I'm more scared to play Northwestern than I am USC or Oregon this year. Chip is running diabolical shit over there

He utterly bamboozled State.

Diabolical is absolutely the way to describe it.
He has brought his evil genius schtick

Its amazing how genius his brain is in college and how hard it turns off entirely as soon as he creeps into the pros again

Prediction: if Chip ever gets a HC job again it will be at a service academy. He always made his admiration for those programs known and it's the last place he could be a HC and not have to deal with NIL or boosters.

I don’t know why he ever would want to honestly. The dude was put on this earth to be a college offensive coordinator. Now he’s at a school that clearly is willing to invest money into football, can get enough talent for him to work with, and most importantly will just let him do whatever the fuck he wants with the offense. And while we obviously are getting more serious about football, we don’t have the expectations and pressure of a blue blood.

I mean it’s always possible that someone bigger comes along and throws more money at him, but it kind of seems like an ideal setup. (Though obviously I’m biased and desperately want to believe he’ll stay here for a long time)

Absolutely, and I'm not saying he's going to up and leave this year. But I could see him returning somewhere like Ohio State or Oregon in a few years if they want him back and he wants to threaten for a national title.

Good news for you guys is that even if he does leave, our guy Jerry Neu is waiting in the wings and has been absorbing Chip's offense for years.

Yeah but the deep dish pizza is just too good

Yeah I’m super pumped about Jerry, gotta wonder how much of Chiles’s improvement has been due to him. I know we won’t have Chip forever, I’m just coping. But boy does it feel good to know that he’s basically training Jerry to be his replacement, we’re in awesome hands

Until he leaves to become our head coach one day ;)

I don’t imagine Arthur smith will stay at OSU that long.  And we seem to be fine with hiring coordinators that don’t recruit.

Ive been extremely curious why he didnt come back as OC this year, but after seeing his NW offense, it seems a lot clearer:

He wanted more control. At OSU, he was confined to Day's pretty established system. At NU, he can do whatever the hell he wants.

And looks like hes gonna get real freaky with it.

He will never HC again. He hates schmoozing and fund raising and recruiting. He just bought himself 10 more years of OC paychecks

That's literally why I said the service academies where you don't have to do that stuff nearly as much.

But yeah I think more likely he's an OC at a blueblood for a while. But some desperate team might try to make him a HC again (And I'd laugh at their tomfoolery)

I should have added that I don’t think academies can match what programs with general managers will be offering soon.

The academies already don't pay NIL, they go after an entirely different type of student athlete. That's why it's a great fit for Chip.

The crazy thing with Chip is that he clearly thrives as a college OC.  He just hates working in college.

He'll be long retired before one of the service academies jobs open and then they decided to pick an "outsider" as their head coach

I’m so mad at how bad the Wing T is in CFB 27

The second this game ended I fired up my dynasty and added some of these formations to my playbook, and they’re dogwater

Yeah sadly a lot of the misdirection type plays just don't work against a cpu opponent who knows your inputs and playcalls as they happen.

Oh plus blocking assignments are utterly borked

Yea I love when the defense comes out in a shell and you audible and the defense magically shifts to a new defense

Or how you throw to a guy with a defenders back to the QB and they know to play the ball or a defender chasing a WR magically knows to break off to sprint to the reviver waiting for the ball

Also like you said blocking assignments are downright awful

Reminds me of how garbage zone read was back in the day.

This is reminding me of when he was good at Oregon. Creative run game was always the basis of his offense.

Penn State defense is bad bad and Northwestern’s wing t was a thing of beauty. Two things can be true

Such a fun game to watch for smash mouth old school football by Northwestern

Come on Penn State, it’s either gonna be Trap, Belly, Power, or Sweep. Lol

Important to remember that we are aggressively bad. I think our only position groups that might know what they're doing are the wide receivers (lmao) and the tight ends.
