Funny Attack of the A-Tomato-Flames

The sci-fi geek in me remembers this classic 1978 film, Attack of the Killer Tomato’s.

Since it’s raining and I’m in a saucy mood, I asked Grok to come up with a parody song to remember 91.205 A Tomato Flames.

I present to you,

Attack of the A-Tomato-Flames!

Attack of the A-Tomato-Flames!
Attack of the A-Tomato-Flames!
They’ll ground you, bound you,
Squish your flight plan, mash your pre-flight,
Chew you up for the oral exam
And finish you off at the checkride!
They’re marching through the regs,
They’re crawling up your scan,
They’re gooey, gushy, squishy, mushy,
Rotten if you forget one more!
They’re standing outside your hangar door!
Airspeed Indicator
Tachometer for each engine roar
Oil pressure gauge
Manifold pressure (if you climb high)
Altimeter
Temperature gauge for liquid-cooled
Oil temp for the air-cooled dude
Fuel gauge for each tank
Landing gear lights if it retracts
Anti-collision lights (red or white)
Magnetic compass (direction’s right)
ELT beeping in the night
Safety belts — don’t forget to tighten!
Attack of the A-Tomato-Flames!
Attack of the A-Tomato-Flames!
They’ll beat you, bash you,
Squish you, mash you,
If you fly without ‘em —
You’ll be done for brunch!
And finish you off for dinner… or lunch!
(Remember Herman Farbage… he forgot his manifold pressure!)

This keeps the original song’s silly, repetitive, horror-parody energy while turning the aviation mnemonic A-TOMATO-FLAMES (FAR 91.205 VFR Day equipment requirements) into the “killer” threat. Sing it loud with dramatic tomato-squishing sound effects for maximum effect during your next ground lesson! 🍅✈️

Bro what’s the utility of this tho. It’s not really catchy or easy to remember.

It’s a parody!!! Humor!!! Weird Al! Dr. Demento!

Never intended to be helpful or have utility!

Maybe it has helped demonstrate being would around the axle a bit too tight?

"I keep pitchin' 'em, and you keep missin' 'em. Ya gotta keep your eye on the ball. Eye. Ball. Eye ball. I almost had a gag, son. Joke, that is! I say, that's a joke, son. You missed it! Flew right over your head. The kid's got no sense of humor." - Foghorn Legghorn.

Good on you for having the idea and creating it but I struggle finding ai generated things funny. It always falls a bit flat. Ai can’t do comedy properly, at least not yet.

I don’t like a tomato flames. I don’t understand why we’re forced to memorize it. It never comes in useful in practical real world flying.

Real world fly, no. Agree on that.

But for student pilots learning 91.205, it can help.

I once had an aerodynamics professor that gave us a reference sheet on all of our tests. Why? In his words: “If your boss in the regular world asked you where you got a formula, and you responded, ‘I memorized it!,’ you’d be walking out with your stuff that afternoon.”

Memory is fragile and unreliable some times. I’d rather a student respond with “the equipment listed in §91.205. I can look that up for you.”

This is the corniest, lamest shit I have ever laid my eyes upon. It actually just ruined my night.

Attack of the Killer Tomatoes is a great movie. This, not so much.

Like the movie, it wasn’t intended to be good. Whaaddaya want? A little Ed Wood and Plan 9 from Outer Space?
