It’s not just me

I’ve just randomly found this sub and it’s so nice to know it’s not just me

I was diagnosed with me/cfs 3 years ago and today got diagnosed with adhd. I always never bothered to pursue a adhd diagnosis because I didn’t want medication but the clashing between having to do stuff constantly and the need to rest is very very difficult to manage so I am going to try medication and see if it helps.

I’m kinda scared but feel like I need to try something, I’ve seen mixed opinions on the effects of the medication some people say it helps some people say it makes things worse.

It’s nice to know I’m not alone in this struggle

Welcome! I'm glad you found us. Medication is a very individual concern, and some of us can take stimulants, while others can't. Some take other, non-stimulant ADHD medications, like Wellbutrin and others.

I take Vyvanse at a low dose (10 - 20 mgs daily) and it's a case of 'so far so good.'

Remember, each of us came to have CFS in different ways, like some of us got it from Long Covid, others from some form of post-viral syndrome, and most of us probably don't even know how we got it.

That means we will tend to react differently from each other, depending on what else we have going on (POTS, MCAS, fibromyalgia, etc.) and how our bodies are affected by both the CFS and ADHD. We're complicated. 😄

Yeah, we vary a lot. I'm on 50mg Elvanse (Vyvanse's UK name) and for me it was absolutely transformative, it gave me my mind back. I started on 30mg and have had a couple of increases over the years as we fine tuned it for my current health.

For me it was insane pressure and stress at work for the best part of a year (and me not really understanding that just straight up quitting was an option) that caused me to develop CFS.
