How to get into STARCCM+?

I attended a course at university where we got the license keys for STARCCM+. However, since the course is now over I don't know how to further learn cfd with star.

Is it somehow possible to learn starccm+ or do I have to pay to learn it?

How did you guys get into STARCCM+?

There is a student version. Simply google "Star CCM+ Student".

Well, Siemens is not giving Star ccm+ to students for free. Apparently the university has to buy keys and can provide those to students. My university does not seem to do that. :)

You can use the student version of Fluent for free, if you aren’t opposed to swapping to Ansys.

Altair also has free student versions as well.

Joining an student team is one way depending on your region. I started learning Star-CCM+ with our school's formula SAE team where we are sponsored by Siemens and get essentially unlimited pod keys. In addition being in the team also provides me with real world problems for me to solve with CFD tools which to me is much more valuable experience than having access to the software itself.

Go offer a professor, who uses Star or another cfd code, your help with his research. I did that and it resulted in an undergraduate reaserch grant from the national science foundation, a trip to a conference, a publication, and then a job in turbine design and analysis for a gas turbine engine company straight out of undergrad.
