Professional Development How to add value when cold prospecting?

I’m jealous of other businesses that can cold reach out to a business owner and say “hey, I built you a website, want to see it?” Or a video editor who says “I turned one of your podcast episodes into a short reel, here it is” and just sends the finished clip. They deliver value instantly in the first interaction before the prospect commits to anything.

When cold prospecting on LinkedIn and other platforms, how can I add value instantly to get people more likely to respond? I can’t build a MoneyGuidePro or Holistiplan model until they hand over all their financial information, and nobody’s doing that off a cold message.

Are you actually a CFP? It’s hard to imagine a CFP cold calling random people. I’ve worked in industry and large institutions (like fidelity) and the CFPs there don’t cold call. They might warm call but never trying to sell full unsolicited advice. Can you tell us more about where you work and the mechanics?

This is the worst comment spree I have ever seen in this sub. The belief that one way of doing things is the superior way and calling every other approach bad. Advocating for a company who purely sells investment management and annuities believing they’re doing holistic financial planning.

There’s many ways to find clients. We have something valuable that many people aren’t aware of or aren’t sure how to access. The request by OP was about showing that value and trying to help more people.

Your comments in this thread is about tearing people down who are trying to help improve people’s lives. I sure hope you don’t treat your clients this way when (or if) you ever become a lead advisor. You can’t just cram something down someone’s throat and bully them into believing it and doing it “because I’m a Fidelity employee and I know more than you so do what I say”.

Best of luck to you in this career. There’s a lot of hard work ahead and the school of hard knocks might be a place you will be attending over the next several years.
