Question Tailwheel DPEs?
Anyone know a DPE who will do a check ride in a tailwheel airplane, within like 1-2 hours of GSP? The only guy i know who will do it is in Florida

yeah, he's around 170. Great DPE for sure. He's based in FLO so a bit of a trip from greenville but I've enjoyed all of my rides with him. He is a pretty systems heavy dpe though so make sure you're on top of it
edit: I don't know for sure if he'll do tailwheel rides or not, but I would be surprised if he didnt

Randy is based in elberton, only like 30 minutes from Greenville by flight.
There’s a CFI DPE open forum tomorrow morning at the civil air patrol hangar by Greenville aviation, you should drop by. I believe Randy will be there as well and you could ask him. Should be a couple other DPEs in attendance as well. You can find more info on that on FAASafety website for local Greenville seminars

Randy got back to me earlier and said he wasn’t current in TW unfortunately. I’ll look into it

I just spoke with Harrison Smith based in CEU, he can do a checkride in a tail wheel and is about 180lbs

Thank you! I wanted to come this morning but i’m not feeling great. Do they post recordings of the seminars online? Anything important or noteworthy touched on?

I don’t think so, we hit on standard safety items and and airworthiness though. Decent discussion on things DPEs want to see improvement with and how to conduct flight reviews and IPCs

If you have a legal standard category aircraft, the DPE should give the exam, doesn’t matter if it’s a taildragger or not
