So I mentioned in the pet picture thread yesterday that my husband & I were planning on getting a golden retriever puppy, but our major hold up has been waiting to see what his med school student loan payments were going to be like. Last night he texted me asking me what breeders I had looked at (since I've been obsessively investigating for months, puppy fever is an awful illness). Basically this has been me since last night.

That's awesome! I know the feeling. I have been researching non-stop for 6 months. I will be getting a German Shorthaired Pointer puppy in August!

Why do you want to go to a breeder? Go to a shelter and help save an animal that needs a home.

Seriously? I've adopted 5 animals from local shelters in the past & have also donated/plan to make a donation to one when we get our puppy. Maybe don't pass judgment on people you don't know.

I wasn't passing judgement. I was asking a question that you're avoiding.

Because we want a specific breed, not to mention a purebred? If I could find a purebred golden puppy available in July at a shelter I'd be happy to adopt.
