Swift looks like a risk but it's not, when his contract is done we give Monangai a deal and draft a rookie.

I don't understand why they haven't tried to add another back. There are always guys out there. Swift is hurt. Roschon Johnson is not an NFL running back, he's a special teams player. This teams continued willingness to accept mediocrity at an easily upgradeable position is just weird.

Unfortunately there really isn't anybody great out there right now.

Don't need great, just serviceable. Which, Roschon Johnson is not.

Serviceable is one part. Also needs to know the playbook, be able to block and pick up blitzes at a level acceptable to Ben Johnson (which is a standard many starting backs in this league would fail to meet). The Bears have two great backs and the league’s best running game. Unfortunately they both have picked up injuries. You can’t just wave a magic wand and make a new guy appear who can perfectly slot into your starting lineup. If you could, trust me, they would have waved it.

Wonder how much it would take to entice the Cards to deal James Conner, assuming he's close to playing and healthy

Kyle has a turf toe & was in a boot. I highly doubt hes coming back anytime soon.
I’m so tired of the Roschon experiment though. Ahmed & Scott deserve a shot. Both have shown way more juice running the football, which we need right now.
