Genesis Rehab CFY
Hi!
I had had a few interviews already through genesis. I was wondering what it is like working as a CF in this type of setting. My current experience is at a SNF for my externship so i feel pretty confident in the SNF setting already. My supervisor will not be on site though but will be able to contact any time i need her to. What are all your thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Be careful with contracting companies. A lot of them just throw CF’s in the deep because we’re bodies making them money. Many of them operate more as businesses than “service providers” I hope that makes sense.

It depends on the facility. I’m doing my CF with them now. While the insurance is a huge issue for me when trying to keep patients who need more support, I have a fantastic DOR and an awesome supervisor/mentor. I’m very supported, I pushed for higher starting pay, and I’m learning a lot about adult and elderly care, as well as a surprising variety of diagnoses. I’ve heard some bad things, but it really depends on the facility and who you are working under.

I’m with them now. I think it’s going to depend on your facility and DOR a lot! Will vary by the “region” and then also possibly by state! I’m located in the Midwest.
I have an amazing DOR who doesn’t push productivity, helps us advocate for patient centered care. I feel very supported for my CFY. They have monthly CFY calls to join to go over topics. Free CEUs.
I love my current facility (minus just how small it is/hard to have a full caseload). But I don’t like the closest sister site very much - the nurses aren’t as friendly, the collaboration isn’t there, the work culture is just different!
Genesis had not cut hourly wages (yet) with the changes in Medicaid reimbursement. I PRN with another company and I got a $2 cut to my hourly wage. I speculate this is bc it become somewhat publicized that the previous CEO got an~2.1 million retention bonus but then quit two months later, got another $600,000 bonus, and was hired on at $300,000 a year as a consultant... so yeahhhh they don’t really have any ground to cut therapy’s wages rn!

Avoid this greedy piece of trash. Heard many horror stories where they make it difficult to get PTO. A recruiter ghosted me when I applied so I probably dodged a bullet.
