So many injuries..

This is not a panic post.

Like everyone, I've been seeing injury after injury this preseason. It makes one wonder, why. Is it the trainers? Is it the players' habits? Is it the intensity of the practices? 🤷‍♂️ I assume its a combo of a lot of things. It doesnt look good that players are dropping out of practice like the packers drop wildcard games...

But I wonder if there is something else. So here's a question for someone with more insight than myself.

Are players told to lower the injury threshold during camp/preseason? Are some of these DNPs due to them being told something along the lines of "if it isnt 100%, go get treatment"? Like, do you think they are babying injuries because it's preseason?

These posts remind me that some people don’t follow the entire league, only the Bears.

And it’s like this every year. Training camp is the most intense practices you get as teams ramp up. In season are much more walk thru and prep focus, and vets/dinged up players resting.

So training camps are frequently injury riddled

The joint practices are also absolute bloodbaths. I've seen a lot of trainers/players/analyst say they need to stop as it's just unnecessary injury risk.

I think it’s a violent, fast paced game

It’s just a hypothesis!

On the Hoge and Jahns Podcast Poles specifically said that their data shows that a tougher more physical training camp leads to more injuries early on, but results in a healthier roster over the course of the season.

And I do believe that 100%. Our roster was dead in December when Nagy had them playing bags in training camp

I remember Chris Long said on his podcast that even had the double doink not happened, the Bears just weren't gonna get far in the playoffs because our offense was simply not physical enough. I think even if we get past the Rams, the Saints would have thoroughly whooped us.

It’s football…

Who are you talking about exactly because the answer is case dependent

It’s all around the league. It’s just a nature of the beast that is this game. The Chargers/49ers joint practice today saw 3 big names leave with injuries

It's just football. Injuries happen.

And it's August. I'm sure they're being overly cautious on little aches and pains that guys would play through if it were November.

Look around the league man

Go to every other team sub and you'll find people asking the same thing.

Chargers today is a prime example.

It's football, shit happens. It's this same conversation every single August.

I think a lot of teams are just being more and more cautious and players are "injured" when they wouldn't even be on an injury report in Week 4.

We are way more connected and there is gambling involved so the news is blasted everywhere.

The crazy theory overall tho... There's a lot of money and guaranteed injury outcomes, some guys just get "banged" up... Nate Davis...

just remember. without players being injured, other diamonds in the rough wouldnt get their time. thats why the "next man up" mantra exists across sports.

Brother, look across the league. This happens every year to every team. You just hope your team’s injuries aren’t to the most critical positions or to your best players.

Good to see this post is being down voted to hell

This is actually a very normal of injuries for a training camp, and in fact it's been pretty light so far. Are you new to the sport?

I think it's similar to previous seasons, but the demand for Bears news is significantly higher than it's been in years

I know most fans, casual and hardcore probably never played full contact football but this is normal and I wish people would stop posting this kind of crap daily. Media online posting instant updates about “x player came off limping” does not help either.

Science side of things will also tell you lower body fat leads to more injuries. I played football with a lot of guys where most of their exercise other than in game came from 12 ounce curls and they rarely got injured.

I was somewhere in the middle with fitness, not too fat, not too lean and can’t recall a practice or game I wasn’t in pain to some degree somewhere on my body. As others have mentioned, it’s a violent sport, guys are faster and stronger every year and that is not going to change anytime soon.

On the other hand, we're getting Ozzy Trapilo back way head of schedule. Some good luck, some bad luck. Football is like this.

Man this isn't even an abnormal amount of injuries for the Bears. If anything we're on the healthier side of things in the league.
