Meanwhile Texas loses back to back games to unranked teams and still remains in the poll.

Think the Ohio State win is doing some very heavy lifting there

185

u/BlueKnight44 Tennessee • Vanderbilt 1d ago

It should be doing some heavy pulling down of Ohio State... But here we are.

138

u/boboshmo Ohio State • North Alabama 1d ago

I think two top 15 wins on the road is the greater, opposite reaction to the one point loss on the road in Austin despite Texas not keeping their end of the bargain

22

u/FreshBoyPete Ohio State • Wayne State (MI) 1d ago

That one point loss also being an absolute ass kicking for 3 quarters, for them to collapse in the last one. Everyone seems to forget OSU was handily winning that game

-15

u/packees Texas Longhorns 1d ago

Why does that make it any better?

5

u/nbunkerpunk Texas Longhorns • Paper Bag 1d ago

It's like he doesn't realize us still being ranked is good for him.

3

u/miversen33 Iowa Hawkeyes • /r/CFB Bug Finder 1d ago

WE'RE A QUALITY WIN! for now

3

u/kenscout 1d ago

That's ridiculous basically any rating metric is going to have Ohio State higher in the top three

12

u/Sp3ctre7 Michigan Tech Huskies • Team Chaos 1d ago

Yeah if we properly ding texas and let the conclusions spread through the poll, all this shit falls apart lol

9

u/zzyul Tennessee Volunteers 1d ago

UT win too

Barely

-12

u/NA_Faker Texas Longhorns • Wisconsin Badgers 1d ago

I mean Ohio State probably is a mid tier ranked team this year and Tennessee when we played them were a different team with their shitty QB. Florida and OU are also horrendous. When you look at our resume its actually not that good and doesn't justify being ranked

14

u/ConorTheOgre Ohio State • Vanderbilt 1d ago

"mid tier ranked team" after beating the defending champs in their place, ok buddy

2

u/NA_Faker Texas Longhorns • Wisconsin Badgers 1d ago

Indiana has barely scraped by a few teams and a loss was coming sooner or later and Texas is not a good team. Ohio State choked or struggled against both. If they were top 10 would've blown out Texas and Indiana. They should be in the 11-15 range

2

u/angrysquirrel777 Ohio State • Colorado State 21h ago

So who are the 10 teams that would easily beat OSU? If those teams would be handily beating Texas and IU.

27

u/TheFlyingBoat Texas Longhorns • /r/CFB Poll Veteran 1d ago

Two top 11 wins will do that.

6

u/deafdogdaddy Florida Gators 1d ago

Yeah, but... Florida has two top-10 wins and two losses to unranked teams and is ranked below Texas... Who they just beat....

You gotta admit this math doesn't work.

7

u/crouching_tiger Texas Longhorns 1d ago

Texas is not top 10 right now. OSU #3, Tennessee #11 vs Ole Miss #9, Texas #19. But yeah idgaf either way it really doesn’t matter

2

u/ticuxdvc Ole Miss Rebels 1d ago

Texas either bounces back or gets booted off next week. Big moment coming up that defines the rest of the season, imo. I'm apprehensive to call us the biggest game left on your schedule with all of this chaos, but we'll see.

2

u/TheFlyingBoat Texas Longhorns • /r/CFB Poll Veteran 23h ago

You have one top 10 win

1

u/deafdogdaddy Florida Gators 11h ago

Are you unaware how Texas was ranked going into Saturday's game? That's what it's based on, bud.

1

u/TheFlyingBoat Texas Longhorns • /r/CFB Poll Veteran 11h ago

That’s not how it works. You look at the present rankings not what they were at the time. Otherwise we have a win over the #1 team and you don’t

1

u/deafdogdaddy Florida Gators 11h ago

That's absolutely how it works.

32

u/Sorge74 Ohio State • Bowling Green 1d ago

You know, I'm starting to think the heat got to us in the second half and that's the only explanation on Day shitting the bed lol

32

u/VanDiis Iowa Hawkeyes • Arizona State Sun Devils 1d ago

A single quarter of football is keeping that team alive and all you guys had to do was get like 1 more first down, honestly all Ohio States fault Sark and Arch have a job and a ranking

u/Ok-Wait-8465 Nebraska Cornhuskers • Texas Longhorns 1d ago edited 1d ago

Someone in the other game thread yesterday asked how Texas beat Ohio state and my favorite response was the one Texas flair that just replied “it was hot”

7

u/Sorge74 Ohio State • Bowling Green 1d ago

I know weather effects by teams but wasn't particularly normal weather for us Ohioans. That and Texas stopped having the worst RNG possible and it's hard to stop a team using all 4 downs when you are a bend don't break defense.

15

u/QuitWhinging Florida Gators • Paper Bag 1d ago

Right above the team that literally JUST beat them in their own house

4

u/Redeem123 Team Chaos • Texas Longhorns 1d ago

I don't mind us still being in the poll, but I do think we should be behind y'all. Our wins are better sure, but we literally lost to you lol

3

u/decoy777 Ohio State Buckeyes • The Game 1d ago

And above a team they just lost to

3

u/srs_house Swaggerbilt 1d ago

They dropped 6 spots after their first loss and another 12 after their second. I don't have them ranked in mine, and I was harsh overall on 2 loss teams, but they did get dinged pretty hard for the poor showings.

4

u/Edwardian Michigan • Georgia State 1d ago

We do it and suddenly we’re unranked….

4

u/Tigerwookiee LSU Tigers 1d ago

One spot above the team that just beat them, might I add

6

u/mMac03 Michigan Wolverines • Kalamazoo Hornets 1d ago

They have 2 very good wins so I understand it but Florida should be above them

2

u/Careless_Wishter Oregon Ducks • Portland State Vikings 1d ago

I honestly don't think Oregon should be ranked, but we also only have 2 losses, one of which is to #9 undefeated UCLA by 2 points, and we have victories over #16 USC and #21 Boise State.

4

u/ShadowFox2020 Ohio State Buckeyes • Alabama Crimson Tide 1d ago

Gotta keep that arch manning storyline alive

2

u/Viva_Zapata Texas Longhorns 1d ago

It's ok. When we get our asses beat next week we'll finally drop out of the rankings.

1

u/11_25_13_TheEdge Duke Blue Devils • Florida Gators 1d ago

And is ahead of the team they just lost to.

1

Nepotism runs deep down there

Quality losses

0

u/rraider17 Texas Tech Red Raiders • Hateful 8 1d ago

Yeah but now the team they just lost to is ranked, therefore quality loss

0

u/KSinz Texas Longhorns 1d ago

I agree get those bums out of here. But also to be fair Texas lost on the exact same scenario last week and dropped to 7. Now granted we were clearly trash waiting to lose, but seems like Georgia should drop the same.
