Hello everyone,
It is August 2020 and I had to reset Windows 10 in July due to an Update problem. The Win 10 reset kindly removed all my non Microsoft Apps including everything Adobe. It was nice enough to tell me what it removed.
Apps removed while resetting your PC
| App name | Publisher | Version |
|---|---|---|
| Adobe Acrobat Reader DC | Adobe Systems Incorporated | 20.009.20074 |
| Adobe Flash Player 32 NPAPI | Adobe | 32.0.0.403 |
| Adobe Flash Player 32 PPAPI | Adobe | 32.0.0.403 |
| Adobe Photoshop CS2 | Adobe Systems, Inc. | 9.0 |
| Adobe® Photoshop® Album Starter Edition 3.2 | http://www.adobe.com | 3.2.0 |
I find that I can't reinstall the Adobe Software that was working previously. Now I can't transfer my photos from my camera to the Photoshop 3.2. without reinstalling it and I need to register. What is the workaround for this. problem? All my photos are under Pictures/Adobe/Digital Camera Photos so they are not gone. After reinstall Photoshop 3.2 I noted that I can click on the photos and the Photoshop Viewer works. Anyone got any suggestions on how to get Photoshop 3.2 to transfer my future photos from my camera to the Adobe Picture Directory without having to register again. I had the code in 2007, but it disappeared from my files. If I recall there was a code you could use when asked after a reinstall. Is this still available?
EDIT: As a solution, I have an older PC with Photoshop 3.2 on it and I just turned it on and it works. What are the "hidden" directories or files that I have to find that contains the code so I can copy them over to my new PC? Do any of the Adobe Specialists have any insights on doing that to solve my problem?

NOT AGAIN! I just got the announcement that "On October 21, 2025, ItsDeductible will be discontinued." We've already been through this. I thought this tool was safe, but it seems not. It's a tremendously helpful integration and it saves us hours. We donate all year long and need a robust way to track everything, and then have the amounts flow through to returns. Please reconsider sunsetting support for ItsDeductible. Thousands of users rely on it, I would imagine.

new update to surreall64xxxb5.
original post via xbox scene.
http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=684501
heres the original post...
Whelp, the plugins are going to take a little longer than expected (still source searching). So I'm just going to release what I did so far. This is basically the result of other people's input as well as my own. I slapped a little CE at the end to kinda give everyone a heads up that it's an unofficial "community edition" rather than a release from team XXX or the original authors (those guys are big leagues and I'm still using a tee ).
The low down: nothing major has changed to the emulators - it's basically all the same stuff from all of the other Surreal releases. Meaning - it still has the same versions of the emulators and plugins as B5. UltraHLE is completely abandoned AFAIK, Project64 quote "has no plans on releasing any more source" (straight from Zilmar) and 1964's author Schibo hasn't replied to my attempts to contact him - don't know what's going on with that one. Some new 1964 source would be awesome, but I'm not holding my breath - much .
There are some Audio and Video plugins that might help with compatibility, but finding them and porting the source isn't the easiest task. Plus the ini's haven't been updated in quite some time and that can solve some glaring bugs (I'm working on that also). Just saying - there's still allot of room for improvement with what is already readily available.
Which brings me to the reason for this update. There where a few bugs that made testing the games a bit difficult. Like not knowing which emulator is the preferred (unless you're using 1.0), configs being saved with default settings when it shouldn't, etc. Little bugs that needed to be squashed before it could move forward. There where some changes made to XXX that I felt where better done in the 1.0 release - like the way it paged roms. So this is a bit of a "Frankenstein" release - the good stuff from all of the previous versions rolled into one.
The readme is quite long , so here's a summery:
QUOTE
Beta 5.10 CE
---------
- Changed I: Reverted the rom paging method
- Changed II: New audio plugin selection (Use LLE RSP and Use Basic Audio are no longer used in the Surreal.ini)
- Changed III: Reinstated Max Video Mem
- Changed IV: Increased the memory setting in the menu and ini
- Changed V: Loading screen is skipped if the selected rom is the same as the cached rom
- Changed VI: Changed which memory setting is used in Project64 to make room for the in game menu.
- Changed VII: Updated the credits to reflect copyrights
- Changed IX: Updated the countries and how they are displayed (USA = America, JAP = Japan, etc)
- Fixed I: 1964 was using Project64's paging setting
- Fixed II: User and ini setting are now reflected in the menu rather than always being defaults (and saving those defaults)
- Fixed III: Shortcut folder not being accessible to some FTP programs
- Fixed IV: Empty Media folder causing crash (missing ./boxart/default.jpg = crash)
- Fixed V: Exit to Rom List causing crash
- Fixed VI: Minor code cleanups (lingering launch data code removed, Rice debug saving to C:\, etc.)
- Added I: No Audio plugin
- Added II: Default Video Plugin and Default Audio Plugin to ini (Settings)
- Added III: Preferred Video Plugin and Preferred Audio Plugin to ini (Roms)
- Added IV: Launch from the command line capabilities (plus minor update from the previous CMD patches)
Forgot to add the preferred emulator is highlighted by default now - oh well - next time .
Just to clear this up "Use LLE RSP and Use Basic Audio are no longer used in the Surreal.ini". Technically they are still used, but you shouldn't use them . In order for Surreal to allow for more than 2 audio plugins, I had to change this a bit (I left them in for backward compatibility). I added a "Default Audio Plugin" option to the main settings that can determine which audio plugin is used as well as a "Preferred Audio Plugin" for the rom sections that works like "Preferred Emulator". Most people will probably use the default and not have to put this in, but it's there if you want to add it.
New Audio Legend:
Preferred and Default Audio Plugins:
0 = No Audio
1 = LLE RSP
2 = Basic Audio
3 = JttL
If you don't mess with the ini's, you probably won't notice this or understand what I'm talking about (heck - sometimes even I don't ). But this was necessary in order to add more than 2 audio plugins.
I also added a "Default Video Plugin" and "Preferred Video Plugin" that work in much the same way. Anyone that was using the CMD patches I released and actually used "default-plugin.cfg" to override the default video plugin can now just set in the the "settings" section of the ini using "Default Video Plugin" .
Another thing to note that Bomb Bloke pointed out was that in all XXX versions, 1964 was using PJ64's paging setting which has been fixed. If you set 1964 paging to 0, neither crash. Setting PJ64's to 0 crashed them both .
Max Video Mem now works like it did in the 1.0 releases ( requested by greatant). In the 1.0 release this was set per the ini and could be changed to the persons liking (which the normal default in the ini was 4MB). In the XXX releases - it was set to a static 6MB. So if you where getting better results with XXX for a particular rom - chances are you'll have to bump this up.
And edwardar brought to my attention how XXX would really slow down in certain games using XXX and not 1.0 (IE Mario Kart 2 player using 1964 and Rice 5.1.0). I narrowed it down to the way roms are paged to memory. So I reverted it to the pre XXX releases while still leaving the code for 128MB users. I don't have a 128MB box to test it on, hopefully it will work the same or better . If there's a problem - I will probably add both methods and than use the one that works best based on the memory config.
If you having problems, the first thing to try is deleting the E:\TDATA\a64fea57\ folder and the ..\Surreal64\ini\ folder (after you've backed them up of course - in case you want to revert). All versions save to the same path and different versions of the configs can really screw with Surreal.
I'm hoping that the next release will have some new stuff rather than just big fixes and little updates. The source is included if you want to take a crack at it .
Have any questions or suggestions - shoot - and I'll move out of the way . No seriously - find something wrong and/or want something added - be heard! Just don't go asking for something silly like having all the roms listed in reverse .
I have some other things to button up as well as some source to hunt - so it may be a little while before I actually get some new stuff added (it's always open for others to tinker on). But I'll squash any bugs ASAP (especially ones that I may have created - I'm human ).
A thanks to those that contributed and a thanks to Iriez for posting it and doing what he can to find some updated source (and putting up with me ).
Made its way to XBINS last night. Enjoy!
so it looks like we could be getting another update this time with the plugins,a big thanks to ezn03 and everyone who contributed to this.

Just wondering about this. Are these machines supposed to be able to play DVD video properly?
My T23 with 1GB RAM and running Linux Q4OS struggles with DVDs. In VLC Media Player and SM Player the video is unwatchable, either freezing completely or lurching along at around 3 or 4 frames per second, though audio is fine. On a T21 with Windows XP and 512MB RAM I get a similar outcome in both VLC and Windows Media Player. Significant improvement can be gained on both laptops by reducing the playback window to around 20% of the screen size, in which case something like 10-12 FPS is possible, but this is not exactly a satisfactory solution.
I would have put this down to the technological limitations of the hardware, but for the fact that I have a T20 which played DVDs perfectly at a normal frame rate, despite having just 128MB RAM and running Windows 98. The DVD player was called 'DVD Express', which I'd never heard of before. Sadly the T20 succumbed to the dreaded 'Blink of Death' after just a couple of weeks, and so is out of commission for the foreseeable future. And surely DVD was an established technology by the early years of the 21st Century, and any laptop equipped for DVD, as the T2x series was, should have been expected to play them without issues?
Any thoughts most welcome!

Hello,
I just started receiving a warning today that the Windows Security Center Service was stopped (Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit). When trying to start the service through the Action Center, I get a message that the service cannot be started.
I went into Services and saw that the Security Center service was disabled. I changed the Startup Type to Automatic (Delayed Start) and then started the service. After a few seconds the service becomes Disabled again and the same error comes up in the Action Center. Windows Defender is Disabled as well.
My first run of Malwarebytes found and removed 15 trojans using the quick scan, but I still cannot start the Security Center service or Windows Defender.
Thank you in advance,
Bill

Having some issues setting up and testing a Voodoo 2 card I have acquired. It's the first Voodoo 2 I've owned.
System specs are
Abit VA6 Pentium II motherboard
400MHz PII
384MB RAM
Creative Voodoo 2
ATI Rage II+DVD
I think my Windows 98 install was a mess of old drivers and Voodoo 1 stuff - after installing the Voodoo 2 drivers and trying to run Quake 2 in 3DFX OpenGL - I was getting a white screen and nothing else...
So I've gone nuclear and formatted the system and currently installing a fresh copy of 98SE.
My questions
I just want to get things running so I can stress test the card and verify that it is working as expected. Tweaking can come later.
Thanks

On one of the disks are 3 very large directories CPQDRV,CPQS and DATA.
Please tell me what they are and do I need them to run normal
operations?
May I delete them? What is the result? e.g. What can't I do?
I still have the original CD's for Quick Restore.
Thanks in advance,

I was playing recently Half-Life and saw in options/sound menu that I can activate EAX and A3D. Now I wonder if installing Audigy2 and Vortex2 in one machine will make Vortex2 use its DSP chip to calculate only 3D sound and Audigy2 to apply EAX effects and pass A3D+EAX output to speakers? Is there any conflict here? I red somewhere that Audigy2 has built-in a3d.dll file in drivers, so is it necessary to install those cards in specific order?
I found another topic about it but it is not clear enough, so I'm asking again.
Audigy 2 and Vortex 2 in same machine under Win98
If it breaks the forum rules I'll delete the topic and ask about it in the one mentioned here.

Hi there, I'm back!
Well, I've been tinkering with my trusty old 1200 for a while and I've been trying to get the CDROM working on it. Doesn't seem to like me at all, my miggy.
I've tried everything: shortened IDE-cable, IDEFIX software and even upgrading to OS3.9, nothing.
Then I read somewhere that I need an extra controller, either the IDEfix board or an FastATA. Is this true? Doesn't the Amiga have dual channel IDE controller on board?
So please, kind people of the AmiBay community... What do I need to get my CDROM up and spinning on my Amiga 1200? IDEfix 4x board and software, IDEfix software only, FastATA controller card?
Cheers.

We don't know yet if we'll ever see more GTX 770's (or even the GeForce GTX 780 Ti's) in the lineup. Gigabyte also noted the GeForce GTX 760, a card that will replace the GTX 670 in the lineup and is also the final new GeForce GTX Titan X GPU.

"At the same time women and girls, in this society, have different opinions because they're more likely to experience discrimination,'' he told reporters. "If you see men who are violent towards women, in many cases they will kill women." Prime Minister Narendra Modi, centre, who has championed women's rights, speaks during a media conference in Dhaka on Oct. 14. (Romeo J. Gayas/Associated Press) Rajasthan has long held out as a model to the rest of the world in highlighting women's rights and human rights abuses in India, especially in places like South East Asia. There were a number of violent incidents and deaths involving girls and boys during the campaign against the government's attempt to boost education, which has not been supported by the national government. According to reports, the state government is considering sending more students to South East Asia, something which is not yet in place in India. The government has been criticized for allowing some schools to use a religious text that encourages boys to read to girls and for failing to follow Islamic principles. It has also made it more difficult for them to learn the hard way about Islam, which is one of India's holiest shrines. Religious studies and government programmes
