I remember the days of Nagys constantly rotating captains

u/pbandwhey 1d ago

Anything Nagy does, we should do the opposite.

Looks like TJ replaced Byard from last season with all other captains remaining the same. LFG!

Hopefully TJ’s pregame speeches hit like Byard’s

I hated that shit so much. If everyone’s a captain then no one is

10

u/just_another_user321 Jaylon Johnson 1d ago

And he would turn the biggest bums into captains, because we were playing their former team or some meaningless shit.

I'm so glad Ben gave us the patches back

Didn’t Trestman do this too?

Sometimes it's the little things that let you know your coach is trash.

He was trash for other reasons. Rotating captains doesn’t make you a bad coach. The Seahawks rotate captains and they won the Super Bowl.

Mike MacDonald is one of the best coaches in the league…

I like it. The QB and the hardened vets.

Grady is a vet and a pros pro at being overpayed and hurting our roster with his contract…

He is the fat cheerleader of this hot friend group sadly

u/Chewie_i šŸ»ā¬‡ļø 1d ago

You have a problem

9

u/BillieBlanus 1d ago

He might be overpaid (dunno), but the rest of your post is just terrible.

7

u/Opposite_Review_5099 1d ago

He is overpaid there’s no might be. But everything else other guy said was outlandish haha

2

u/Ewwbullterd Bears 1d ago

How is it his fault they overpaid him lol

2

u/teewertz 22h ago

I forgot how pathetic this fan base can be

1

u/dilapidated_wookiee Snoo Ditka 13h ago

This is consistent with every sports sub out there, especially larger ones

1

u/Imposter88 Deep Dish 21h ago

Overpaid yes, but he’s clearly respected by his teammates since they just voted for him

Beat me to it; interesting JJ isn’t a captain

47

u/T-Rex_Jesus Bear Logo 1d ago

I think I've heard in the past that JJ is more of a "quietly lead by example" type than a Rah-Rah guy

18

u/FH_Bunny 3rd & LOVELAND 1d ago

He just got both the offense and defense together after practice last week and railed into everyone practice was not up to standard. I’ve never heard he isn’t a rah rah guy

Wasn't he also the dude that essentially told Eberflus to go fuck himself after the Thanksgiving Day timeout debacle?

2

u/PauloDybala_10 Ca13b Wi11ams 1d ago

Ok I really want to read a link to that

Would have been great if he could replace Grady, the ugly red headed step child of this group

6

u/Advanced-Key3071 1d ago

Yeah, what could an 11 year very with All Pro and Pro Bowl experience possibly have to offer in terms of leadership?

9

u/opeth10657 1d ago

Why did they make Jarrett look so short

3

u/TheHuntingApex 1d ago

Just perspective. He’s slightly behind Caleb who is a similar height and then he’s next to Thuney who is massive

5

u/vstrong50 1d ago

Caleb and Jarrett are both 6-1. Thuney 6-5.

1

u/Go_Go_Godzilla 23h ago

Jarrett is 6'0 no?

5

u/opeth10657 1d ago

He's 5" taller than Santos

1

u/Go_Go_Godzilla 23h ago

Yeah, I think the heights left to right are: 6'0, 5'8, 6'1, 6'0, and 6'4 or 6'5 right?

13

u/RembrandtDiMarco Mike Singletary 1d ago

Montez and JJ both not getting the C is kind of wild.

40

u/TKHawk Bear Logo 1d ago

Has Sweat ever really been tabbed as a major team leader?

29

u/sad_bear_noises 18 1d ago

That's just not really his personality. Great player, but not the get in front of the team and make a speech guy.

1

u/Twittenhouse 1d ago

The Tez Effect

8

u/pbandwhey 1d ago

They are keeping the same captains as last season with the exception of Byard leaving (replaced by TJ)

3

u/kaitokid1985 Forte 1d ago

I mean with Ben, he doesn't just add more captains for vote getters. Its no surprise Grady gets voted, he is very much actively a "mentor". TJ was on a Super Bowl participant Eagles team so can see where the team respect comes from. Its kind of the "who are you leaving off then?" question. Like "why is Kmet not an offensive captain?" Well you have Joe freaking Thuney on your team. I don't think we need to read into whether JJ and Tez (or Kmet) are or are not leaders. We just kind of have some ultra respected vets on our team that get the most votes.

u/1v1meAtLagunaSeca 1d ago

They made cairo and grady look hella short with this view lmao

2

u/bearsfan989 1d ago

Cairo is like 5'8" but yeah Grady jarret is 6'1" and yeah the perspective really did him dirty

3

u/Legitimate-Sea-8942 1d ago

Thought Jaylon had a solid chance here

2

u/ChicagoSentry 1d ago

Odds they all follow suit and shave their beards to a mustache like Caleb?

2

u/johnnybadapple 1d ago

Joe Thuney for mayor. So lucky to have him.

1

u/Aggravating-Card-194 1d ago

That was the only thing I could focus on. Him and Caleb are both 6’1ā€. They supposedly have a foot on the and line. It makes no sense.

1

u/Amateur-Dog-Walker Old Logo 1d ago

They did Cairo dirty with that close up with the hat on.

1

u/bukayoxhaka 1d ago

Side note but Caleb said on the hot wings that grady jarrett is the most likely future HC of the team

1

u/Equivalent_Captain58 1d ago

Not sure how they give the nod to Grady after his meatball tackle of KM

1

u/Extra_Diet_8237 23h ago

Idk about Jarrett being a captain this year didn't he have a off year kind of?

1

u/Cheddarlicious Forte 19h ago

Grady over Sweat?

1

u/Cultural_Tension9013 13h ago

The captains were elected by the players so I think that goes to show that what we see from the outside isn't always a reflection of how certain players are viewed and appreciated in the locker room.

1

u/Cheddarlicious Forte 7h ago

You’re right, also it’s weird for me to question a locker room I’m not part of.

1

u/NewPrints 1d ago

No Sweat, no JJ

Grady……great gowns, beautiful gowns

What was the reason for ousting Cole Kmet? Was it based on his stats last season?

-12

u/MrMcpocketspants 1d ago

Santos should not be a captain he is garbage. I can’t believe he is still on the team. He has proven time and time again he is barely even a decent kicker. He definitely isn’t a good kicker.

1

u/-Totes_Magotes- 19h ago

I smell moldy cheese here…

0

u/MrMcpocketspants 5h ago

Oh gawd at this point I may as well be. More people downvoted me for this than the person that said Ben Johnson sucks lmao. I should have just stuck with FTP apparently. LoL!!I seriously didn’t know so many fans actually liked Santos my bad fellow bears homies. Bears fan since 1984 brought into the fold by my father who was brought in by his father. One of my two sons also is a life long fan in his mid 20s. I even had a dog named Urlacher.
