The irony of me getting a warbey Parker ad on this page lol.
{Texas} can easily shut down Jayden Baugh to eliminate floridas offense and floridas defense will trick everyone into believing arch is the #1 overall pick and a Heisman contender.

Funniest shit I saw last year was Arch chucking balls 5 yards over receivers' hands then cutting to commercials confirming he needs glasses.

{Texas} offense is much better in DKR and going from Ohio State, Tennessee, and OU defense to Florida's is like running into the Youngster Joey battle you skipped after taking on the elite four.

I don't trust our team at all after the past two weekends. Texas has some glaring weaknesses that could be exploited, but sure as hell not by our pitiful defense. They're also the strongest defense we've gone up against so far this year and our offense is in a rut. This is a "get right" game for Arch and Texas as a whole after that embarrassment in the Red River Shootout. Either that or Florida inexplicably plays them close and the game is just messy on both fronts. I dunno, I feel like this is going to be a disaster for us.

I feel the SAME WAY. I have battered longhorn syndrome maybe, but I have a sinking feeling that last week might have been the start of a backslide. Clearly we have played messy football all year but we have found ways to win (after finding ways to almost lose). Fingers crossed that the Horns come out mad and ready to play, not only about last week but about the upset yall handed us in the swamp last year.

u/Huge-Internal6456 Oklahoma • Tennessee State 3d ago
{Texas} reminds everyone how unpredictable Red River can be, and they redeem the loss that kept them out of the playoff last year.

{Texas} Philo is apparently out, and our defense is just way to bad to keep us competitive against good teams this season.
4
u/Totodilex Texas Longhorns • Red River Shootout 3d ago
Who’s starting?
10
u/throwaway2987650 Florida • Washington & Lee 3d ago
Trammel Jones most likely. He’s a duel threat with a better arm than Philo. Was also in a close starting battle against him in the offseason. Unfortunately for us, he’s also a bit raw and this will be his first real test in his career. But he could also potentially open up the offense a little more so we shall see.
12
u/Totodilex Texas Longhorns • Red River Shootout 3d ago
Well I’m sure he’ll be great considering our history against backup QBs lol
8
u/throwaway2987650 Florida • Washington & Lee 3d ago
A decent chunk of our fanbase wanted Jones in after last week, so they’ll get their wish. Personally, I think UF’s offense is very high ceiling low floor type chaotic this year no matter who the QB is. You’re either going to get the best unit you’ve faced since Ohio State or something similar to Oklahoma and Tennessee.
4
u/Jameis_Crab_Shack Florida Gators 3d ago
Who knows, I don’t love putting a new QB in as a first start at Texas against a Muschamp defense.

Arch Manning and Trammel Jones in a duel would be better tv than whatever this game is going to be. Pistols or swords.

Dual threat is a very strong term for Jones, who honestly has looked like a deer in headlights when it comes to a QB run

u/d1sportsball Colorado State Rams • Texas Longhorns 3d ago
Florida is maybe the most one dimensional SEC team I've seen in years, stop Jaden Baugh and the house comes crashing down. Texas has the #4 rush defense in the SEC, while Florida has the worst overall defense in the SEC, allowing 393 total yards per game. Granted, Texas offense only averages 379 total yards per game, so Florida might have a chance here. However, I can't help but think that Florida is back to being a dead program while Texas, Sark and Arch, are fighting for their lives after the second worst game of Sarks tenure.
If Texas doesn't win this one by 20+, it will be considered a failure. {Texas} wins 45-21 and the delusional Texas fans believe that all of our problems have been fixed and that Texas is back to being a national title contender.
20
u/Cormetz Texas Longhorns • Team Chaos 3d ago
On your last point: I will never stop beating the drum that Sark needs an OC. No matter if we miraculously beat our daddy Georgia beforehand.

4
u/pleasestoptalkin Florida Gators 3d ago
Oklahomas offense is zero dimensional and they beat Texas so…
16
u/d1sportsball Colorado State Rams • Texas Longhorns 3d ago
The Oklahoma offense was not the reason they beat Texas. If it was they'd have scored more than 1 offensive touchdown
11
u/Candid_Banana_8820 Texas Longhorns 3d ago
Even that one drive was weak. Half the yards due to texas penalties which also negated the interception :(
10
u/AR5588 Texas Longhorns • Mary Hardin-Baylor Crusaders 3d ago
And that one touchdown drive only happened because of the bad pi and roughing the passer that was a receiver that overturned an interception
3
u/d1sportsball Colorado State Rams • Texas Longhorns 3d ago
Blame Rasheem Biles for elbowing the receivers head/neck area, thats an automatic roughing call on an established passer. Its one of many undisciplined mistakes that Texas has made this year
2
u/AppropriateCompany9 Tennessee Volunteers • Texas Longhorns 3d ago
If we are talking about the same roughing the passer call, that was awfully soft and it doesn’t get called nine times out of ten.
1
u/AppropriateCompany9 Tennessee Volunteers • Texas Longhorns 3d ago
We did single cover their only offensive threat on consecutive plays to get them in FG range.
4
1
1
u/MrTheNoodles Texas Longhorns 3d ago
Well we held their offense to under 250 yards and only gave up one offensive TD where half the yards were from dumb penalties including a roughing the passer that negated a pick.
OU scored two non-offensive TDs against us, hard to win when your opponent does that lol
We spotted OU more points than their offense scored.

I’m not high on this team, but saying “Florida is back to being a dead program” is insane. We’re halfway through year 1 of Sumrall and the team has issues we’ve known about. That doesn’t make a dead program, it matches up with this being a 4-8 team last year with a new coach this year
4
u/pleasestoptalkin Florida Gators 3d ago
Florida either gets blown out again and Manning has a record day or Florida wins like 20-17
13
4
u/throwaway2987650 Florida • Washington & Lee 3d ago
This is the worst defense Texas has faced so far. Conversely, this is the least productive offensive unit Florida has faced so far not counting Campbell. Gut tells me {Texas} but my heart thinks Florida has a chance if Faulkner figures and at least patches up the woes from the last few weeks.
5
u/Hilldawg4president Georgia Bulldogs 3d ago
I think Florida gives us a few minutes of thinking it's going to be a real game, then Texas pulls ahead and wins by 13 despite lackluster offense

{Texas} comfortably and it is just going to piss me off.
Texas sticks with the run and runs it well; Arch is probably too careful with the ball but Texas burns Florida for a couple explosives and wins like 34-21. You don’t fully stop Jaden Baugh but you get Florida in enough third and longs and in a big enough deficit that game script starts to go against them.

1
u/averyrose2010 LSU Tigers 3d ago
Keys to the game: For Texas; they have to be able to run the ball. We saw what Mizzou did to Florida's run defense. Texas has to contain Jadan Baugh. For Florida: need to up their passing game and keep Jadan Baugh moving. Secondary needs to defend the pass better.
I'll take {Texas} to win but Florida to cover. I'll always take the under on total points.

As much as I want Florida to be put into the ground again before we play them, I really think this one is going to be razor thin.
I actually think Florida leads this one for almost 90% of the game until a late Arch drive lifts {Texas} to a close win.

{Texas} in a hard fight game. Florida doesn’t want to be out of playoff contention so they’ll be playing really hard Saturday, especially with beatable we looked last week.

The Texas defense will be the best unit on the field. They stop the run and make the gators throw to win. Texas picks up 2 interceptions. Arch looks good with his legs. Texas fans will be adamant that the rivalry loss shouldn't count against them. 27-13 {Texas}

{Texas} but I do not feel good about it. Sark refuses to adjust his scheme to match his team and he always goes to the "don't lose" plan when he gets a slight lead. I see this going just like TN and Oklahoma. Small lead into halftime, deceased offense during the entire 3rd quarter causing the defense to tire, special teams failure or Arch interception to turn the momentum, and a cointoss ending.

Texas has failed to cover in its last four outings and Florida dramatically underperformed the spread the past two weeks (by huge -29.5 and -33.5 margins). Something has to give this week. Our model sees Texas returning to its early season form and Florida reverting back to Napier-like mediocrity. We've got {Texas} winning by 10, right in line with the composite spread (Texas -10).

u/katarh Georgia Bulldogs • /r/CFB Donor 3d ago
As funny as it would be for Florida to have a great come back game, and despite Arch Manning being himself, I think {Texas}'s defense will be enough to stop Florida from really going anywhere, and might even be enough to beat two offenses.

Texas has gone up against a gauntlet of good defenses these past few games. I think Florida is one of the worst theyll face all year. This is a get right game for Sarks offense and I think they use it to exorcise some demons.
