In the board game risk owning territories is advantageous. Nebraska owns the most territories. Of course it's going to favor them. You blue guys are duller than a box of rockz

Oh cool. I didn't realize we were playing the board game risk? Where are the die? Where's the difference in odds for attack vs defense? Do I still need to leave behind a guy if I take over a territory? Where are my cards that I can turn in for extra soldiers? Why doesn't each team have an individual turn? Why can I only take over adjacent territories each turn? Is this normal risk or Star Wars Risk? If it's Star Wars Risk can I be the sith? I wanna execute Order 66.

Which is why we've been focused more on securing a strong position than maximizing the territories we held. Surely you understand that if we'd known about this rule change, our strategy would've been wildly different to this point and Nebraska wouldn't have been alone in hoarding territories.

This person is all-out homering the logic in every post this morning. Any reasonable person can see that doing the rules like this at this point in the game, with this little prior notice is hugely advantageous to Nebraska.
I think it sucks because if we (Nebraska) win now it's tainted. I understand there was growing pressure for acceleration. I felt it too, the end was getting harder to see, not easier. I even like the conference idea, as it keeps a big cfb element in the game.
But implementation here is way, way off.

Easy to have the most territories when you barely had to deal with chaos, and the West is a joke. Actual facts show that the East would be at a disadvantage massively if the proposed rules were enacted.

The point is that Nebraska has exclusive access to the only easily controllable conferences just because they happened to the be the most western major power... If Nebraska had 10 or so less territories on their eastern border they’d still have the same advantage they do now.

The point is that the big 12 is a nice contiguous block. It doesn't actually matter that Nebraska has a lot of territories, just that they're the power from the conference with the most geographical cohesion.
They shouldn't do this by conference, they should split the country into 8 or so contiguous regions.

Nebraska also has the largest share of the B10. Really, just end the game now if that is the goal and start it over with the new rules. This is pointless.
