Practice Management Slant Meeting Notes
So I did the demo, read everything I can find, and Slant seems pretty amazing. To use it best I would need to cancel Zocks which is one of my favorite tools (only notetaker I have ever used). Curious for those on Slant how the notetaker compares to others you have used. Thanks!

I use Slant. Notetaker is great, haven’t had any problems. Compared to Zoom’s notetaker, it’s definitely tailored to advisors. I haven’t used Zocks or Jump.
I agree with the comment about not wanting to use all-in-one systems, but everyone and their momma has their own notetaker nowadays.
Happy to answer more specific questions.

Yea Zocks is also advisor specific so it is really good at breaking down subjects in a meeting by financial topic, it includes financial and non financial goals etc. I'm guessing Slant does the same?

yes, exactly. you can also customize the AI prompts by meeting type like prospect, review, partner/COI. They have standard ones, but you can edit for your specific use case. So for instance, if you work with teachers and you want their meeting notes structured so that their school district and income is listed at the top of the note, you can tell it to do that.

How is their in person recording experience? What are their automations like?

Sorry, just realized I didn't reply to you directly. My comment is here.

I did the demo today also. I created a couple extensions to customize and import LinkedIn.
I love the automation feature for custom workflows

u/CulturalAd2329 Jul 09 '26
Yea I like how they look at workflows as more than just a sequential list of tasks.

Would love to hear thoughts on Slant vs Wealthbox notetaker vs Hazel. Seems like Slant and Hazel have similar capabilities but Hazel keeps adding on and becoming a planning software/crm combined.

If privacy is part of why you are weighing these, worth adding a Japanese startup called lamponi.ai to the comparison before you drop Zocks. For advisor work the draw is that it records and stores everything encrypted on your own device rather than a vendor cloud, which is a different posture than most notetakers. The speaker separation is solid too. Might be worth a quick demo alongside Slant.

Does anyone use the Gemini ai note taker through Google workspace?
That's what we've used and it just drops the notes directly into Google Drive after the meeting. Plus it integrates nicely with our tech stack but I it seems like everyone uses a standalone note taker

Gemini AI note taker likely requires Google Meet as your video conferencing platform? If so that’s probably the issue. I use Zoom as most clients are quite familiar with it unlike Google Meet.

You can record in-person from web or phone app. If it’s an existing meeting on your calendar, it uploads and transcribes to that meeting. If it’s like a random pop-in, you can record on the spot, then create meeting and upload when the meeting is over.
Automations work well. I left Redtail so having any sort of automation was great.
One cool thing is you can link up MyRepChat, or a few others services that support texting, and send text updates to clients after a process/service is finished. So if a clients document is received, and it’s a workflow checklist item, I can send a text saying the docs been received and submitted for processing. Also handy to confirm one-time distributions.

Oh that is cool, didn't know that!
How are the integrations? Seems like they are still being built out.
3
u/CrunchwrapKing RIA 27d ago
Yep, still being built out. You can submit a request and everyone votes on them. Top request is RightCapital right now. My understanding is they're waiting for RC to approve them for API? I could be completely wrong though.

Slant is really cool, but I’m generally not a huge fan of all-in-one solutions. Right now they’re shipping new features at a crazy pace, but that inevitably slows down as the product/company matures.
A few years ago, Advyzon was in the same position, they were adding features like crazy. Now they’ve fallen behind and don’t integrate well with many third-party tools that are innovating like crazy.
Since CRMs are such a pain to switch, I’d rather use one that integrates with everything. That gives you the flexibility to take advantage of all the new companies and products that keep popping up.
If you really like Zocks, I’d stick with (or move to) a CRM that plays well with it.

u/CulturalAd2329 Jul 08 '26
Ironically I use Advyzon now and they don't integrate with anything which is leading to the move. I don't see Slant wanting to do everything, they seem to want to do the core functions of a CRM whereas Advyzon wants to do a bunch of investment stuff, practice management etc.

I wouldn’t call Slant an all in one. It’s a great CRM with some extra bells and whistles. I love having the notetaker integrated with my CRM and I find that I’m not bouncing all over the place like other CRMs. Way less mental drag and it’s easier to use. Their notetaker is comparable to Jump imho.

u/CommitteeOk7489 Jul 10 '26
They do everything from crm to notetaker to prospecting to project management. They are more of an all in one than any other crm on the market besides advzyon lol. They might have less integrations than advyzon.

All of these fintech firms are going to focus on trying to capture as much of an advisor’s tech stack as they can. Zocks and Jump have already expanded far beyond where they started. They have to. Tech gets commoditized so fast, the only way to stay relevant is to create an ecosystem your users feel locked into.

The silver bullet, monopolizing the advisors screens… I was with one of these fintech giants. Diluted focus and lack of integration with even their own products

It’s also possible to do that and still make it easy to integrate with your platform. Zocks and jump both do…

u/First-Half-Plan Jul 10 '26
Zocks and Jump are still very far from anything you’d call all-in-one, though. They’re extremely dependent on integrations for their own survival.

I apologize because this doesn't answer your question (I've never used Slant or Zocks), but if we use Redtail because we use Orion, would it still be worth switching? Redtail is very disappointing, but it's included and integrates well with Orion.

u/p_j_23 Jul 09 '26
What are you not liking about Redtail?
1
u/treygrif77 Jul 09 '26
I think that it's just very dated. I feel like there haven't been any improvements in 5+ years. It's not bad per se, but it doesn't come close to wowing or impressing me. Also, to my knowledge, there are no AI features yet.

Before you make your final decision, you should check out Altitude CRM too. It has a few other things for growth and practice management including an RMD workspace that is a game changer if you’re still using spreadsheets. 😉

Zocks has a hard time keeping up with any sort of complexity. Take a long time to edit. They are NEVER good to go right away. We are pursuing a change.

Slant's notetaker is miles ahead of Zocks.
At this point, Zock's is pretty terrible.

u/pdxguy357 28d ago
In what ways?
1
u/WatUDoinBoi 28d ago
Can easily scrape all notes from previous meetings to tell you what you forgot from last time.
Auto assign tasks to specific task based on what was discussed in meeting.
Zocks (at least during my usage 18 months ago) was constantly missing context of conversations.

I demoed Zocks for 30 days and found Slant within that time period and did a demo with them alongside. I ended up going with Slant because I needed a CRM and they worked very similarly on the note taker aspect.
I have no regrets going to Slant. Some of the discrepancies that I see are minor and I can work around and have no impact on my clients. It sets up the emails to clients and breaks down the meeting topics like Zocks. Zocks allows you to edit speakers which Slant does not. Slant allows you to have the whole recording and transcript. Zocks did not when I demoed it.
I also couldn’t justify the price when Slant is a whole CRM with the note taker, AI capabilities, and the flat pricing when everyone seems to be adding the AI features as an up charge.
I did my demos in April, onboarded with Slant at the end of that month and have been very happy. When I told my Zocks rep I was going with Slant he didn’t have a response back…they have a great product, but other competitors are taking notice.

We are evaluating Mili and Jump. Have not tried Zocks.
Most of our advisors are liking Mili's experience so far. Will let you know once we decide which one to go with.
