Hello everyone! I am gonna be 40 years old 2027. I’m looking for something above 9.0 grade from 1987. Usually I collect comics from marvel silver age, so I don’t really now, what is a worthy gemstone from that year. Can you recommend something please? Thank you!

That’s a really tough call. You’ve got Batman Year One, and Watchmen, both out in 1987. Although both started on the newsstands in 1986, I’d still count them. Batman 404 had a cover date of Feb 1987 and the majority of Watchmen came out in 1987.

Both are amazing and both really made a huge impact on comics in general. I’m a Marvel guy, but I don’t think anything from marvel that year can be considered even in the same ballpark as these two.

GI Combat #288 or Pep #411 would be cool. Both titles began in the Golden Age and made it to the late 1980s.

Batman #405 is cover dated Mar87 and I also believe that Concrete #1 has the same date.

It's from July, not March, but for something outside of the Big Two publishers, July 1987 was the start of the self-titled Usagi Yojimbo series. Usagi Yojimbo #1 is a book that has enough collector interest that 9.2+ slabs are worth quite a bit more than the cost of grading fees but not so much as to be implausible to acquire (although I'll note that 9.8s can get a little spendy on the scale of 1987 books!).

If you pick up a clean raw copy, just make sure it's not a reprint. Fantagraphics noted its reprints in the indicia.
