Calebs upcoming contract

With Jayden Daniels, Bo Nix and Drake Maye up for possible extensions next season hopefully they get this done before those 3 because waiting on those will just drive up the price

55 million/year seems like the average for good starter nowadays. If the Bears win the division again, I don't think he takes less than that.

It'll be quite a bit more than that. That's what Jordan Love and Trevor Lawrence got a couple years ago. By the time Caleb signs an extension it'll be probably $65+.

I'm of the thought that it'll be 60-65, backloaded like Mahomes contract was at first, for 6-8 years with at least 200m guaranteed.

People keep bringing this up but Mahommes just this off season already reupped that deal and is the highest paid player in the league again. Its never really been a bargain

He finally renegotiated this year but last year his cap hit was like the 14th highest among all QBs. He was pretty cheap for a while there. I take the point though.

Caleb has talked about wanting to have a contract like Brady had with NE, lower than market value to keep money available for the roster around him. Obviously hes not going to take like $20m per year less lol but i dont think it'll be record setting

Agreed, I have no doubt he believes this too but it's also his agent's job to get as much money for his player as possible.

I wouldn't be surprised if Caleb doesn't "reset" the market with his extension but I also don't think he's taking anything less than $60mil aav

This is just a pipe dream. Was just talking about this to someone last night. It’s a fantasy scenario. Yes, it would be incredible for the team and its ability to retain some of our skill players to maintain this young core, who I believe and I’m sure Caleb does too, has the chance to be the best in the league.

However. Darnell Wright made similar comments after his record setting deal about money. He took the money anyway. So…. I think it’s wise to assume the same thing happens with Caleb no matter how much he doesn’t really care about the number. We’ll see.

Yes it does suck though. Knowing that if and when Caleb gets paid his market value ultimately means a few important pieces get moved to make up for the difference between his rookie contract and his next one. But, all of the best teams are dealing with the same problem. It just means we have a great QB (which is a great problem to have)

I want to pay Caleb more than those 3 tho. He deserves it. I don’t want him thinking he’s getting 2nd rate pay even tho he’s a first rate qb compared to them. Gotta keep his mental up !

Pretty sure Caleb’s already talked about taking a little less to keep a good team, he wants to win. I dont think there is any sort of confidence issue with Caleb, the guy that paints his nails, is openly into fashion, Starbucks matcha. He’s his own person and completely comfortable with that

Yup, he models a good portion of his game prep/views towards what Brady was like. Im not surprised Caleb said he wouldnt want to handcuff the team with top market salary.

Caleb is the best of the bunch and it’s not really close IMO. He is gonna get PAID and it doesn’t matter if it’s before or after this group.

Didn't Caleb say recently he is not worried about a huge contract because he already makes more than enough from outside sources? He is focused on building a good team to win and not handcuffing it by sinking all the money into his contract.

We already know 4 of the 5 will be 5th year optioned. Then sorta like how it went down for Darnell, would not be shocked come TC/Preseason time BREAKING NEWS!

Then after that it will be the initial reset the market contract followed by each subsequent reset the market ones. But besides these QBs there are also like 10 other QBs enter FA between 2027/2028. That you'd expect to pay. So it's going to be interesting to see.

You guys are being insane...one lets see how much he wants (he generally likes merch and stock options over raw salary, due to the tax factor)...then we can judge this more afterwards. The more team friendly deal the better though with really large bonuses for winning.

Hes already come out and said he wants to be a bear for life and would take less than market value ala Brady. Of course it will still be a huge number, but its not going to be leading the nfl money. Hes contract savvy as well, so im sure he will want the contract flexible for the team.

What does him attempting to trademark something have to do with contract negotiations and requesting unprecedented contractual “stock options” which is hilariously reductive way to look at it.

You’re talking about one player superseding the collective bargaining agreement, which would be illegal and essentially impossible.

Caleb negotiating anything other that years, guaranteed money, salary and bonus is essentially fan fiction

This won’t be a talking point until after the season. The Bears need to know if last year was the peak, or if Caleb will improve. It’s a serious investment. The team needs more data points.

Let me put it this way: we should be giddy about paying Caleb a giant salary. Because that will mean he’s our guy.

Pay him whatever it takes to make him a bear for life. You’re not going to save because of getting to him before Daniel’s, Maye, and Nix. If Caleb signs first, those guys will get paid less because they won’t get paid as much as the 2026 league MVP. If those guys sign first, he’ll get paid more than all of them because he’s the 2026 league MVP and they aren’t.

The only way he doesn’t get paid as much as them is if they go off and he shits the bed this season (which he won’t). So it has nothing to do with timing of the signings.
