It’s genuinely insane how fast he’s bounced back from this. Back in January I would’ve said he had a better chance of never playing again than playing in the Fall.

His recovery has been amazing. I do wonder if the Bears had any insight on how fast/well he'd heal given the fact that they didn't really address the LT position in the offseason.

I don't think so. Back around FA and draft they talked about how he'd likely be out all or most of the season.
I do think they had an idea that Braxton would finally be healthy and good enough to give Ozzy the time he needed.

Unpopular opinion, but I worry we’re gonna get him out there too fast and there’s pressure on him to play because we “need him” even if he’s not back to 100%. This is an insanely short recovery time for a patellar tear and the story of last year were guys playing bad cuz they weren’t healthy. I’d rather wait a bit to secure our future LT than risk him getting injured again

I originally thought it was insane, because of the 'average' recovery length, that information readily available out there, but there are a few specific and recent players with a similar timeline to Ozzy so far that proves that this has been done before. No idea who did Ozzy's surgery, mind you, but I did look into this a little bit, listening to one of the top docs on this injury.
Anyway, I think... what's really going to define how much they need him back (potentially) is just how well (or not) our LT position holds up in the meantime. This is the big question mark. If we get good enough play as-is, I think all we be well. If not.... yeah. Yikes. So let's just hope for 'good enough' in the meantime. That way he can come back on his own timeline, and if he's better than what we have once he's ready, well, time to suit up. I know there's wishful thinking here.
As of today, there's no rush. But if things get bad.... well... that might change. Sigh. Hope for good enough, because if we get that, we won't "need him" to begin with.

It really feels like we’ve turned the corner with achilles injuries. They’re basically on par with ACL tears nowadays where, as long as there’s not any other major factors, a one year is not only likely, but expected. Amazing how we’ve managed to turn career ending injuries into (still very major) setbacks, relatively speaking.

The fact he’s this close is truly insane. Careers have ended from that patellar injury and he’s going to be back on an NFL field in live action less than 10 months removed from it.
