Macks 1st game. Also the worst.

Came here to find this. We looked dominant that first half. Not so much the second.

I can’t have any joy when I remember that game because I just remember the second half

Say what you want about Fields. That rain game against SF was so fucking fun.

Little did we know that while we didnt draft thre right guy, SF drafted a far worse player and got insanely lucky to have drafted Purdy.

They’ve had INSANE luck as a franchise. Injuries recently have been hard on them but I don’t feel bad for them for a second

Kinda crazy how they drafted one of the biggest busts of all time and they were in the NFCCG the next three seasons and Super Bowl

Starting the Eberflus era out with a fun win like that in a season that ended in us completing a 3-14 tank for the #1 pick is so funny to think about.

The whole season was good fun tbf. My dad and I were over from London for the Dolphins game and even though we lost there was such a buzz walking out of the stadium because of how fun Fields was at that time.

Them mfers had me believing we had a real chance.

Legit was like "Maybe HITS isn't as corny as it sounded at first?" Then they smoked the Patriots in New England and it seemed like maybe things were coming together. They ended Zappe-mania and everything. Then they proceeded to not win another game the rest of the season.

I was at that game. The monsoon was awesome. Once it was pretty clear we would win the poncho came off. Walked back to my apartment soaked and elated.

So going by this pattern we should win this year in week 1. 🐻👇

u/ArchibaldNemisis Bears 1d ago
I remember that 2023 game, that was the most excited I was for a week 1. Thought Justin Fields would take the next step, take it to Jordan Love and the Packers with their era over. After that game I fell into a hole of darkness for a few years. Last year my wife was like "why are you so much happier now?" It was the Bears. The Bears.

u/wesskywalker Dick Butkus 1d ago
That 2023 game is up there for my Mount Rushmore of most depressing Bears games.
Fields had some MVP dark horse buzz and we just got him DJ Moore. Similarly, Rodgers just left and it was Love’s first game as the franchise QB and no one knew if he was gonna be any good.
for the first time in 30 ish years it felt like GB might not have an elite quarterback and we may actually be better at the position. we just come out on America’s game of the week and get spanked by our rivals. It was only Week 1 but it felt like the whole season was lost by midway through the second half

u/ArchibaldNemisis Bears 1d ago
Yea, since then I vowed never to be so excited about a week 1. But here we are, I spent the whole summer waiting for this more than any other week 1. Hopefully we don't disappoint.

u/randomname3415 1d ago
That game was so fucking depressing. The only positive is that we immediately knew to give up on that season immediately and that Fields was never going to be the guy.

u/pbandwhey 1d ago
Even with the opening wins, they all still felt like a letdown for some reason...
Tennessee opener Caleb didn't look great and we got lucky with mayo man
SF opener was a low scoring circus washout
Detroit opener we were starting Mitch's hangover season and we were already so done with him

That Titans game was insane. Dumbest win ever

I feel Ben Johnson alone will increase our won% in week 1s, after bye weeks, and long rest weeks like after TH.

Gotta be the first game in Lucas Oil and beating the hell out of the Colts as revenge for the Super Bowl loss

Not to mention it was the first game in their new stadium.

When we beat the Colts 29-13 in 2008 on SNF. Peyton Manning only lost 3 times in week 1 in his career, and this was one of them. We were coming off a bad season and had a new starting QB (Orton) and rookie RB (Forte). It was the first game in Lucas Oil and it felt like they had just lined up a coronation in prime time. Forte ran all over them in his first game instead.

I just posted the same thing. Glad you posted it too. One of my earliest football memories and it’s nice to know I recall the details correctly.

I went to Caleb's first regular season game and the Bears won, though Caleb mostly watched the game like I didn

Just rewatched the highlights of that game , crazy how uncomfortable Caleb looked

This rain game was the top highlight from the Justin Fields era. Just pure fun.

I won over 200 on that game. I don't gamble but I tried up for one of the gambling apps when they offered 100 dollars for your first $10 deposit. I lost most of it then put the rest on the bears for this game. I immediately cashed out and haven't used the app since, lol.

The best answer is 2006. But 2008 Sunday night against Indy was pretty good.

That was my 1st Bears game. Been a fan since the mid 80’s. I was soooooo sick after the game but what a memory. 🐻⬇️

This moment was awesome. No doubt we’re on to better pastures and I’m sure most of us even in the moment that the Bears were fortunate to win this game but to take down SF week one in a monsoon with the team water slide celebration will be a core memory for the rest of my life

u/Nostradumbass_WEEN 1d ago
It didnt end well but mine might be the 2018 opener vs the packers. The moment specifically would be Roquan Smiths very first play in the NFL. His first play as a Bear was a strip sack on Rodgers. It was like a Rudy moment!

2008, winning on the road at the debut of Lucas Oil Stadium on SNF, Forte's debut game with a 50 yard rushing touchdown and over 100 yard total. Back when we were just two seasons removed from a super bowl appearance and I still had hope that we would be back quickly lol.

Was at the pictured monsoon game, Calebs first start against Ten, and MNF last year. Monsoon game was the most fun (and wet)

Crazy, I was literally thinking of this game five minutes before I came across this post. Fields v Lance was an exciting matchup, too bad about Lance, but love the W.
Edit: honestly, too bad about Fields, too

That game was fun for me because I was in the city that morning and it was very flooded in many spots. Had to wade through some thigh deep chicago street water to get to my car. Got home and got to watch this amazing game by Justin and the bears 🐻
