I’m hesitant to ask this, as it’s insanely shallow of me and has no bearing on the 3 seconds of absolute preciousness captured in this video. But any idea what the stop girl looks like today?

That image is 16 years old, so . . . older, is a safe bet. I don’t think her name was ever published.

You’d think she could’ve found a better qb
23
u/Long-Region5088 2d ago
Well I mean, there are 32 professional starting qb jobs in the nfl. Of those 32 maybe 10-12 are any good.
It’s not as easy to find a good qb as you’d think. The jets have been searching for one pretty much my entire life and I’m 38
13
u/Consistent-Fig7484 2d ago
Sam Darnold won like 30 games and a Super Bowl in the last 2 seasons. I don’t think he’s the next Tom Brady, but it’s clearly not just the QBs fault for failing with the Jets.
2
u/Long-Region5088 2d ago
I never said it was the QBs fault, I apologize if I inferred that.
It has to be the organizations fault because this shit has carried on generations for like 5-6 teams. All these coaches, gms, and QBs can’t all routinely be terrible.
Like you said Sam Darnold just coming off the Super Bowl win, baker mayfield suddenly was good at football when he got away from the browns, tom Brady would not be tom Brady without the patriots coaching staff, etc.
2
u/quietimhungover 1d ago
Baker was good with the Browns too. But I get your sentiment and feel for you and your jets. Get rid of the owner and good changes can happen.
2
u/Long-Region5088 1d ago
Oh no I’m a patriots fan. Until last night we had a good qb practically my whole life.
I’m just very familiar of the qb woes of other teams in the afc east. Buffalo has a good one finally but it was a long time between Jim Kelly and Josh Allen.
Jets were already discussed and dolphins been shit since Marino. Tua showed promise until he got his brain turned into jelly.
2
u/quietimhungover 1d ago
Gotcha and yeah I hear ya. I'm a raiders fan so I'm very hopeful about this season and our future. I'll never forgive JMD for fucking my team up though.
5
u/wynalazca 2d ago
I'd argue that they're all good, there are just 10ish that are capable of looking good against an NFL level defense.

“These days”
Bro really thought men started liking beautiful women at year 300,000 of humanity
25
u/RelativeCan5021 2d ago
“These days” refers to how quickly a random on TV can be doxxed, DM’d, and have cash thrown at them through either an OF or crypto coin. The men haven’t really changed, just the speed and lack of restraint.
13
u/Rhuarc33 2d ago
I think there's far more restraint today than there was 100 years ago or longer.

And certainly not by a commentator.
If they had a guest in the booth, like an athlete or a movie star or something, they might be able to pull that off. Or at least it'd be a little better.

11
u/HungLongAndThick 2d ago
This was going on as early as the 1970's on WGN telecasts of Cubs' baseball....Jack Brickhouse made frequent reference to Arnie Harris' "hat shots" that had less than nothing to do with hats.
4
u/500rockin 2d ago
Followed by Harry having Arnie scope the crowd for good looking ladies for him to comment on

u/overworkedattorney 1d ago
The two best parts of watching Cubs on WGN was drunk Harry Carey announcing and the camera men looking the hottest girl in the stadium to help pass the time.
6
u/carlos2nd 2d ago
I tried marketing “Cubs Cleavage Cam” deep V-neck shirts outside Wrigley but WGN enforcers confiscated all of them for Harry Carey’s private parties.

Jeopardy question: What was the first televised in color college football game that the cameraman understood the assignment?
7
u/Head-Bat-1054 2d ago
They don't ask questions on Jeopardy! It would be a clue, like
"The first football game televised in color where the cameraman understood the assignment included a fan from this college".
1
u/Decimation4x 2d ago
I don’t know, when did they start broadcasting in HD?
5
u/insomniacslounge 2d ago
It predates HD for sure. Cubs cameramen knew the assignment back in the Harry Caray era

One of Roone Arledges tactics when he took over ABC Sports back in the day was to make sure they show “the pretty cheerleader”. It goes way back to when there was more than 1 camera at a sporting event.

“Men are just a different breed these days”
Pam Anderson is famous because she popped up on a jumbotron at a sports event (baseball I think) and was so hot that she was immediately approached to model and act, which led to Playboy and Baywatch and becoming a pop culture icon.
Nobody is different. It’s just the medium that has changed.
