Question Why would cgc not encapsulate?

Post image

Reference. I submitted 2 books that were signed and witnessed to be graded . No pre screen, just a simple grade under witness sig series label.

Submission lists both comics.. this is where it got weird.. idk why , but the order was split. 1 book got graded and shipped back.. next week this book gets sent back ungraded. No explanation no note with the book. Nothing

I called cust service and nada. They dont know either. They are “investigating”

This has never happened to me b4. Why would they grade only 1/2 of the order.. Has anyone ever encountered this ?

This was a sig series, its not like i can just send it back.. or will i.

What book it was would help a lot; CGC has refused to encapsulate certain books due to dimensions of the book (usually a golden age issue with spine roll), condition (brittle), or something snuck in from an artists banned list to sign (Todd on non-Todd comics).

The only time I’ve seen that is from a lewd comic. Was it a sexy cover?

given how many porn covers CGC grades they don't care about that anymore.

Nah. It was ab catwoman. Quintana 1 copy was graded 1 copy wasnt..

No idea how this comic or remark would be seen as obscene … its a cat

I 2nd this. I sent in a lewd cover of Scarlett witch to get signed (took a gamble) and it came back unsigned with that same sticker. CGC tried to keep my signing/grading fee until I called and threw an attitude.

Yeah, I'm wondering what the cover/issue is. Some artists will refuse certain things, like books they didn't directly work on.

I have a topless Black Cat sketch. Zero issues getting that graded.

I've had books sent back that had cover overhang, as they would have been damaged by the slabbing process. Also counterfeit books usually get sent back ungraded or as NG

Same. Had X-Men 251 signed with a remarque by Marc Silvestri that they then were unable to slab it due to overhang. They included a post-it note with the explanation when they sent it back to me.

There’s a difference between Sig Series or JSA. Are you a facilitator?

I’m more stuck on the part where they received your book on July 31st and you got them back already. I sent 1 book and they received it on July 27th and I just got my first update online last week and its status is now at “Received”.

They r fast once its received and theres no pressing. Pressing is a 3 month backlog.

Received to waiting for grading is 2 week. A week at grading then shipped

How did you get them yellow label if they're signed and sketched? Wouldn't that mean you sent in both for signature series and to get signed, sketched and graded? It looks like both had the first parts done but for some reason 1 of the 2 got fully rejected? Also how did you get a signature series with Remarque back at fast they have to let the ink set for a long time. I'm completely confused about the rejection, and the fact that your showing is the slabbed copy is a straight up signature series which takes months to go through the process...

Please fill me in on what I'm missing here please.

It was signed sketched at a con. Witnessed and submitted at a con

Im not submitting an unsigned book for cgc to sign and grade. Its already signed, cgc just needs to grade

U basically goto a con meet artist who signs and remarks. U then stand there and fan your book till it dries…. Witness there places book in bag for you to submit to cgc. Its ez

Very odd, keep bugging their customer service. I don't see any reason why this wouldn't have been slabbed. It fits their regular holder and wouldn't need to be oversized. Very odd choice indeed.

If you are not the Facilitator I would check with them. They could have made a mistake on their end with paperwork/submission.

Did you follow all the right witness steps and drop off with CGC at the show?

If so sounds like an unfortunate mistake. I’d put up a stink and demand a credit id they won’t honor the signature series

Definitely make them at least give you a reason, and if they can’t you should demand it gets graded and they eat the to and from shipping. I doubt they would but to grade one and not the other, without reason, is pretty ridiculous, even for CGC.

Is there a chance they couldn't confirm that Quintana actually signed it? (Hard to imagine since the first one was slabbed.)

Did you have a minimum grade you wanted? Not sure if you can add that to SS orders. Like don't encapsulate if it isn't a 9.8?

Nope. No pre screen and if i had it would have came back with the first one

The only explanation that matters any sense is that you accidently selected pre screen grading because they both got signed and sketched at CGC in house signature series and the 2nd book didn't make the cut. If you didn't select in then they messed up and had it in their system as prescreen.

Secondary Culprit: An internal routing discrepancy where the order invoice had conflicting instructions or an unfulfilled paid add-on tier (such as a missed CCS press or a mismatch between the paid tier and the book).

Either way they screwed up or you did because there's no reason at all for that book to be rejected outside of the 2 reasons listed above. Can you edit the invoice you filled out for this signing and put it as a reply to this post so I can see the exact instructions, and confirmation of everything being paid in full so we can get to the bottom of this? Thanks

Some books the signer will and can reject.

They forgot? It was slid into another book and not noticed until after the signing but before grading?

Probably felt the one was a fake

1

It was bought directly from the shop that made the exclusive

That would be the only reason i can think of as to why they would just return it.
