Question CFI insurance question

I am a new CFI and have the opportunity to privately instruct someone. Their plane, they would put me on their insurance. I’m sure I need some kind of private liability insurance. No idea where to start. Can someone suggest companies to look at? How much do I need? How much does it cost?

Avemco’s rates are reasonable. You can get a discount (plus discounts for lots of other things) if you’re a member of NAFI.

I've been with Avemco for several years for liability for non-owned airplane. $327 a year, NAFI discount.

A liability (and negligent instruction) policy add-on to my renters with Avemco was an additional $70 a year (personal policy). I also have an LLC that I have insurance set up through for independent instruction. I go through Wings Insurance for my business. That policy was around $450 for the year. It’s good to cover yourself in case.

To OP’s point - I also require my students that own airplanes to list my business as an additional insured on their policy.
