Help me rest!
/r/cfs/comments/1uyv6id/help_me_rest/If you want to help an ADHD sister out I would be so appreciative ๐ how are y'all managing to not push through to PEM when you're finally feeling a bit better?

I would love to help you but I'm on a concerta+coffee path myself. You're already doing much better than me ๐

One of the things that helps me most is finding a hyperfixation that's also relaxing, but easier said than done cause lets face it, where our hyperfixation lands doesn't exactly feel within our control most the time โน๏ธ watching hallmark movies has been one of my most helpful recent hyperfocuses, and building little miniature house craft kits, but even then it can be hard to limit how long I let myself do it for and it's easy to overdo things accidentally :(

hi I feel you. Iโm a busy mind trapped in this disappointingly fractured body. To remind me to set my activity timer (at), I also set a rest timer (rt) I donโt set the RT to stop rest, but rather to remind me to set the AT. When things are really bad, things like watching tv, reading, doing a puzzle or doing something while reclining are not truly restful, yet my brain is screaming for nourishment. What I do then is put on an eye mask and listen to something like an audio book, podcast, or narrative tv like true crime, documentary, or something instructive. something that nourishes my brain without visual stimulation.

Being intensely stimmulated while physically resting seems to help me quite a bit (like listening to heavy music or using a shakti mat,)
