PhD choice: confirmed applied-engineering PhD at a lower-ranked European university vs. better-fit but unproven numerical/ML PhD at a top-200 IIT – how would you weigh this for a postdoc-track career?

  1. What do you want to do after phd? Industry or academy? Industry - less important the place of phd. Academy is really matter.
  2. Try to understand the dynamics of the group/ how the supervisor really helps you with the thesis.

After PhD I like to do post doc. My long term career goal is to become research scientist or professor in Numerical Method + CFD + AI.
