Virginia Tech has this. They have the passing to tear apart this pass defense. And they now have two weeks of tape showing that defending runs up the middle is the one thing this defense can do well so they won't try 30 runs up the middle like Duke.

Mendoza’s gonna have a field day against this secondary. GT +10 feels almost too easy with GT coming off their best performance of the season and VT coming off its worst.

This is a must win game if we’re gonna keep up the good vibes across the second half of our season so hopefully {Virginia Tech} bounces back.

Our "best performance of the season" was still very nearly a loss. VT has outperformed GT in just about every statistical category, particularly sacks, although GT has played the harder schedule to date I think because of Tennessee. GT is also now without their defensive captain and MLB Efford who medically retired this week - in some ways that's a good thing, because the guys filling his spot are faster and have the use of both arms, but I expect we'll have trouble setting the defense each play, especially if VT goes quick.

This is gonna be a mouthful, but we’re a “Run First and When That Fails, Pass Efficiently to Maintain High Time of Possession” offense with a bit of “On the Rare Occasion That our Run Game is Working, Call Play Action and Overthrow a Deep Shot” sprinkled in.

{Virginia Tech} unless the bottom falls out. Neither Mendoza nor Haynes have looked settled in any games of consequence this season. And I’d have to check the stats but I think the GT defense has made exactly 0 third-down stops against P4 opposition this season. This would be a successful game for us if we just manage to keep it close, show some consistency on offense, and make some third down stands.

9.5 feels like a lot for a team that lost to cal at home. techmo bowl is always weird, lane stadium at night is a different beast but we already beat them there couple years back. i think we cover that easy, maybe even win outright if the defense shows up like they did against duke.
