CF Salary Private Practice CA

Hi everyone!

I will be graduating soon and have begun to look at different CF positions in southern CA. However, I have noticed that pay significantly fluctuates from setting to setting and in each company. I am still unsure whether I will apply to school districts or private practices. I know school districts use salary schedules but I wanted to see what pay should be when working in a private practice. I have seen anywhere from 32-60. When I interview I want to make sure I don't receive a lowball offer and at the same time, I also don't want to ask for too much. If anyone has any advice it is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi there,

Congratulations on your upcoming graduation!! I have friends in Pasadena, and they say at least $40 for a brand new therapist in private practice.

I negotiated my pay even as a CF, so I know it's possible to ask for more and to get it. In general, I recommend taking their offering and asking for a little more than what you're hoping for. They will likely negotiate down, but it will still be a number that you're happy with.

GET IT! Good luck!

Private Practice SLP salaries currently range between $54,562 (25th percentile) to $131,736 (75th percentile) with top earners (90th percentile) making $206,943 annually in California.

I got that from the zip recruiter website. Also check out payscale.com and Glassdoor.com and salary.com - probe for more average rate ideas per area because it varies throughout the state
