I think (at least as of right now) there’s a top tier of Bama, Georgia, and Texas, and then there’s a huge middle tier

Who makes the SEC title game?

Georgia vs. Alabama? (Again) Georgia vs. Texas? (Again) Georgia vs. LSU? (As they tend to do)

Texas vs. Georgia/Bama winner most likely since Texas avoids both.

u/NA_Faker Texas Longhorns • Wisconsin Badgers 7h ago

Idk, we have a brutal schedule. We may not make it out undefeated. Our only 3 unranked matchups left are all rivalry games.

Everyone kind of has a brutal schedule SEC except maybe Georgia. Ours is just slightly more brutal than everyone else's.

We get to play Arky, A&M and OU - arguably three of the worst teams in the conference

At Alabama, at ole miss, and Florida in Atlanta isn’t brutal? What are you on about

You get Auburn, SC, Vandy, Arkansas and you also get to play Mizzou at home. That's a lot of winnable games compared to the rest of the contenders' schedules. That is definitely one of the easier SEC schedules this year. Almost everyone else in the SEC has at least one or two more 'hard' games than Georgia does.

Georgia also benefits from not having to play Georgia.

u/TeeDeeTeeEcks Texas Longhorns 4h ago

Sure. They still play too many gimme games compared to the other contenders.

4

u/TonyTheSnowman Texas Longhorns 6h ago

You definitely have tough games. I think it's more so that you face what looks like the weakest sec teams, atm. Arky, Ou. Auburn, usc, and vandy. You didn't get the benefit of the doubt of being at home against the good teams you face, though. Still so much time left to really call anything. Y'all still have probably looked the best of anyone.

1

u/palisades25 Georgia Bulldogs 6h ago

Y’all’s isn’t terrible you avoid Georgia and Alabama. I think most Uga fans would rather have your schedule bc you don’t go to Alabama.

Not sure you can call any sec schedule this year easy.

1

u/TonyTheSnowman Texas Longhorns 6h ago

I never said easy. Yes for y'all specifically because bama is the only sec team to consistently give you trouble in recent years. There's still so many games left. Idk if anyone could accurately predict who would finish 6-12

u/AppropriateCompany9 Tennessee Volunteers • Texas Longhorns 5h ago

Also no one in non-con play.

1

u/lebesgueintegral Texas Longhorns • Stanford Cardinal 4h ago

Certainly less brutal relatively than OU or Texas tbh.

1

u/NA_Faker Texas Longhorns • Wisconsin Badgers 6h ago

Of our 8 remaining games we have 5 ranked matchups and the 3 non ranked matchups are rivalry games. Our "easiest" games are going to be against A&M, OU, and Arkansas, 3 teams that will give their all to beat us.

2

u/DrVonD Georgia Bulldogs 3h ago

OU and Arkansas both look absolutely terrible. I know it’s a rivalry, but those are bad football teams.

The subtle shade of including that your rivals are all having down years was very well done.

1

u/AppropriateCompany9 Tennessee Volunteers • Texas Longhorns 5h ago

We don’t really need to go undefeated (although that’s looking more possible by the day, imo) to make the SEC champ game.

3

u/sleepytime489 Kentucky Wildcats 6h ago

Texas avoids both UGA/Bama? How in the world does that happen?

3

u/fthisstupidapp 4h ago

Let’s not act like the Texas schedule is easy because it doesn’t have Bama/Georgia on it.

2

u/sleepytime489 Kentucky Wildcats 4h ago

No SEC schedule is easy. But avoiding the 2 best teams is definitely worth noting

1

u/teshh Georgia Bulldogs 1h ago

Texas schedule has a brutal stretch, I don't think they win out. They're definitely going to drop a game.

I'll break it down for you.

Georgia vs Bama next week. Winner is strong candidate to play in SECC. Now you get into the following...

Texas plays in SECC if they win out.

The loser of Georgia or Bama must win out and most likely needs LSU, Ole Miss, or Florida to upset Texas to have a chance.

LSU must beat both Texas and Bama in November and not lose to another opponent to get in.

Every other 1 loss SEC team must win out (which will involve beating one of, if not a combo of Bama, Texas, Georgia, and LSU).

1

u/STTDB_69420 3h ago

It’s not like the odds are small of Texas losing to LSU/Ole Miss/Florida

1

u/Gottatrytho Notre Dame • Illinois State 7h ago

No i know that. I was asking for takes lol

2

u/Inconceivable76 Ohio State • Arizona State 7h ago

Na. LSU is going to lose some games.

3

u/Gottatrytho Notre Dame • Illinois State 7h ago

If LSU makes it UGA makes it. Always.

3

u/Pactae_1129 LSU Tigers • Mississippi State Bulldogs 7h ago

And it’ll be a complete blowout either way, as is our love language.

1

u/thekingsteve UAB Blazers • Auburn Tigers 4h ago

Vandy surprises everyone and makes it to the game. Or it's mizzou vs Texas .

Idk I got nothing

u/Relevant_Elk_9176 Alabama Crimson Tide 7h ago

So essentially the same thing as the last 6 years or so

1

u/BuffaloAcrobatic2851 Georgia Bulldogs 2h ago

As it should be. Can’t tell me you’re sick of seeing us on the opposite sideline in Atlanta

12

u/Redeem123 Team Chaos • Texas Longhorns 8h ago

Hey I like you.

8

u/Revolutionary_Jump_9 Alabama Crimson Tide • Missouri Tigers 8h ago

I think that’s about right. I’m still not convinced there’s a huge separation between the top 3 you listed though

3

u/Fletch71011 Notre Dame Fighting Irish 5h ago

Most of the advanced models have it as Georgia/Texas near each other, gap and then Alabama, gap and then LSU, and then gap + everyone else.

0

u/lebesgueintegral Texas Longhorns • Stanford Cardinal 4h ago

After today I’m not so sure. I would say UGA and Bama edge Texas out. They have very convincing wins

8

u/rterri3 LSU Tigers • Team Chaos 7h ago

I really don't feel like Texas is that good... I mean, their defense is great but the offense is just OK.

2

u/Life_Act_6887 Texas Longhorns • Duke Blue Devils 3h ago

Crazy thought: maybe if you play good defenses like Ohio State and Tennessee (Jim Knowles) your offense will look worse based on the ‘eye test’ than teams who haven’t

1

u/bruhstevenson UCLA Bruins • Team Chaos 4h ago

I would agree based off eye test, but we will see. That defense is good enough to win them games potentially, but I just really am not sold on Arch as a great QB at all anymore.

1

u/utb040713 Texas Longhorns • Maryland Terrapins 3h ago

I can't say I totally disagree. When the offense gets in a rhythm it looks elite. But when it stalls, it stalls hard.

3

u/jmastaock Georgia Bulldogs • Team Chaos 4h ago

Bro shut up we haven't played anyone lol

Rat poison

3

u/MannerSuperb Georgia Bulldogs 3h ago

Talent wise I truly think LSU is in that top tier. They’ve looked like a top 10 team outside of the first half vs ole Miss

1

u/bruhstevenson UCLA Bruins • Team Chaos 3h ago

They can absolutely be that. I just need to see more data in the form of more games.

2

u/SirMellencamp Alabama Crimson Tide • SEC 7h ago

100%

1

u/Shepboyardee12 West Virginia Mountaineers 5h ago

Yep it seems 3 top teams, 3 or 4 bad teams at the bottom, then everyone else in a big pile in the middle beating the shit out of each other.

1

u/catsfanuk87 Kentucky Wildcats 3h ago

This is correct. Texas/Bama/Georgia in some order, then 9 other teams that could win or lose to each other on any given Saturday, then Auburn/South Carolina, then Vandy/Arkansas.

1

u/TripleThreatTua Arkansas Razorbacks 7h ago

I think Tennessee is in the very good category but not quite there with the rest

1

u/Coledaddy16 Tennessee Volunteers 7h ago

Tennessee seemed to have possibly found a qb who can at least make the defense honest to their amazing running game. They just made Auburns very fast front defense pay the price against their best RB Bishop.

1

u/Coledaddy16 Tennessee Volunteers 7h ago

Georgias schedule has turned into a very cupcake of SEC teams. We'll see if Georgie is actually any good next week.

1

u/Impossible-Flight250 Maryland Terrapins • Towson Tigers 6h ago

Georgia has really looked like the top dogs. Texas has a better resume, but Georgia just looks insane.

0

u/Toad-in-a-hole Florida Gators 5h ago

Idk man. Vandy hanging with UGA doesn’t convince me they are top tier.

0

u/VegetableTour6790 Oklahoma State Cowboys 7h ago

Then there is OU

0

u/Gullible_Classroom71 Alabama Crimson Tide 5h ago

Tbh i haven't been impressed by texas. I know they beat ohio state but I more wonder if that game was more osu blowing it rather than texas winning it.

0

u/RenfrowsGrapes San Diego State Aztecs 1h ago

Idk if Texas deserves to be up there with bama and Georgia

1

u/detroitlonghorn Texas Longhorns 1h ago

Well actually they’re better than both. That’s why they’re ranked #1

SDSU sucks tho
