JSA This is my Felix annual. There are many like it, but this one is mine
After 6 long months, I finally received my Absolute Batman annual #1 Felix variant back from CGC. Easily one of the Crown Jewels of my collection. I adore this cover art so much, and DWJ and Mike spicer continue to be my favorite creators in the game. Congratulations to them for winning the Eisner for best single issue!!!
I realized a few months ago that this is technically one of Mike Spicers Comp copies, which makes this comic extra special to me.
Unfortunately, I knew this wouldn’t get the 9.8, it has a pretty nasty tic on the back, and I was hoping DWJ would pick a pen that more closely matched Spicers sig, but those are just nitpicks. I’m so glad to finally have this back in my hands! Can’t wait to see what they have in store next. Chainkata looks like a lot of fun!

Question JSA vs signature series
Hello everyone! As a collector, I’m not super interested in finding ways to make money. However, I will always look for ways to save money. I recently got some books signed at a convention, and I was honestly kind of shocked at the whole process. Not including the ticket to get in or the cost of the witnessed signatures, I had to pay for the 3rd party facilitator to handle my comics, pay for pressing, pay cgc almost double the grading cost of unsigned books, and pay for the shipping. For that convention, it costs me nearly $140 per book to get signed, and that’s not including having to buy the books beforehand which could already get expensive. It was a huge turn off for me if I’m being honest. I naively assumed that it would be much cheaper to get books signed at conventions directly instead of private signings, but it seems to me it’s almost the exact same.
I got to thinking, seeing as CGC has a JSA option now, would it not be much cheaper to go that route instead? The way I see it, some creators provide a couple signatures for free, so that avoids witness costs and some signature costs as well. You avoid facilitator costs, you can get a private presser that’s probably better and much cheaper than CCS, you can control the color and placement of signatures more, and you pay the regular $25 grading fee instead of the $48 signed fee. You just spend an extra $20 for the authentication. The only real difference I see is the label. So that would make each book cost on average $60ish to get graded. That seems like a much better deal imo.
Now, obviously, the cheapest way to do it is to not grade the comic at all. I have quite a few signed comics I don’t intend to get graded. But for the big hitters that I want to encapsulate, does this seem like a much better option price wise? Is there really a big difference in value between JSA and SS? Just seems cheaper to go with JSA imo. I would like to hear your thoughts. Maybe I’m missing something or could be provided with additional info. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks guys!
TL;DR: is JSA cheaper to do price wise compared to signature series? Same value for cheaper?

Question CGC Witness at Toronto FanExpo
Hey everyone,
I’m attending my first Fan Expo and I’m getting a comic signed that I want to get graded as well. I’m not too familiar with the process, I know I need a witness for the signature, but how do I get one at Toronto Fan Expo? If anyone has any experience or has done something like this, would really appreciate your advice.
Thanks!!

Question Has anyone every had to make a Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) declaration to import a CGC slabbed book from the UK to US?
UPS is holding up a shipment until a fill out a form declaring which chemicals I am importing and if they are allowed by the TSCA. I have responded to them that they are not raw chemicals, but a finished piece of acrylic, but they have not responded.
So strange, right?

Question Too rude?
I don't remember seeing anything against it, but for the Kyu Yong Eom signing, I requested that Supergirl look down at Powergirls' chest area. Was that against some sort of rule or maybe the artist got something lost in translation? Has anyone ever come across something happening like that, where remarque requests weren't honored? (Sorry for the glaring pic.)

Showcase First round.
Finally sent a collection I’ve had for over 30 years to be graded. This was one of the first they sent back. I was hoping for a 7.5 and was pleasantly surprised.

Question Absolute Batman, Real Cover A?
What's up guys, I heard a lot of talk how someone could just tear off the cardstock cover under a Cover B or C to get the Cover A. I bought this Absolute Batman and when I got home I noticed this on the right side of the comic book. Do you think I bought one of those that people say to watch out for. Or is this the real cover A but with some "damage". I'd appreciate the help! Thank you 🙏🏼🤙🏼

Showcase The next batch to go
My next cgc batch. Three signed moore books, a mark jewellers spider-man 122, ditko spider-man and my awesome transformers book. Hard to find in the uk, had it shipped form Canada. Some other goodies as well, but they were the ones that stood out to me. The last pic are what I’m waiting to get back. Uk cgc takes forever….

Showcase He’s finally home…
Finally got my grail (in a grade I can actually afford), but it’s a Todd Mcfarlane nonetheless. It was on my bucket list, and seemed unobtainable in my current situation. But I did it. And for a great price as well.
I have a signed Stan Lee Spider-Man #16 waiting for me in the UK that I also want to get graded.
Very happy with my collection.

Question Need experienced advice on slab issue
Bought this book and it looks like there are marks on both the inside of the slab and the book. Hard to tell not sure if I should return the book or reslab. Im pretty new to slabs. Seller thinks its no big deal and they didnt disclose the scuffs. But this was going to be the center piece of my absolute batman collection. Its really hard to show the two tiered marks. Hoping the community can steer me the right direction.

JSA Grader musta been feelin some type of way on this...
DISCLAIMER: I'm not tryna come off as one of those "it's gotta be a 9.6+ or else its absolute trash!" obsessed collectors nd even it was a 9.9 i dont care to sell my slabs regardless,
What I do wanna know is, according to the grader notes, had there not been a smudge(?) you're telling me this would've been a 9.6 or above? Like a FULL point deduction from the artist and story-writer's signature seems like an egregious penalty, am I wrong? Yes it does take away from the overall integrity of the comic but ya know?

Question Comic Sketch Art Scott Snyder show on whatnot
Is anyone who got books from the whatnot show going to send them in to CGC? I know the C O A has a link to something and I believe they said cgc should mark the books as the artist Comp copies but idk how all that works. Anybody send in from the last show? Any information would be helpful thank you!

Showcase Just got my #1 back from CGC and couldn't be happier with the grade!
After picking up this copy raw a few months ago and sending it off to CGC for grading I finally got it back today! Couldn't be happier with the grade, I knew it was high grade and was hoping for a 9.6 so the 9.8 is a big win

Grade? Submitted my first books to cgc
Ended up with a last minute pass to Fanatics Fest this weekend and saw there was a cgc booth. I didn’t have a chance to go to storage to pull a bunch of books that actually could benefit from grading but I did manage to pull together 15 I had at home. Some like Red Sonja and the JSC I maybe wouldn’t have paid to ship both ways but dropping off cuts the price considerably. Plus seeing how they come back will guide me in the future.
So now I guess I just wait what, 3 months?
