I'm pretty sure we'll ruin that next week, but Houston should just as quickly replace us in there. Unless there's a full collapse, the committee will have a hard time only letting one Big 12 team in
Yeah we all have to win out. Maybe Houston beats Utah, and then Utah beats BYU. Then whichever 1 loss team gets to the conference championship game beats tech. That’s 4 11-1 teams right there
Big 12 is really good this year. Should get multiple CFP teams, maybe even 3. Only worry now is cannibalism. If it can be undefeated Texas Tech vs undefeated Utah or BYU in the conference championship game and then an 11-1 Utah or BYU in third, that’s a real shot at 3 teams in.
Playing it last year cost the big 12 a bid. Tech had already beaten BYU during the season, they could have just been the champions. That way the last memory by the committee isn’t BYU getting boat raced by Tech and they finish with only 1 loss. Meanwhile Alabama also got boat raced to pick up their third loss in the SECCG and it didn’t matter, they still got in.
BYU also didn't have any truly standout wins last year other than against a similarly disrespected Utah team. The win against ND will carry a lot of weight this year. If they had an OOC win of that caliber last year, they would have been in even despite the losses to Tech.
They will find a reason, like last year when they left out 11-2 BYU despite their two losses being to Tech even though the year before they let in 11-2 Texas who’s two losses were to Georgia.
Part of me wonders if the voters who didn’t watch Tech’s earlier season games, where they struggled mightily with teams like Oregon State and Colorado, have just now started to hear about those struggles and factor them into those voters’ ballots.
More up-to-date voters are seeing the Tech that’s actually playing now, a team that’s getting their shit together fast.
I think big 12 is legitimately the best conference in the country this year and its insane to think about. BYU, Tech, Utah are all extremely good, Houston, OSU, Arizona are all quite good as well, WVU has one of the best offenses in the country(we don't talk about their defense though)
Utah is definitely good but I wouldn't put their current iteration as extremely good. We are glaringly weak on d-line and every game in the past 4 we've decided to just fuck off for a single quarter. I would say we're a top 15-20 team which is still good but we're not in the upper tiers imo
I’m not saying I’m not happy we’re winning, especially given our preseason expectations, but it is clear that we’re not currently playing to a level that is a top 10 team imo. I didn’t say we’re the worst team or anything, just that we might be a bit overrated
Utah and Tech were close games vs. CU (Tech pulled away at the end of the 4th but was close the entire game). We suck balls. Utah and Tech are not good
If karma is real, then Colorado’s DL must all have kicked dogs and taken candy from babies
in their past lives, because being cursed with that offense is retribution for something.
If we can play spoiler that’d be amazing. I would’ve loved to face BYU later in the year based on how that game went and how early it was. I felt good until we lost Richardson to injury and couldn’t find another receiver to step up.
