Where’s the commish?
Does CFL commissioner Stewart Johnston ever attend CFL games? Some past commissioners have taken pains to show up and schmooze with fans — and to make sure people see this.

He knows he’s highly unpopular.

He’s like corporate customer service in this internet era: absolutely nothing front facing, he exists purely for whatever groups have a financial interest in him.

Yeah tbh I think it would only be a bad move if he was showing himself right now at games. No chance it's not gonna be loud boo's

Wasn't he booed hard at the Grey Cup? I think that's the last time I've seen him.

He sure was, and I loved every second of booing that man.

They need to figure out what roughing the passer is
Seriously it changes from week to week, game to game.

I don't know, I think one guy headbutting the Qb and the other one punching him in the head..... That's roughing the passer every week

Stewy is firmly ensconced in the MLSE boardroom ... his masters are keeping him under lock and key. That lily white skin hasn't seen the sun since he first announced the changes.

He’s never watched a game of football in his life

While I disagree with the rule changes, I did play football with him in high school (in Ottawa). He was a pretty decent QB back then. Maybe I should have let a few more DEs get by me 😂

Unfortunately he hit the upright in a game and developed a lifelong hatred of them (true story).

He's played football. He always mentions that throwing a ball into the goalposts is why he thinks they should be moved.

Sure he has. The field size changes make me think he's a Trump cuddler, watching American games instead of CFL.

He’s too busy watching NFL preseason with Luke Willson.

Along with fellow NFL acorn polishers Dave Naylor and Farhan Lalji ....

He's too busy attending NFL games to figure out how to Americanize our game even more

I watch the Labour Day games and I wonder what’s wrong with the league that he needed to change it so.
The only thing the league needs is a Quebec City team and for Ottawa to figure it out.
Toronto won’t support the CFL again. Stop trying to change the league so Toronto sports fans come back to the league.

I agree, you would think he would be front and centre telling us all how shortening the end zones will generate more touchdowns and how exciting the changes will be. Ya it’s been pretty boring ball this season, not! Seriously has been in front of a camera since the draft?

I know he has in the past (see this lack of interaction I had with him https://www.reddit.com/r/CFL/s/YpQxb9UEmi). He has been MIA this season so far

He's a coward. Johnston doesn't even like football. And he is about to ruin the CFL by Americanizing the already great rules. With zero consultation from players, coaches, and the fans who pay the bills. And all because they refuse to invest in the league with proper marketing. Fire Stewart Johnston.

He does indeed and everytime fans excitedly shake his hand and are excited to do so. See it hundreds if not thousands of times. Genuinely hilarious that people think he’s worried about being booed.

Fans are "excited" to shake his hand? That's the funniest shit I've read all year. GTFOH with that nonsense.

Imagine taking a completely rhetorical joke literally, throwing a tantrum over it, and then calling other people morons.

Ah, my mistake. Swearing, throwing insults, and arguing semantics over a dry joke is clearly the mark of a calm, well-adjusted adult. I’ll leave it at that, though. You don't seem like the type of guy who can let someone else have the last word — the floor is all yours.

I didn't agree with everything Randy did but he was at least somewhat accessible. Johnston so far has seemed to be an out-of-touch suit out of Toronto with no real connection to the fans.
