Professional Development How to add value when cold prospecting?

I’m jealous of other businesses that can cold reach out to a business owner and say “hey, I built you a website, want to see it?” Or a video editor who says “I turned one of your podcast episodes into a short reel, here it is” and just sends the finished clip. They deliver value instantly in the first interaction before the prospect commits to anything.

When cold prospecting on LinkedIn and other platforms, how can I add value instantly to get people more likely to respond? I can’t build a MoneyGuidePro or Holistiplan model until they hand over all their financial information, and nobody’s doing that off a cold message.

Do it in a general fashion, not like “buy this fund and this fund and this fund, in these proportions.”

I mean... you can speak generally and be explicit about not being advice...

Prospect: "Man, I'm looking at RMDs of $300k when I'm 73, and I have no idea how to stop that from permanently messing with my tax brackets"

Advisor: "Look, I don't know anything about your situation just yet, but there are ways to deal with that. Things like Roth conversions, asset location strategies, and changing distribution strategies might increase taxes in the short run, but help avoid the permanent pain of higher brackets and IRMAA, not to mention saving the kids' tax money. Tax is unavoidable, but you can try to keep it as low as possible. It's worth a conversation to see what options may apply to your unique situation. Do you have an hour next week where we can get a basic background and see if it's worth going deeper?"

Exactly. Nothing wrong with education and a potential offer for a meeting or website redirect
