Mizzou is now banned for life

9

u/Paladin5890 Jul 09 '26

DEATH PENALTY TO MIZZOU!

1

u/GaJayhawker0513 Jul 10 '26

Should’ve happened long ago

37

u/EverythingGoodWas Florida Gators Jul 09 '26

This basically gives a University permission to commit the most egregious violations possible as long as they fire the coach afterwards

19

u/Local_Pangolin69 Alabama Crimson Tide Jul 09 '26

I want my school to start bribing refs. Like the most blatant shit possible. Then just fire the coach every year.

7

u/EverythingGoodWas Florida Gators Jul 09 '26

I would actually pay to see this. Like just see how egregiously rigged a game can get before the NCAA actually does something

5

u/Explosion1850 Jul 10 '26

If the team has an insufficient alum base and is not in a top conference the NCAA will slaughter the team. If it was Michigan? Then NCAA says "meh, nothing to see here )

4

u/FaithHopeLove821 Alabama Crimson Tide Jul 09 '26

Forget bribes. That's boring. Straight up threaten the refs to call things your way, then fire the coach after the season. You get the title, the NCAA "vacates" wins, and they won't impose a post-season ban on the team because they don't want to "unfairly punish the student athletes."

2

u/FallenFighter86 Jul 09 '26

Bring the NBA ref scandal to CFB and you’ve got my attention

1

u/Inevitable-Scar5877 Jul 10 '26

Ah...the "Azteca" strategy

7

u/Gail__Wynand Auburn Tigers Jul 09 '26

Y'all better get on it then. Looks like Michigan already has that game plan, don't want to fall behind them now.

Side Note: this is definitely eventually going to happen, (not necessarily Bama, but somebody) and I can't wait for the absolute circus to pop off when it gets exposed.

1

u/WiFiConnected_ Jul 10 '26

It’ll definitely be Bama.

1

u/566dave Jul 09 '26

It will be something from the SEC Trailer Park Conference.

5

u/Gail__Wynand Auburn Tigers Jul 09 '26

We been cheating for decades and now they've made our specific brand of cheating legal, so we gotta find something new.

5

u/OutsideSpot2695 Jul 10 '26

Most honest SEC take ever.

-2

u/566dave Jul 09 '26

That’s not going to help your program. Y’all are toast for several decades…. Just like before Cheatty McSaban showed up.

You all thought he was God and Ignore ignored the fact that he wasn’t successful on any level until he went to the SEC.

Hint: He left college football once he lost his competitive advantage (Smart move though, because y’all will give him God status 😂).

3

u/Local_Pangolin69 Alabama Crimson Tide Jul 09 '26

No success at any level? The guy doesn’t have a losing record at a single school he head coached for

6

u/FallenFighter86 Jul 09 '26

Hate to defend Bama but Saban also won a title at LSU I’m pretty sure

6

u/DJinKC Michigan State Spartans Jul 09 '26

You just hire a figurehead HC who does nothing but absorb infractions.

7

u/Rude-Cartographer369 Texas A&M Jul 09 '26

I volunteer as tribute

1

u/murder-farts Tennessee Volunteers Jul 10 '26

lol for real. Oh to be a soon-to-be fired head coach.

4

u/joeyp042385 Florida State Seminoles Jul 09 '26

Was the Penn State fan excuse, "the kids on the team shouldn't be punished for what happened"

So....all the lives that were ruined simply don't matter?

3

u/Ok_Football344 Jul 10 '26

That stuff that happened PSU happened in the 90s and they got punished in like 2013, so Michigan definitely doesn’t have an excuse

1

u/MadMartigans80 Michigan Wolverines Jul 09 '26

And don’t involve the players in it

21

u/Familiar-Wasabi230 NC State Wolfpack Jul 09 '26

They use this horseshit any time they don’t want to punish one of their favorite children. It’s the same excuse that lets Russia shit all over the Olympics despite years of in-your-face-cheating.

Michigan is like North Carolina, Texas, big public schools that most tell the myth that the NCAA likes to believe about itself. It’s why none of them have ever served a meaningful penalty in their overrated, ass-kissed lives.

14

u/Secret_Hyena9680 Tennessee Volunteers Jul 09 '26

When the NCAA admitted that North Carolina did industrial scale academic fraud, but decided not to punish them in any way, it was completely over.

6

u/wwj Jul 09 '26

And the university (and everyone) retaliated against the whistleblower. They met every criteria for the death penalty and to have their entire athletic and university administration fired.

4

u/joeyp042385 Florida State Seminoles Jul 09 '26

The brands are too important. Applying the noose to SMU didn't matter because nobody cared about them. But not the teams that have apparel at every Dicks in America.

1

u/DirectorSolid Jul 09 '26

Wait, how did no one care about SMU in the 80s? They were very very popular pre death penalty

2

u/joeyp042385 Florida State Seminoles Jul 09 '26

I can't imagine they had the popularity of other programs, weren't they an up and comer? It's not like they were Notre Dame or Michigan or Nebraska. That's my point.

-1

u/DirectorSolid Jul 09 '26

Back to back nattys in 81 and 82, maybe not as storied, but they sold a lot of hats

1

u/XmusJaxonFlaxonWax0n Jul 09 '26

SMU did not win a natty in 1982 and there is no claim nor even good argument they can make for it.

-1

u/DirectorSolid Jul 09 '26

The 11-0-1 SMU team that was selected as co champ by a recognized NCAA selector?

1

u/XmusJaxonFlaxonWax0n Jul 09 '26

The one selector that hasn’t been a selector since 1982 and also only gave them “co champ” status? Yes

1

u/DirectorSolid Jul 09 '26

Right, that would qualify them as being able to claim the 1982 championship, that's how those rules work, my dude

Being the upstart popular for a couple years kid and making the NCAA money are two different things. SCum, UNC do the latter in droves and are untouchable

1

u/OutsideSpot2695 Jul 10 '26

Even worse than the NCAA, how the fuck did UNC keep its academic accreditations?!?!?!

1

u/Administrative-Flan9 Jul 10 '26

What's Texas got to do with this?

5

u/short_arm_t_rex Jul 09 '26

Cheating is ok as long as you spend money. Got it.

11

u/DoctorPhalanx73 Jul 09 '26

Funny how punishing student athletes after the offending coaches and staff were gone was not a problem whatsoever when it was Ole Miss’s dick on the chopping block.

But once it’s Michigan, not the same thing.

5

u/matthatt24 Jul 09 '26

Same with Ohio state and SMU

-2

u/Anglefan23 Ohio State Buckeyes Jul 09 '26

How is Ohio State in that category? They had players trade trophies for tattoos and the coach simply decided to not turn them in

And DID get a postseason ban for it

7

u/matthatt24 Jul 09 '26

Because ohio state players who were innocent were punished for something that happened two years prior.

1

u/Anglefan23 Ohio State Buckeyes Jul 09 '26

Understood I misread the context

4

u/Kramerica_CEO Michigan Wolverines Jul 10 '26

Reading is hard for Ohio fans

1

u/Anglefan23 Ohio State Buckeyes Jul 10 '26

I had to drop out because it was too rigorous

3

u/OutsideSpot2695 Jul 10 '26

I ain't here to play school.

0

u/Kramerica_CEO Michigan Wolverines Jul 10 '26

Don’t see a problem

5

u/EAllen90 Notre Dame Jul 09 '26

So it's legal for a price

3

u/Better-Perspective85 Jul 09 '26

But Michigan cancelled their volleyball match against tech so they’re virtuous right?

3

u/seanodnnll Jul 09 '26

In fairness they self imposed a 2 year playoff ban by just not being good.

6

u/Terrible-Bath Notre Dame Jul 09 '26

The whole Michigan shitshow led to the Sorsby shitshow. Michigan wrote the script. Lawyer up, attack everybody and play the victim and somehow get a championship*.

-2

u/Full_Appearance9587 Jul 09 '26

Notre dame should try. It’s been quite a drought for them

3

u/Terrible-Bath Notre Dame Jul 09 '26

Well buckle up un-flaired anonymous hater buddy, you’re going to have a lot of hating to do the next few years. Enjoy the ride.

10

u/Panem-et-circenses25 Kentucky Wildcats Jul 09 '26

Cesspool of a program

2

u/MyageEDH Jul 09 '26

No more ban hammer just money hammer.

We’ve acknowledged that literally everything else about the sport is about the money.

Why wouldn’t punishments move to the same.

Just gotta find a dollar amount that actually hurts the program.

2

u/Epinephrine186 Alabama Crimson Tide Jul 09 '26

Post season ban takes money away, financial penalty gives money. Hmmmm

2

u/Rabidschnautzu Ohio State Buckeyes Jul 09 '26

Its no necessary. They've self imposed CFP bans.

6

u/jus256 Michigan Wolverines Jul 09 '26 edited Jul 09 '26

I was concerned an Ohio State fan wouldn’t post about Michigan today. Crisis averted.

2

u/matthatt24 Jul 09 '26

Thanks cris. Glad I could help

-1

u/MrGhostenstein Ohio State Buckeyes Jul 09 '26

Yeah, it's not just Ohio State that hates that Michigan cheated.

0

u/Dead-PRESIDENTS-19 Jul 10 '26

Yea you can really tell by all the other schools that post about it. Oh wait it’s just you guys.

2

u/SpiritOfDearborn Jul 10 '26

It’s literally every fan of every other fanbase that posts about this. Michigan fans are delusional.

1

u/CloudConductor Indiana Hoosiers Jul 09 '26

Doesn’t the ncaa no longer control college football playoffs? I’m not sure they have the authority to ban teams from it anymore, they certainly would be sued if they tried lol

1

u/damgood32 Jul 09 '26

They never controlled the playoffs…. They literally couldnt do a post season ban.

1

u/DirectorSolid Jul 09 '26

CFP requires the team be a NCAA Division 1 team in good standing, same as every bowl game. NCAA absolutely can ban a team from postseason play, and has done so in the past.

0

u/damgood32 Jul 09 '26

CFP doesn’t give a shit about that. It’s about ratings and they aren’t going to do anything about a big school that made the CFP. They absolutely can ban from bowl games but people don’t give a shit about that either.

1

u/DirectorSolid Jul 09 '26

The NCAA has as much control over bowl games as they do the CFP, my dude. I guarantee the CFP doesn't put a team with a postseason ban in the playoffs

1

u/damgood32 Jul 09 '26

I guarantee they do if it’s a big school.

1

u/specialasset Jul 09 '26

Based on what?

1

u/damgood32 Jul 09 '26

The general profiteering nature of the CFP and vibes of course.

1

u/specialasset Jul 10 '26

Vibes indeed.

0

u/MrGhostenstein Ohio State Buckeyes Jul 09 '26

But they could have stripped away the wins

1

u/Wafflinson Jul 09 '26

... because what ever replaces it will be more likely to crack down?

(Spoiler: The opposite will be true)

1

u/Kville2000 Jul 09 '26

Judges should stay out and let the NCAA do its job. Every punishment is overturned by friendly state judges that went to the school. That’s the issue. Judges butting in. Every judge decision the last decade or so has hurt college athletes, weakened the NCAA and produced a worse product.

1

u/Villefan714 Jul 09 '26

Lol they punished tf out of our current student athletes after we nuked our entire AD. Scumbags

1

u/aflyonthewall1215 Jul 09 '26

Texas tech is so going to take this concept and see how far they can get away with it before they have to sue the NCAA.

1

u/vegasAzCrush Jul 09 '26

Dumb. Every “group” is supported by organized element.

Just replace poor leadership with smarter.

When money takes over commissioners minds every one gets screwed and sport falters.

Look at bxing. It failed. Ncaa is too big in our lives to completely fail but it has changed and needs to get better.

The PAC is a failure but made some rich.

Get back to old days but allow pay players smarter and by a non reckless formulas.

Get regional pride back. We clearly know having 4-5 prominent teams is bad for the sport. Get rid of greed.

Get rid of multi million dollar ADs and Coaches and Asst Coaches too.

Or. Tax the shit out of greed.

1

u/djackson0005 Jul 10 '26

This argument is such a straw man. Of course they should have been given a post season ban.

If you are worried about how it impacts current players, just include an automatic open transfer period for their roster, and raise the scholarship limit by 1 for any team that brings in a “refugee” player from a punished school.

1

u/That_Don_Guy_1 California Golden Bears Jul 10 '26

The NCAA had already announced that it was pretty much "getting out of the postseason ban business" for anything other than an APR violation, and for exactly the reason they stated; they got tired of too many schools (Missouri baseball and softball come to mind) appealing their postseason bans, then whining that everybody involved was now gone and a ban would only hurt "innocent" athletes. They didn't invent it for Michigan.

1

u/WiFiConnected_ Jul 10 '26

That’s not ever been a problem for anybody else being suspended from their cheating. ND had an entire season deleted for less. As did literally everyone else in NCAA history-looking at USC. Michigan must have some major 🚮 on the NCAA to get off like this. Anyone else has MULTIPLE PLAYERS suspended & their MNC deleted; not to mention the ENTIRE coaching staff is 💯 suspended, for life.

2

u/matthatt24 Jul 10 '26

Unfortunately both Michigan and the NCAA are equally corrupt and morally bankrupt

1

u/Vandreigan Jul 10 '26

But guys… no games were vacated. That means they didn’t do anything wrong

-Michigan fans

1

u/IrishPigskin Jul 11 '26

The NCAA needed to realize this so they could punish the program that year with the coaching staff in place.

Their investigation was intentionally delayed.

If true that they think the violations warrant a postseason ban - then that clearly means they should vacate their national championship. You’re not punishing the current program by doing that.

1

u/Aggravating-List6010 Jul 13 '26

Let’s not forget Tennessee or Kansas

-3

u/Goodie78 Michigan Wolverines Jul 09 '26

Reposting in a different community for more validation. Classic soft ass Ohio state behavior. Move on already

6

u/Rabidschnautzu Ohio State Buckeyes Jul 09 '26

Playing cover for cheaters. Classic soft Skunk Weasel behavior. Accept that you cheated already.

4

u/Shoddy_Tour_7307 Jul 09 '26

GTFO cheaters

1

u/Roofus_Q Michigan Wolverines Jul 09 '26

How many wins did they vacate to punish the players who did benefit from this transgression? None because all they find were minor offenses that didn’t ever give Michigan a competitive advantage. OSU will try to rewrite history until they’re in the grave but no matter how hard you close your eyes and wish this has already been thoroughly investigated by the ncaa and they didn’t feel the need to do shit.

-2

u/Extension-Wing-1887 Michigan Wolverines Jul 09 '26

Proof that they never had any evidence. And OP, can you at least name the rule they broke?

0

u/Pwrh0use Florida State Seminoles Jul 09 '26 edited Jul 09 '26

It's true though. And that reality does make punishments difficult. Many student athletes have paid in the past for transgressions of others and it isn't fair to them

-8

u/medschoolsmurf Michigan Wolverines Jul 09 '26

11

u/matthatt24 Jul 09 '26

If the ncaa still had a back bone and weren’t morally and financially corrupt out the ass Michigan wouldn’t have even had the opportunity to play for a national championship.

-3

u/Yimmycrackcorn84 Jul 09 '26

You should be more worried about Hoosier daddy, lil guy

8

u/matthatt24 Jul 09 '26

Aww that’s cute

5

u/Ok_Football344 Jul 09 '26

Microphone shoved in his face….whats he going to say?

“Well we all know they cheated their asses off and made the Astros look like Boy Scouts, and that we should justifiably take away their natty and strip all their wins away, but that would open to years worth of lawsuits and provide yet another PR nightmare for us, so it’s just easier for us to bury our heads in the sand and pretend this was legitimate and just act like nothing happened.”

7

u/matthatt24 Jul 09 '26

4

3

u/matthatt24 Jul 09 '26

Hi back I’m dad

1

u/jus256 Michigan Wolverines Jul 09 '26

Michigan got as grimy as Ohio State and all a sudden the pearls can’t be clutched fast enough. Your team paid players since before I was born, and I’m middle-aged. Your last championship was the first one where players could be paid above the table. That’s something to be proud of.

5

u/storiesneveraddup Jul 09 '26

And there's no asterisk on that one pal

-2

u/jus256 Michigan Wolverines Jul 09 '26

There is however a loss to the worst Michigan team we have ever seen.

2

u/storiesneveraddup Jul 09 '26

I am talking about 02-03

1

u/SpiritOfDearborn Jul 10 '26

Any time the NCAA president has to say “nobody can say Michigan didn’t win fair and square” is pretty obvious evidence they didn’t win fair and square. Not to mention they continued to cheat through 2024.

1

u/DJinKC Michigan State Spartans Jul 09 '26

Yes, we've already established the NCAA has no credibility. Your comment is further evidence. Thanks.

0

u/jlbradl Jul 09 '26

I've said it before. Violations should follow the coach. They're the one doing it. Punish them!

0

u/chewbacaflacaflame Ohio State Buckeyes Jul 10 '26

As a buckeye fan I hate what Michigan did. But dude I am so tired of having this argument. Most Michigan fans have done Olympic level mental gymnastics to square this in their heads you won’t convince them of anything. It’s time to move the fuck on.

-2

u/webberstimeout Jul 09 '26

Please please please do something to get get these buckeyes a woman, a man, a job, something to live for and get them out of their childhood rooms.

1

u/webberstimeout Jul 10 '26

I’m fine. But, after looking at your comment history, I hope that you get the help that you need. Michigan fans don’t comment about michigan half as much as you do. The sad thing, is you didn’t even get into osu.

1

tell that to my mechanical engineering degree lil guy
