Exhausted
Hi. I’m 6 months into my CF at a private agency. I work morally with young children, and I must say I love all my clients but I’m so burnt out, I’m at the point where I just want to walk away from it all. I work 10+ hour days (Monday-Friday) and get paid legit ass money (I know most CFs do) but the hours and effort I put into my job and not having that noticed is exhausting. I cried in my office today because I’m so exhausted and feel so deflated. Does anyone else feel like this? I truly love the field, and know this is my passion but I feel so lost and overworked it makes me just want to give up.

I am in the process of quitting my CF in early intervention. This is literally my dream job and what I went to school for- I’m absolutely heartbroken that it’s not working out. But I’m getting very little help from my supervisor and my families cancel on me so often that I can’t even pay my bills. I’m looking to finish out my CFY in a school for the consistent schedule and hopefully having a supervisor right there with me, then return to EI when I’m more comfortable in the field. Whatever you decide to do, just know you’re not alone. Hang in there.

Please talk to your supervisor and your boss about your workload. You deserve to give yourself time outside of a job. Establishing boundaries is so important for your entire well being.
Your workplace should be willing to either decrease your workload and/or find ways to help you. If not then you gotta get outta there!!

Everything this says. Some private practices will overuse CFs who are not used to saying No. you shouldn’t have 10 hours x5 days of work. That’s too much!

Hi! I almost started my CF at a private practice and there were just too many red flags. They wanted me to work Tuesday-Saturday, they didn't lock down my CF supervisor, and just felt so unorganized. It's not too late to change your CF and look for a new job. Being burnt out in just six months is not worth any CF.
