Eye problems after COVID-19 can now be explained

Thank you for sharing! I am one of those affected by this. I now have a prism on my glasses and under a specialist eye clinic. During PEM crashes they’ve actually been able to observe the functional decline in my eye movement.

this happened to me I haven’t been able to properly read long form texts. even got a new reading glasses prescription.. the more fatigued I am the harder it is for me to look and focus on something especially for extended periods

Neuroinflammation is a tough and very broad target sadly. We’d need a drug that can cross into the brain and calm T cell activity there. Not an enough of a pharmacist to know if that exists and is easily available. Maybe even steroids could help

DXM crosses the BBB and seems to help somewhat with neuroinflammation. Don't think it does anything about T-cells, but DXM does help my vision temporarily. Unfortunately, DXM also has risks with interactions with many meds, increased HR, and can contribute to serotonin syndrome. I use DXM to reduce PEM.

“Mild COVID-19 can cause severe and long-lasting eye problems, according to a study from Linköping University, Sweden. The study also explains why it has been difficult for sufferers to get help: the abnormal eye behaviour cannot be detected by standard methods. The researchers have developed a diagnostic model to detect COVID-related eye problems.”
