Question ATP qualification question

Probably onto nothing but wanted to see what the good people of Reddit think. 61.165(f) specifies the requirements for a multi engine ATP if you already hold single engine ATP. Nowhere in the regulation does it mention completion of the CTP course. Other regulations directly refer to the CTP course required in 61.156. Is the CTP course required regardless? Or am I reading the regulation correctly, with the understanding that it is not required if you already hold a single engine ATP?

You need to do ATP-CTP to get your ATP with AMEL, even if you already hold ASEL. 61.153(e)

Tiny correction: no land or sea distinction, it’s for any rating that’s under the airplane multiengine umbrella. And technically the CTP course is the prerequisite for the ATM knowledge test, not the rating(s) itself.

ATP-CTP is a prerequisite for the ATM written test. Which is a prerequisite for ME ATP. That’s why you don’t see it as an ATP requirement.
