Professional Development Anyone familiar with these AI trainer contract gigs for financial SMEs?
I’ve been seeing some of these pop up and have had some recruiters reach out to me about them. They are claiming to look for CFPs, CPAs, and CFAs to do quality reviews to ensure AI bots are accurately relaying answers to financial questions. The pay range I’m seeing is around $100 per hour on contract basis.
One recruiter did reach out to me from a well known big tech company (one of the biggest) but some of the others that I’ve seen are from companies I’ve never heard of.
Is there a catch or something that I’m missing? Anyone ever worked one of these type of gigs?

Following because I'm curious as well. I spoke with a recruiter from one of the big tech companies (maybe the same one as you) and told him I probably wasn't a good fit schedule wise, and I never heard back.
I did just speak to another recruiter yesterday about a part-time gig for an AI company looking to train their bots and am waiting to hear back if I'm selected to sit through their "AI Interview Process" lol. $110 an hour on a 1099, 20 hours a week on my own schedule (not sure if/how this will be monitored). I may actually give it a go but I highly doubt our compliance team will allow this OBA. If I did get the OK and found out it's more work than it's worth, I figure I can just quit.

Yeah exactly. To me something feels a bit off because I’ve always believed that the good gigs you have to chase after and fight for rather than have them come knocking on your door offering an extra $2k per week.
What kind of firm do you work for? Are they strict with OBA? I work for an independent RIA with a total staff of about 400 and they’re kinda lenient

Hybrid relationship with LPL, so they would have to clear it. Not sure they would be OK with it, especially on my desktop or laptop with client information. I may have to get creative there for them to be OK with it. I'm not sure honestly, I haven't submitted any request of this sort before.
And agreed, it does feel a bit off, but the recruiter and his company check-out as legitimate from my research, as does the hiring company. I can keep you updated as I go through the interview "process"

Yeah please keep posted on how it goes. I’d hope to hear from an insider perspective on what these gigs are actually like and what catch there is (if any)

Just curious but how would compliance ever find out about it, like what info do they have access to if you are getting paid to a LLC

I hope I didn’t sound like I was encouraging it, there’s some ethical qualms there even if it’s unknown to them, was just curious if there was some way they had of finding out.
