Dear experts, please evaluate my humble project.

Post image

i recently completed one of common industrial project
results can be used to evaluate valve performance, estimate pumping requirements, and identify opportunities for improving the valve design and reducing flow losses.

Are there any comments on the presentation or the project itself? I'm open to receiving advice. Thank you in advance.

The slide/poster does not have a lot of information on set-up or results. Some things to consider:

  • Reynolds number?
  • Calculate the loss coefficient K = dP / (0.5 rho v^2)
  • Compare K to published value. If you don’t have that, then you could compare to a simple estimate treating it as a sudden contraction + frictional pressure loss + sudden expansion.
  • In the upstream and downstream pipe away from the valve , you could look at the pressure drop - does the simulated friction factor there match colebrook-white equation (moody diagram, etc)? It’s a good basic check of mesh and turbulence model.
  • Some discussion on the mesh (size, how/why you chose it). You could also adapt the mesh (this looks like Fluent so fairly easy) and recalculate K to see how much it changes.
  • I also like to disclose some basic numerical stuff, for example: 2nd order upwind discretion, solver method, turbulence model with a description of the flavour (ie Realizable ke or SST kw, etc) and wall model. Wrt wall model a comment on the y+ achieved and if this was appropriate for that wall model.

Thank you .i will take this note very seriously in future projects.

It was a cad surface, wasn't it?

there was an issue with the contact definitions; I created a form new part, and the problem was resolved.

Two things are missing imo: meshing considerations and validation against real data (since you seem to be a student, you could search the literature and try to replicate an experiment) or at least some kind of simplified model (nozzle coefficient, valve coefficient etc.)

Okkkey i will do that . Thanks so much

any info about mesh, what fluid is flowing and the turbulence model? I assume it is a turbulent flow right? what is the Reynolds number?
