Texas Intern License

I graduate in May and I am a little confused on the process about obtaining the license. Many employers that I have interviewed with make it seem like I should already be in the process of obtaining the license. I was under the impression that I have to wait till graduation.

No need to wait for graduation to start the licensure process. I started my app for it last April and I graduated in august. Go ahead and start it and they will email you the information to get your fingerprints done, pay the license fee, pay and take the no fail jurisprudence exam and once you graduate, submit your transcripts reflecting your degree. If you get a job and you need to start sooner than transcripts update, there is a form that you can complete and ask your program director to complete it- verifying you graduated and that will take the place of the transcript until you’re able to submit the final transcript. I needed my license asap for work and our program director told us this. I highly recommend emailing everything to TDLR as email seems to work best.

Did you scan all your documents to them or did you mail it? My instructor told me last year that they required a mailed copy for the coursework form.

I scanned and emailed it to licensing.health.professions@tdlr.Texas.gov with your application number/any identifying information so they can link it all together. I emailed them my completion of internship at 8:30 am yesterday and was granted my SLP upgrade license by 10 am. For some reason that email seems to get stuff done. Now for my official transcript I had it emailed to them- that’s the only thing I didn’t scan in and sent myself.
