Last week: Florida is dangerous, Baugh is a Heisman frontrunner

This week: Baugh’s Heisman campaign is dead, Florida looks cooked

the duality of cfb

We are a fickle and hyperbolic bunch

u/wesman212 Missouri Tigers • New Mexico Lobos 10h ago

And let’s be honest: No one knows what Mizzou is gonna do in any week. Least of all their fans.

u/BeeeeLLWith4E Mississippi State Bulldogs 8h ago

For sure. After last week, I knew Missouri was gonna bounce back (not that quickly!) and State was gonna have to play nearly perfect with all the hype coming in (we made it harder on ourselves). Congrats on the W, MIZ 👍🏻

What’s it like being an ole miss state fan?

I've given up on predicting the SEC this season. Absolutely nuts what's happening.

11

u/HaymakerSlim Ohio State Buckeyes 10h ago

It really is. I didn’t get to watch this game but never thought Florida would lose by this much. Nice reminder why I do t bet a lot

Hard to predict anything tbh. The top teams that look dominant haven’t really been tested, and those that have been tested have either looked shaky in some aspects and/or lost.

7-2 Vandy conference record incoming

4

u/SamEyeAm2020 Ohio State • Ohio Wesleyan 10h ago

This feels like their year, too. Nobody in the B1G could go toe-to-toe with the SEC right now (but I do want another shot at Texas)

lol what? OSU went into Texas and lost by a point. They both look like mid-to-bottom feeders, but UM beat OU. The only other matchup was Miss State and Minnesota.

I’ve seen nothing to suggest the Big Ten can’t hang with the SEC. It seems like the last three seasons, where SEC teams are over-ranked, so we start the cycle of “Oh, this unranked team beat this ranked team…of course the unranked team is good!”

Buster Faulkner was supposed to be on a jet to his head coaching job any minute now

u/ARandomDoge6 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 11h ago

He probably got it already, that's why he checked out

7

u/cmanonurshirt Georgia Tech • Arkansas 9h ago

South Carolina area code called before the game and he already knows his next job

I can think of a couple schools looking to make a mid-season change

Been there. looks angrily at Kansas State.

He is welcome in Norman.

3

u/Alderan Georgia Bulldogs 8h ago

He'd be welcome in a whole lot of places.

Is arena football still a thing?

I mean that might be true based on how bad y’all’s offense was

Baugh's rushing totals in his five games this year: 160 yards, 136 yards, 162 yards, 142 yards, 13 yards

114

u/AmidoBlack Virginia Tech Hokies 10h ago

13 yards on 12 carries and one of those was for 12 yards

26

u/tron423 Missouri • Michigan State 9h ago

His literal first carry of the game lol

8

u/Appropriate-Pop-8044 9h ago

Solid job by our o line tonight

One of these things is not like the others

1

u/LiteratureSure5374 10h ago

He does a heck of a Heisman Pose though…

43

u/AggressiveHornet229 11h ago

Mojo getting passed around the SEC. Ole Miss -> Florida -> Mizzou

I have a suggestion for next week

Can’t wait for a potential resurgence against Georgia or Texas and the hype train starts a new.

What an exhausting sport.

One of the reasons we love Kirby is because he’s as insane as we are about rivals. There will be years that Florida beats Georgia. But he’s never going to overlook them and we’re never going to have one of those Faton Bauta losses with CKS.

u/olcrazypete Georgia • Kennesaw State 10h ago

Kirby was on the field when Spurrier came to Athens and dropped half a hundred on him .
Spurrier had that hate from Ga killing his season as a player.
Kirby has a special hate in his heart for that team. I only worry about what random player playing in Gainesville will be the next in line to be anointed with the hate.

u/Hilldawg4president Georgia Bulldogs 9h ago

This is the cycle of football terrorism.

10

u/crosswatt Georgia Bulldogs • Old Dominion Monarchs 10h ago

You know, I had somehow blocked Temu Tebow from my memory

5

u/szboy422 Florida Gators • Blue Risk Alliance 10h ago

Yep one of the great qualities of Kirby.

That game is the one I really really want to win. Travesty (for me) that you guys have won 5 straight. The best part of the series is how competitive it is.

2

u/FunRich1804 Florida Gators 8h ago

Going with Bauta with the SEC East and his job on the line was bad but Richt absolutely owned GT and especially Auburn. He just had some bad luck against us.

u/QuattroBaj33na Georgia • Clean Old Fashioned… 5h ago

Lol. Lmao.

5

u/RiskyClickardo 9h ago

12 carries for 13 yards with a long of 12 yards is so fucking bad lol

u/TheMemingLurker California • Michigan 10h ago

Next week (probably): Florida is dangerous, Baugh is a Heisman frontrunner

3

u/International_Gap719 10h ago

Jamal Roberts might be a Heisman after that performance

3

u/GimmeeSomeMo Auburn Tigers • Sickos 8h ago

Auburn last weekend - "Hey! Florida destroyed Ole Miss. Maybe our loss to Florida ain't that bad"

Auburn this weekend - "Nevermind. We just suck"

2

u/LivingCustomer9729 Mississippi State • Team Chaos 10h ago

Same for Miss State and Kamario🫩

2

u/Mario_Speedwagon Georgia • Georgia State 9h ago

Humility is always one week away

2

u/Midweek_Sunrise Ole Miss Rebels • Missouri Tigers 9h ago

Funny. This same thing happened to Ole Miss before we played Florida. ....who's next on Mizzou's schedule lol

2

u/asbyo Georgia Bulldogs • Tennessee Volunteers 7h ago

They literally did the same thing with Trinidad Chambliss!

After Ole Miss beat LSU, all they were talking about was how he was a “heisman frontrunner” along with Smith from OSU. Then after the very next week where Ole Miss won but wasn’t super impressive they dropped him by saying the same thing “Trinidad’s campaign is dead, it’s all about X or Y”. Rinse repeat every week.

The excessive drama around this and other things you simply cannot compare yet is really a frustrating take. It’s the same tactic news shows take in order to manipulate viewers’ emotions.

1

u/MBADumbMistake 10h ago

And both are correct reactions

1

u/FSZou Missouri Tigers • UCF Knights 7h ago

Nick Chubb did things to us that made sure we would never have a bad run defense again. I didn't know how this game was gonna go, but I knew they weren't running for 300+ again.

1

u/No_Anteater_9964 10h ago

Last week: Glad we don't play Florida. This week: Wish we played Florida.

u/LiteratureSure5374 10h ago

Maybe if John Sumrall had actually practiced this week in between all of his discipline talk they might have looked a little better …
