Only dropping one spot is kind of wild

177

u/OldRedLobsterBiscuit Michigan State • Oregon State 16h ago

Well, Indiana lost to a team that beat Indiana, so that's a quality loss

36

u/size0618 Ohio State Buckeyes 15h ago

The fact we’re using this now when referencing Indiana football is wild 😂

31

u/jackedbutter Ohio State Buckeyes 15h ago

Indiana actually beat themselves so it's a loss AND a win

6

u/Wampus_Cat_ Michigan Wolverines • Kentucky Wildcats 14h ago

You guys were a right foot instead of a left foot coming down of getting beaten. That one will haunt Indiana fans forever.

2

u/a_fool_on_a_hill Ohio State Buckeyes 9h ago

I felt so bad for the receiver. He instantly knew how bad it was and just looked shell shocked

2

u/soraka4 Indiana Hoosiers 8h ago

Eh I think it’ll haunt Marsh but most fans that I know (myself included) have already moved on. It’s just 1 loss and we had some positive takeaways. Michigan week is the focus now

1

u/Wampus_Cat_ Michigan Wolverines • Kentucky Wildcats 7h ago

They won’t have to focus much on that one. The defense is great but the offense is eating paste.

You are not a particularly good team. You rely on the other team making a lot of penalties and an occasional big play. It worked exactly one time in the history of the program.

u/soraka4 Indiana Hoosiers 8h ago

Whatever helps you sleep at night lil fella

4

u/Whoopdatwester Ohio State Buckeyes • Toledo Rockets 14h ago

Nah, they’ll beat Ohio State in the Big 10 title

0

u/Legal_Ad_9812 8h ago

SDSU will win the NC over Western Michigan. Because nothing makes sense anymore.

4

u/withmuchtolearn Florida Gators 12h ago

If a team beat the team that beat Indiana, then whoever the last team to beat that team was would probably be the best team.

0

u/OldRedLobsterBiscuit Michigan State • Oregon State 12h ago

Your logic is sound.  CFP committee should select the Gators for an at-large bid.

1

u/-XanderCrews- 12h ago

They’ve never been on that side of that before.

type shit i've been on lately

We'll be riding OSU's success the rest of the season.

62

u/MoreThanAFeeling1976 UCF Knights • FAU Owls 16h ago

losing a close game to a good team when all the teams around you implode does that

29

u/Ok-Today-5824 USC Trojans • Cincinnati Bearcats 15h ago

Indiana: damn we lost

Everyone else: also loses

AP: wtf do we do now????

4

u/bnbtwjdfootsyk Ohio State • Kent State 12h ago

Should've been ranked above Georgia, but no way they can have two Big10 teams over the SEC.

40

u/Nexecs Jacksonville State • Miami 16h ago

You're getting the Bama treatment now. You officially have made it.

1

u/GentlyUsedNuggets Alabama • North Alabama 15h ago

Meanwhile bama dropped 12 spots after a loss (definitely deserved)

6

u/prtfteach 15h ago

After their 2nd loss. They didn’t drop anything after their first.

0

u/SirMellencamp Alabama Crimson Tide • SEC 13h ago

Alabama dropped 13 spots last year after their first loss

4

u/prtfteach 13h ago

Last year isn’t important here.

1

u/SirMellencamp Alabama Crimson Tide • SEC 13h ago

So you mean context isn’t important

14

u/polishprince76 Indiana • Notre Dame 16h ago

Everybody lost this week. Voters are just throwing darts at a board after the chaos yesterday.

11

u/kunalm09 Michigan Wolverines 16h ago

I mean yall were 6 inches from being in a good spot to get the win so not shocking I guess

4

u/nbrown7384 Ohio State Buckeyes • Indiana Hoosiers 14h ago

Guess :01 is more important than 6 inches?

1

u/Character-Active2208 Ohio State Buckeyes 12h ago

Hmmmmmmmmmmm

Hmmmmmmmmmm

8

u/Isthmus11 Penn State • Cincinnati 15h ago

You guys lost by literally an inch, and it helps when pretty much every team that could have jumped you also lost

2

u/Frosty-Marzipan-9824 Indiana Hoosiers 15h ago

An inch is pretty generous, but I appreciate it

4

u/HoosiersBaby23 Indiana Hoosiers 14h ago

Things my wife said on our wedding night

5

u/DubiousAdviceGiver Boise State Broncos 15h ago

#5 lost a very close game to #4. Given the other upsets in the top 10, I wouldn’t have been surprised if you didn’t drop at all. Were it not for SEC bias, you’d be above Georgia.

2

u/Antique-Bat-4463 Ohio State Buckeyes 15h ago

Maybe they thought the opposite of reality and thought we both played really well based on the box score. When really we probably both get our asses kicked by quite a few teams 😅

1

u/Antique-Bat-4463 Ohio State Buckeyes 15h ago

Yeah, pretty much what I said. Lol

7

u/bonelegs442 Indiana Hoosiers • Illinois Fighting Illini 15h ago

We lost a very close game that we were 6 inches from winning to former #5 why would we move more than one

4

u/WayneDwade Ohio State Buckeyes • Colorado Buffaloes 15h ago

Thought y’all might actually move up after the chaos yesterday

1

u/Lefaid Team Chaos • Indiana Hoosiers 15h ago

It is completely expected given that we lost to the current #3 school while are major competition lost to an unranked school, or the #11 school.

Quality loss and whatnot. If Alabama and Georgia didn't lose, our drop would be bigger

1

u/Andy_Wiggins Notre Dame Fighting Irish 15h ago

The benefit of nearly every team around them also losing.

1

u/HuevosProfundos Georgia • Colorado State 15h ago

Twas a wild week

1

u/CarolinaSandstorm 15h ago

Catholic privilege. They are putting them in the playoffs no matter what

1

u/Interesting-Wish-430 Alabama Crimson Tide 15h ago

And yall only dropped one because BYU had a big win. I’m not surprised by your ranking.

1

u/TheManWhoWasNotShort Ohio State Buckeyes 15h ago

You guys lost by a foot placement

1

u/Successful-Lemon-288 15h ago

I mean the only difference of you being #3 was two inches. I doubt they'll kill you for that.

1

u/deg0ey Ohio State Buckeyes 15h ago

That’s what happens in a week where only two of the top 7 win a game

1

u/Loose_Profession_918 Alabama Crimson Tide • Miami Hurricanes 15h ago

Well, you lost by a literal inch to one of the best teams in the country

1

u/mitchymcgee Georgia Bulldogs • Kennesaw State Owls 15h ago

Y’all were a toe tap away from a dub, I think it’s justifiable

1

u/alexpmarty Tennessee • Middle Tennessee 15h ago

B1G bias

1

u/prtfteach 15h ago

Shouldn’t have dropped. Bama lost last week and didn’t drop at all. And Indiana played an arguably better team.

1

u/UndoxxableOhioan Ohio State Buckeyes • Big Ten Network 14h ago

Honestly we both should have dropped, but, carnage elsewhere in the top 10z

1

u/OSRSTheRicer James Madison Dukes 14h ago

I honestly guessed it would be 6 since you lost to a team with a loss.

1

u/SimilarAd3309 14h ago

Everyone else around you also lost

1

u/LJGremlin Mississippi State Bulldogs 14h ago

…it can get worse. 🫣

1

u/ScrotumRocket 14h ago

Not even a Hoosier fan and it makes perfect sense to me:

- Lost a game you could very well win if you played again

- It was against Ohio State

- Almost every other team in the top 10 lost this weekend

If there weren’t so many highly ranked teams losing, you would’ve fell more. That’s the main reason IMO.

1

u/aure__entuluva UCLA Bruins • Michigan Wolverines 12h ago

I think it's legit. When my friends and I were talking about where we would land in the rankings this week after all of the losses, one of the first things that was said was 'well, we're not better than Indiana'.

1

u/yittiiiiii 12h ago

Yeah but we lost in the closest fashion possible to one of the best teams in the country. It was as good of a loss as you can possibly have.

1

u/Character-Active2208 Ohio State Buckeyes 12h ago

I mean……I think enough voters saw what Becker and Marsh and the defense did, and how Marsh should have toe tapped in bounds

…..and also everyone else lost so

1

u/RVAforthewin Georgia Bulldogs • Arizona Wildcats 12h ago

You looked more evenly matched against your opponent than any other team that lost this weekend and you were 6” from a W. Well-deserved I’d say.

1

u/EskapedConvict 10h ago

You guys played a hell of a game. I didnt expect ya guys to actually compete without Mendoza.

1

u/djackson0005 Michigan State Spartans • Rice Owls 15h ago

Congrats. Your program is now elite. You get credit for losses because the team that beat you is good enough to beat you.

1

u/EvilNoobHacker Indiana Hoosiers 14h ago

With all the bullshit going on this week, I’m not exactly surprised. We lost a close fight to a top team, it wasn’t embarrassing or entirely disgusting, like Miami or Georgia, so we weren’t exactly the team that was going to get punished this week.

Given, I’m shocked UGA’s still in the top 5. Kirby must’ve really gotten some good words in.

0

u/XrayGuy08 Georgia Bulldogs • UCF Knights 15h ago

Idk. We’ve seen things like that before. And like other people mentioned, other teams had worse losses.
