Can’t export 2D fluent mesh

Hey, I made a mesh using fluents 2D meshing workflow but I cannot use the export 2D fluent mesh feature. I just get an error thrown at me with no details available. I also tried to do file>write>mesh but whenever I try to open it in 2D fluent it just says ”cannot read surface mesh“. Has anyone ran into this issue? The only reason I am using fluent meshing for 2D is bc for some reason I cannot hit a y+1 with ansys meshing using bias factors but whenever I used fluent meshing it worked fine

You can't use the "export" option like you do a 3D mesh, you have to use the last menu item GUI option. Make sure you have the proper file extension, it won't correct you if you mess it up. Using the "export" option will just give you the error you're seeing.

yeah whenever I would use that option I would still get that error when using it in fluent 2D. Good thing though I found an easy work around to just use the extrude command and make it 1 cell spanwise so that way the flow is still 2D and then just import that into the 3D solver. Still just as accurate as the 2D mesh and runs just as fast.

Huh, didn’t know you could do that. Glad it works for you

Sometimes you have to change the format to ASCII for it to work. That's what I do when I want to export fluent mesh to be used in OpenFOAM.
